A not so careful weekend

Today was Pancake Sunday. We haven't had pancakes in a long time and I forgot how good they were. When I entered them into the Nutrition tracker, though, I got a huge surprise. Those two pancakes with syrup accounted for almost half of my day's calories! I used to eat pancakes for breakfast a couple times a week. No wonder I couldn't lose weight!
I had creme brulee on Saturday. YUM. I went out to eat with my mom and the restaurant we went to has the BEST creme brulee. I stuck to my plan and skipped the wine and the bread so I could have dessert.
Bought some really cute spring clothes yesterday. I actually *enjoyed* shopping! I can't wait until it gets warm so I can wear some new stuff.
Today I had a craving for chips. I complained to my fiance that I couldn't just go out to eat and order whatever I wanted to. Sometimes I wish that I could go out to eat and order a giant greasy sandwich, or a basket of onion rings, or a big chocolate dessert. I don't feel that way as often as I used to, but every once in a while I sometimes wish I didn't care about what I was putting in my mouth. But then he said "do you *really* want to eat that stuff though?" And I guess my answer is no. Fresh food and non-processed food tastes so much better. The last few times I ate greasy processed food, I got sick. The asparagus was SOOOO good tonight.
Went to the gym today and did my lower body exercises before my cardio. What a difference! I lifted heavier weights a little slower, and I could tell I worked hard because I couldn't even run when I was done. I just did a fast walk up an incline. Wow! I think my body needed that change. It will be summer before you know it!
Just got my China trip itinerary today. I'm SO excited! I'd like to lose another 15 pounds or so before I leave in July. I'll have to check my calendar, but I think that's doable.

Good things this weekend:
Two people I haven't seen in a while told me I looked "fabulous"
Got a nice comment that I really looked like I lost weight
Bought a smaller size in ALL my new clothes (woot woot!)
Got to see my dog, who I don't think is going to be around for much longer, which is a sad thing :(
Didn't eat too much, despite going out to eat on Saturday night.

    Aw, the pancakes on Sunday brought back a happy memory for me. Every Sunday morning when I was a kid, my dad took over in the kitchen and made pancakes for everyone.

I hear you on the craving. I gave in to a couple of Oreo cookies lately, and immediately regretted it. The processed food just tasted nasty, really, and it made me feel yucky to have eaten something like that.

Woohoo on the China trip and all the "good things!"

I'm really sorry to hear about your dog, though. It's nice you got to spend some time together.

to find some casual clothing that I can wear on a weekend. I have been so concerned with buying new clothes for work that I forgot about what to wear on the weekend. It took me FOREVER this morning to find something to wear out shopping!

Thursday night was dinner with a friend. I ate a hamburger and french fries. Blech. It wasn't my plan, but it was damn good. My punishment was that all that fried food made me sick. I made sure to run a lot last night at the gym.

This weekend is going to a hard one for making good food choices. Tonight is the symphony with my mom; it's hard to resist the homemade creme brulee at the restaurant we are going to! I think I'll skip the wine and bread and go for the dessert. Yum.

Yesterday I was reminded why I like Spark People so much. I had conversations with two people that ended up with them talking about how they can't get to the gym, how they hate to work out, no water, bad food, etc. As soon as I mentioned something about going to the gym, the conversations stopped. Now I know why friends make friends fat, especially when both friends don't have the motivation to live a healthier lifestyle. Getting motivation from all you wonderful Sparkfriends has really made a huge difference. If I didn't have this resource, I think I would have caved into giant pizzas and cakes weeks ago. Five pounds would have been enough, and I would have just lived with being Fat. But now I know that I don't have to live with that. I can keep going and who knows where I'll be in another 2 1/2 months.

    Re friends... I agree. I guess I've gotten to the point where I really don't rely on friends to be involved in anything involving exercise, because that's just not where they're at. Sad, but true.

    It is true about friends. I have one who keeps breaking our gym dates and at first I would not go then I thought "heck with this" and I went anyways. I have a hard time with getting the time to exersise as I have a busy life, so when I make the plans I have decided I am going to do it one way or another...

I love getting my hair cut. It's so relaxing, and the girls at the salon I go to give the most amazing head massages when they wash my hair. So I'm thinking shorter; like Winona Ryder when she was arrested at Saks.
I went to the gym last night, but I don't think I gave myself enough time between eating dinner and going to the gym. My stomach started to cramp up when I was running, so I had to cut the cardio short. I *did*, however, get in a full upper body workout.
Next week is a meeting with a trainer to update my workout. I definitely feel that I need some new exercises to add to the mix.
On Saturday I am going spring shopping (yay!) with some coupons (I don't buy any clothes without a coupon). I need to look for a new dress for a friend's wedding in April. SO excited to look for a cute (strapless?) dress - not a frumpy thing to hide lumps and bumps.
I am still getting nice compliments from people at work. One of the teachers told me I was looking "trim." I love the word "trim." It's better than "skinny" or "thin" I think because it makes me think of "fit and trim" (even though I think that's what Perdue calls their chicken - fit and trim).
Today I am wearing my "skinny skirt." I bought it for $10 at Target and it's the smallest size I've ever bought. I feel so good.
Going to dinner with a friend tonight... don't know where, but keep me in your thoughts as I avoid french fries and too many calories!

    I love getting my hair cut, too. I swear, if I had the money, I would pay someone to wash (and style) my hair every single day. :-)

I like "trim" and I like "toned", too. And woo hoo for compliments!

    Hey, thanks for the comment on my blog! Upping the calories really seems to have made a difference for me too, and it looks like you're still doing well. Good luck at dinner tonight! I had a friend stop by unexpectedly last night and we had wine and healthy snacks, but after he left I felt hungry (or rather, the 3 glasses of wine felt hungry), so I ate some more (all healthy stuff, but too much). Oh well, I can still do well today :)

Spring is almost here!

Daylight savings is practically spring, isn't it?
Today I went swimming - I am SO tired. I love swimming. It burns so many calories and I don't even feel like I'm working that hard, although when I am finished I can definitely feel it.
Tonight is chicken, sweet potato gnocchi, snap peas, and a little sweet. Yum!
There is so much to do around the house. Spring break is going to be really busy for me.
Time for an appetizer!

Tonight was upper body night at the gym. My trainer gave me some exercises when I started and called them "Arnolds" because they are what "Ah-nold" is famous for. They are really tough, but they are really effective.
Got a book at the library - Strength Training for Dummies. I'm looking to change up my weight routine a little bit.
Today was such a beautiful day. It was about 70 degrees. I am READY for spring! I am actually looking forward to skirts and sleeveless shirts! I may have to ramp up the cardio, though. I can see definition forming in my arms, but I need to get rid of the flab. Maybe I will examine my nutrition chart and see where I can improve it. I've been going slightly over on my fat intake and not enough protein. I guess I'll have to start eating more black beans and change my cereal milk to skim. I don't drink milk plain anymore, so I think I could handle skim on my cereal. I may also have to sacrifice my butter on my toast in the morning since I do not want to give up the half and half in my coffee.
Off to fold some laundry...

    Somehow I missed this post.... I'm *really* curious about what an Arnold is! (A little hint?) ;-)

Flab... yes, flab. Flab. (What can I say about it?) Warm weather clothing certainly makes us aware of it, no? (Also mirrors and unflattering photos.) :-)

I've also changed my dairy a bit to cut the fat/be able to have more of the dairy. That pesky nutrition calculator is pretty useful, isn't it? :-)
