If you've read some of my past blogs, you know that I find sleep glorious. I can't help it. Sleep is just wonderful! Last night I bucked up and told Brad that I needed to get to sleep early. Like 9:30 early. (For the last week or two, my bedtime has been quite a bit later, and my body finally called me out on it.) This morning's wake-up was amazing! I actually woke up at 4:30, not because something was wrong, but because I slept so well! I stretched and rolled around until my alarm went off at 5:00, and I jumped out of bed.
My run this morning was awesome - my legs felt great, and my heart was pump-pump-pumping away! All because of wonderful sleep!
I didn't think I was going to the gym today, I planned it to be a rest day, but I felt so darn good that I just HAD to get up! And I'm glad I did. Getting in a workout first thing helps me to make good choices all day. Yahoo!
- drink water drink water drink water drink water
- NO DONUT HOLES (yesterday was not so good)
- Schedule an oil change
- Stop for gifts on the way home from school (I am going to a baby shower tomorrow night)

I am totally, utterly, exhausted this morning. I went to bed early, got eight hours of sleep, and STILL have a heck of a time getting up. I need Christmas break.
The house is a mess - I can't get it under control! All I want to do when I come home is sit on the couch. Sigh...
Enough of that.
I think I'm going to take today and tomorrow off from the gym. I didn't go yesterday, either, but I need some rest. My body is screaming out for it - it's about time I listen!
drink tons of water!!!
Limit carbs for the rest of the day - I already had over half my day's amount because I couldn't say NO to the second bowl of cereal.
Do some food writing
Clean up a room

Last night honey made some tahini cookies. AMAZING. I suppose this officially marks the beginning of Christmas Cookie Season. And last night was a good prep for me, because I remembered why I need to be so diligent around the cookies. In no time at all, I ate four cookies, warm and crumbly, right from the oven. The cinnamon and powdered sugar topping was still slightly melted... MMM.
So I'm up this morning, nice and early, to work extra hard to cancel out those cookies. I'll have to do an extra rep or two!
Today's gym workout is back and biceps. My triceps are still super sore from Sunday's workout! When I try to put on or take off my coat, I hear the Benny Hill music in my head. I hope I don't look as ridiculous as I feel.
Off to warm up the car! The worst part about morning gym time during the winter months is that it's SO DARN COLD when I leave. But I suppose the cold air does me some good.

This sudden change in weather is wreaking havoc on my skin! I have sensitive skin to begin with, and this cold is making my chin look like Rudolph's nose. Yeesh.
Yesterday was a great day for my plan! I got in a monster weight training session at the gym, then came home and had a great day of eating. Drank tons of water and ate lots of clementines. Wrote out my Christmas cards and started my cookie list. I even wrapped a present!
So I am really really excited about something! I am very good at my job and I love it, but I always felt like there was something missing. Like a hobby. I mean, I like to do lots of stuff, but I could never find anything that I REALLY liked to do, and often. So I started thinking, which I do sometimes, and I figured out what it is that I love. It's food photography. I started reading up on some stuff over the weekend, and I'm really psyched about learning more about food photography and how to become good at it. I am going to ask Santa for a new camera. I told this to Brad, and almost on cue, my old camera stopped connecting to the computer. I can't figure it out, but the USB is not working. huh. I think it's a sign.
It's just about time for me to head off to the gym. I ordered a new pair of running shoes (Zappos had them on sale!) and I'm going to break them in. It's amazing how wonderful a new pair of shoes can make your feel feel! And you know, it's also kind of amazing how different kinds of shoes can really make a difference in how you perform. I ordered a pair of shoes for lifting weights, and hoo-ee what a difference! They have SO much more support than my running shoes, and I feel so much sturdier when I'm doing my squats. Which is important when you have 100 pounds on your shoulders that you don't want to come crashing down.
Something I learned about myself - my upper body strength is seriously lacking. My killer chest workout almost *did* kill me yesterday. I could barely lift my arms to wash my hair yesterday after the gym! But that tells me that I am going to get some awesome arms as my workouts progress. Look out!
- drink all my water/tea (I LOVE LOVE LOVE drinking hot tea!!!)
- regulate the sweets (i.e. count the almonds)
- Be positive!
- write something about food (I am reading a book about food writing, and it gives some really good writing prompts. I am to write about food every day.)
