Good thing about summer and hot weather - I don't want to eat as much.
Bad thing - when I *do* want to eat something, it's usually ice cream.

I was doing so well with the no-dairy thing, but then this heat came along. And I am a sucker for ice cream! There is a great ice cream place down the road from me, and their soft ice cream is delicious. I have been there more than a couple times in the last few weeks... oops.

I've been slacking on my Sparking... sometimes it happens.

Hubs and I are going to a picnic today at his cousin's house.

It's hot... off to drink some water.

It's been hot here, but I'm lucky in that I don't really like ice cream. I make a lot of popsicles for the kids, with yogurt, bananas, and fruit. Stay cool!

Me too! Appetite goes down but cravings for ice cream (and I have an ice cream place down the street too!) go up.

I totally relate with your post! In the hot weather all I want to eat is cold things and ice cream is my #1 choice. I make sure I log it and put in some extra cardio due to all the carbs. I hope you enjoyed the picnic. :O) Have a great weekend!

Is it close enough that you can walk or cycle to it? That way you burn off some of the calories and you may not feel like you're slacking on your Sparking as much. emoticon The only ice cream that I *really* enjoy, I have to drive 45 minutes to get to... maybe that's a good thing, eh?

Sunday night

I have a literal pain in the butt. I have been stretching and rolling all day! I think more rolling and some rest is just what I need.

I've been working hard to get this house ready to put on the market. I fixed the drywall in the bathroom (I always feel kind of bad-a$$ when I fix something myself), caulked everything, and primed it this evening. The piano is ready to be moved tomorrow - between 11 and 1 movers are coming to take my piano down to my dad's house. I'm a little sad - my grandmother left me her piano. It's a nice one, so I don't want to just get rid of it. I'm not sentimental about *things* usually, but this piano is an exception. Why, oh why, couldn't she have left me a violin?

Dinner is cooking - quinoa pasta with andouille sausage and peas. I had the exact same thing last night, but it's easy and it keeps me from getting takeout. I am also treating myself to some vino - I haven't had wine in WEEKS!

- water water water!
- swimming - I need an easy recovery day from today's 7 miles. I haven't done 7 miles in FOREVER. It felt really good, although I did tweak something in my bum.
- paint the bathroom!

Having a piano is easier when you're in a place you know you're going to be for quite a while. I'm at that point... you'll get there!

I flexed my home improvement muscles today! We are trying to get this house on the market, and the last big thing I have to do is paint the upstairs bathroom. There is a little drywall damage above the shower, so I figured out how to take care of it. I'm proud of myself for taking care of this myself instead of calling someone else to fix it. It was really easy! And it will be ready to paint tomorrow afternoon.

Tomorrow's plan is to go for a long run at a local Rails to Trails. Nice and flat, easy gravel trail, and shaded. Yahoo!

Off to get ready for bed...

We must be in a parallel universe right now. We are having relatives in for a large party in
August and are getting the house ready. The shower is our next project. Later we will bike on our local R to T, the Katy Trail. Happy biking.

So the upside to my getting laid off is that I am really determined to move on with my career in education. While I was teaching, I got my masters in Curriculum and Instruction (C&I). About a month before I got laid off, I decided to go back to school to get my Supervisory Certificate in C&I. Little did I know, it would be a really good decision.

This summer I am managing to take four - yes, FOUR - classes toward my certificate. I just figured out that after this summer, I'll have only two more classes and then my internship and Praxis. HOLY MOLY. I am SO excited. So by this time next year, I will most likely have my Supervisory Certificate in C&I! Just called my mom to tell her that I could add another class this summer and instead of saying "great!" the first thing she says is "can you do all those classes? That's a lot of work." Which is totally typical of my mother. Sheesh. But anyway... *I'm* looking forward to all these classes because I'm really excited about getting this certificate.

Off to move some laundry and take a hot bath.

Would you work as a coach? Administrator? Someone in the district office? It is good to move up in education. Those people seem like their jobs are more secure...then again, many of them (at least here) get transferred a lot...

emoticon on moving forward in your education and career!

Sweaty mess

Thursday, June 21, 2012

Holy heat.

Hubs and I don't have AC in our house, so yesterday we spent almost all day sitting on the couch reading and drinking water. Same thing again today, so I opted to skip my run this morning - nothing is more awful than coming in from a run, showering, and still sweating. And no AC to cool off.

This afternoon I'm headed down to my mom's house - I'll get in a run tomorrow morning. Just a little one, because on Saturday I have my long run scheduled.

It actually feels pretty good to be kind of lazy - I have gotten lots done over the last week, so I don't feel like a total slacker.

- lots of water
- enjoy the time at mom's while keeping nutrition in the back of my head

I've been feeling pretty lazy too. I went to the gym yesterday, but it was almost unbearably hot there! How do they get away with that...anyway, just sitting here now with a homemade iced coffee in front of my window unit A/C... stay cool!

One of the suggestions in our SparkLive! class this week is to run through sprinklers. LOL

Lots of water - hope your long run goes well this weekend.

We're lucky that it's so dry here.... we have a swamp cooler (but rarely have to use it), and my mom has AC.

Take a suggestion from the kids: go swimming, or run through a sprinkler. Seriously. ;-)
