Today's thoughts.

- My cravings for carbs are lessening. This is a good thing.
- I have recommitted to eating lots of fruit. It's weird - fruit is so yummy that it's in my head that it must be bad for me. It's obviously better for me than a bag of chips.
- Gathering inspirational quotes and reading inspirational articles has been good for me lately. I've started re-reading the book Flip the Switch by Jim Karas. I love it because it's similar to Spark - it doesn't advocate cutting anything out, rather deciding whether a brownie or a smaller waist is more important to you.
- I took a rest day today. Part of it was because this morning it was freezing rain outside and I couldn't make it to Body Pump, and part of it was because I can still feel Body Pump from Thursday. I can tell I will have to do lots more stretching!

Hm... that's it. I just had a little pizza for dinner (the last of the homemade crust), a glass of wine, and I'm ready to hit the couch and do a little reading. I'm hoping Brad makes it home a little early tonight... he said it was slow at the restaurant tonight, partly because of the weather. My water bottle is full!

Sometimes I feel like my days can be summed up with "Words of Wisdom." Little tidbits of knowledge I've gathered from reading Spark articles, motivational pages...

"You will most likely regret *not* doing it, but you will almost never regret it if you do." I thought about this one at 5:00 this morning when all I wanted to do was stay in bed. My nice cozy comfy bed. And so I got up.

"Once you put on your gym clothes, your attitude will change." I pulled back my hair, got my spinning gear on, and I thought "huh, I guess I *am* more ready to go now."

"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day." I have always been a breakfast eater, but I still felt more awake when I got my coffee and apple with PB. After spin I'll have an English muffin and maybe an egg.

And I'm sure the rest of the day will be filled with sayings as well... I found a good one last night. I've been struggling with saying "no" to food. Yesterday, I had a pack of peanut M&Ms after lunch. It wasn't that I was still hungry, I just wanted some chocolate. I was feeling weak. I have an app called "Motivator" - "Self-respect is the root of discipline: The sense of dignity grows with the ability to say no to oneself." - Abraham Joshua Heschel. I'm going to think of this one often today. And this one is true too. I almost always feel better about myself when I can say "no" to a temptation.

- Spin!
- water water water
- buy fresh fruit after school - there is no more in the house (we went through it like crazy this week), and I'd like to have it to snack on instead of rummaging around the house for something to eat.
- Straighten up the living room. ARGH it looks like a tornado went through the house. And that was with two days off which I guess I should have used for cleaning.

Have a Fantastic Friday!

Our people went back to school today-so glad b/c I hate having them go to 12June anyway...they don't need any extra days in school. Yum-tuna wrap!! enjoy!tonight's dinner is for Gracie's 5th bday-she chose tomatoe soup, of all things! I'm throwing in some brats to go along with it. I'll have soup and cake and ice bratwursts for me.

Lucky! I was hoping for a 2 hour delay but they cancelled again. So my son and I are home again. I had school on Monday and I hope to get back on Friday. We have conferences coming up in a week so that ought to be interesting getting materials ready for that. We haven't been there to do anything. Enjoy your day.

The snow is snowing...

Tuesday, February 01, 2011

Another snow day means that we are now going to school into the third week of June. Bleh. Despite the long school year, I like snow days.

- I get to spend more time with my honey. And because he doesn't work in a chain restaurant, the managers make the decision if the restaurant is open during a snow storm. Today he is home and tomorrow he might be too. Yay! He's out skiing right now - this is a good year for his ski pass!
- I get to straighten up the house mid-week.
- I can catch up on some reading.
- Naps!
- I get to eat breakfast in my jammies.

February! emoticon

February is going to be "I love my _______" month.

I love my gym membership!
This month I'm going to take more classes at the gym. I am fortunate - the instructors at my gym are all really great and the classes are really really good. So this month I'm committing myself to taking more spin, Body Pump, Power Yoga and stretch classes.

I love my bank account!
January was a really good month for me as far as spending. So in February, I'm going to continue the trend. I don't really need more clothes, but I would like to expand my shoe/accessory collection... so while I don't think I'll be buying any clothes, I will be keeping my eyes open for cute shoes, bags and belts.

I love my healthy body!
In February, I am going to focus on putting good food into my body. This means smart snacking, lots of water, and assessing my hunger level while I'm eating.

I love my family!
I'm going to call my mom more often.

So there it is... off to read a bit and get in some water! Have a great day!

You should post pics of your shoes - I just got some new sandals for Cuba that I LOVE.

Shoes make the outfit, you know!

I wish my husband would stay home during my snow days....but instead he just looks at these days as a chance for me to get out of bed and drive him to the train station (he could walk, but knowing I have all this free time means he makes me drive!).

Snow days just do not seem to exist here, I am very jealous of the snow days you get. lol
