Today was, overall, a pretty darn good day. I did my morning writing, and I tracked all my food. Brad took me to school - it was nice to have some time with him before work! We just had a delicious salad, and he's making lemon chicken for our dinner. Yay!
The calmness is still upon me. I love it.
Tonight I am going to make some lentil soup for the freezer. We haven't had soup in the freezer for a while, and I kind of miss it. There's nothing better than homemade soup on a cold night (although it hasn't really been that cold yet).
Good things for today:
I drank all my water
I tracked all my food
I had a great workout this morning!
I was positive all day
My teaching day was fun!

It's a perfect time to blog. Brad is out skiing, bread doesn't have to go in for another hour or so, and the house is in decent shape.
In this first week of 2012, I have found a calm in myself that I haven't felt for a while. I am enjoying the simple things more - sitting and reading, journal-writing, setting up food photography (which takes longer than I imagined it would), and drinking tea.
I am more focused on my goals than I ever have been. While fitness and eating well are still major parts of my life, I've added reading and photography as two hobbies/interests that are SOOO good for me. I've taken to writing in a journal - this practice has calmed me down and perhaps diffused situations before they even had a chance to surface.
I've been better about reading everyone's Spark blogs, and I've definitely been more consistent with Spark time. For the past week I've logged all my food - it really is eye-opening. It's kind of like the first month I joined Spark, when I learned all kinds of stuff about my food. Last night, I even entered the one and a half cookies I ate *before* I went back for more - in 1.5 ounces of sugar cookies, there are over 200 calories. Holy moly! And an ounce of cookie is NOT a lot. I don't even want to think about how many ounces of cookie I ate over the holiday.
It's time to do some reading and tea-drinking...

We had such a great time horseback riding today! The weather was perfect.
Tonight Brad is making chicken tostadas for dinner - yum! I have been a water-drinking fool today, and I've been super-good on the eating front. And I didn't even get a Chinese-Takeout-Hangover this morning! I made it to the gym for some super chest/triceps work. Tomorrow is a rest day. I am SOOOO looking forward to it.
Brad is skiing so I'm taking some ME TIME and catching up with some reading. I love me time!

Seriously, am I dreaming? I came home to find out that my honey made us reservations for tomorrow to go horseback riding! I have been talking about going for SOOO long. Hooray! AND, he read my mind about dinner. I came home and did not feel like cooking ANYthing. Before I even opened my mouth, he said "what do you think about Chinese tonight?" And I just talked about Chinese food right before I came home. Hooray!
AND! Our new speakers came! We got a gift card to the Apple store for X-mas, and we ordered some Harman Kardon Soundsticks. They are so beautiful and they sound great. I'm so excited! I'm listening to some East Coast Hip Hop on Pandora, and it's so amazing. Foul language has never sounded so good in our house!
So because we're going horseback riding tomorrow afternoon, I'm considering saving my strength training for Sunday. I used to ride a lot, and I know how crazy it is on your muscles. I'm going to think about it.
Tonight is all about enjoying my laziness. I'm having a glass of chardonnay and I'm not planning on tracking anything else tonight. I'm putting my careful eating on hold for the rest of the evening. Sometimes I have to do just that so I don't go crazy and eat the whole universe.
I drank tons of water today and got myself a whole bunch of workout stickers on my calendar, so it's guilt-free sweet and sour chicken.
Off to enjoy some vino!

I love Friday Eve almost as much as I love Fridays. I celebrated with a glass of wine, and I'm about to get my head rubbed by my honey. Life is good.
Ate two yummy salads today... I love having a salad with a little "real food" on the side. Lunch was a little homemade pasta, and dinner was one chicken tostada. I am in food heaven lately!
This week has been awesome on the workout front - I've been to the gym very regularly, and I feel great! This morning I even had the Hallelujah Chorus going through my head for about an hour because I put on a pair of pants that hadn't really been fitting, and today they buttoned up with hardly a roll! Hooray! Nothing like pants to show success!
It's funny how my food tracking is working again, too. It's almost like I needed all of 2011 (ha!) to NOT track, and I am really motivated to track again. Weird... But I've been tracking it all, and I'm figuring out that I need more protein and less fat. But my carbs have been better, which is no small thing.
It's couch time! Happy Friday Eve!
