Carpet - Day 2

Tuesday, July 10, 2012

I am feeling held hostage by this carpeting project. It needed to be done - I don't think the flooring in our house has been updated since it was built in the early 1990s. Hopefully we won't get to enjoy it for too long - we will be calling our realtor soon to put the house on the market.

Sunday night we moved a bedroom's worth of furniture and *stuff* to the other two bedrooms. We have been sleeping all squished into a little area, surrounded by bookcases and dressers. Luckily we managed to set up the mattresses, so my sleep hasn't suffered *too* much. Yesterday the two guys were here for about six hours (!!!) putting in the new vinyl flooring and laying carpet for part of the upstairs. Today they are finishing the part they started, and they will be doing part of our downstairs carpet. AAAAAHHH

There is so much furniture to move, and it's hard to deal with this because Brad works from about 3:00-11:00. I have been staying up until he gets home so I can talk to him about what we need to do. But I am also getting up early to get things ready for the house. Someone has to do it - he's been a big help, but I do most of the stuff right now because I'm not working and he is.

I can't wait until this is over so I can go back to my normal schedule. I haven't been running in almost a week (and I can give you a million excuses why), I have either allergies or a cold (I think it's allergies) and it's driving me bonkers. I constantly go back and forth between feeling really hopeful for a job and really pessimistic about the prospects.

BAH

I have to keep reminding myself that this carpet thing is a HUGE step forward in selling the house. For those of you that know me, you know that we've been talking about selling the house for YEARS. It's kind of surreal to think that this is actually happening now. I still haven't quite come to terms with having lost my job - I think it's really going to hit me this fall when I don't go back to my old school.

But anyway, here are some good things I have to look forward to:
- this weekend, my best friend and I are going to a wine festival. We are camping out and drinking wine. Perfect.
- next Wednesday I'm going into NYC with my mom and brother to see the musical "Once" - I can't wait. I love Broadway.
- I have a triathlon next weekend! I'm not prepared but I'm going to have fun anyway.

Glad you are moving forward with the house situation. That sounds like you are moving in the right direction.

You'll get back to your running when the work in the house is done.

You have a lot to look forward to--the wine festival, Broadway show and tri next weekend! So cool! All that sounds so fun.

Keep up the great work. You are doing a wonderful job! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I feel for you.....hopefully your floor will be done soon.

We had hardwoods and tile put in a few months ago (every room but the kitchen). I thought it would never be done but it is and I love it!

Oh Carrie, big hugs! You'll get through it! It sounds like a total PITA, but it will get you toward selling the house. Try to run--you'll feel better.

4th Eve!

Tuesday, July 03, 2012

July did not start off so hot. On the 1st and 2nd, all I did was sit on my duff. I barely got off the couch. Not quite sure why... maybe just a little funk.

But this morning I managed to get to the gym. I did about an hour of strength training/cycling... it felt good. I hate to make excuses for my lazy self, but it's been so darn hot that I don't even want to move!

I do have another triathlon coming up in about three weeks... I need to get on the ball with my training.

Tomorrow:
- morning swim
- lots of water!
- figure out some future fitness plans
- look at future races/events

Yeah...I hear you. I'm struggling with staying up too late, eating too many sweets, and not wanting to do much in the heat. Luckily, I don't want to eat much, either, so maybe it sort of balances out?

HOT

Saturday, June 30, 2012

Good thing about summer and hot weather - I don't want to eat as much.
Bad thing - when I *do* want to eat something, it's usually ice cream.

I was doing so well with the no-dairy thing, but then this heat came along. And I am a sucker for ice cream! There is a great ice cream place down the road from me, and their soft ice cream is delicious. I have been there more than a couple times in the last few weeks... oops.

I've been slacking on my Sparking... sometimes it happens.

Hubs and I are going to a picnic today at his cousin's house.

It's hot... off to drink some water.

It's been hot here, but I'm lucky in that I don't really like ice cream. I make a lot of popsicles for the kids, with yogurt, bananas, and fruit. Stay cool!

Me too! Appetite goes down but cravings for ice cream (and I have an ice cream place down the street too!) go up.

I totally relate with your post! In the hot weather all I want to eat is cold things and ice cream is my #1 choice. I make sure I log it and put in some extra cardio due to all the carbs. I hope you enjoyed the picnic. :O) Have a great weekend!

Is it close enough that you can walk or cycle to it? That way you burn off some of the calories and you may not feel like you're slacking on your Sparking as much. emoticon The only ice cream that I *really* enjoy, I have to drive 45 minutes to get to... maybe that's a good thing, eh?

Funny! I too don't eat as much but eat more ice cream in the heat...gotta watch that. Maybe some non dairy ice cream? Try to stay cool emoticon emoticon

Sunday night

Sunday, June 24, 2012

I have a literal pain in the butt. I have been stretching and rolling all day! I think more rolling and some rest is just what I need.

I've been working hard to get this house ready to put on the market. I fixed the drywall in the bathroom (I always feel kind of bad-a$$ when I fix something myself), caulked everything, and primed it this evening. The piano is ready to be moved tomorrow - between 11 and 1 movers are coming to take my piano down to my dad's house. I'm a little sad - my grandmother left me her piano. It's a nice one, so I don't want to just get rid of it. I'm not sentimental about *things* usually, but this piano is an exception. Why, oh why, couldn't she have left me a violin?

Dinner is cooking - quinoa pasta with andouille sausage and peas. I had the exact same thing last night, but it's easy and it keeps me from getting takeout. I am also treating myself to some vino - I haven't had wine in WEEKS!

Tomorrow:
- water water water!
- swimming - I need an easy recovery day from today's 7 miles. I haven't done 7 miles in FOREVER. It felt really good, although I did tweak something in my bum.
- paint the bathroom!

Having a piano is easier when you're in a place you know you're going to be for quite a while. I'm at that point... you'll get there!

Drywall

Saturday, June 23, 2012

I flexed my home improvement muscles today! We are trying to get this house on the market, and the last big thing I have to do is paint the upstairs bathroom. There is a little drywall damage above the shower, so I figured out how to take care of it. I'm proud of myself for taking care of this myself instead of calling someone else to fix it. It was really easy! And it will be ready to paint tomorrow afternoon.

Tomorrow's plan is to go for a long run at a local Rails to Trails. Nice and flat, easy gravel trail, and shaded. Yahoo!

Off to get ready for bed...

We must be in a parallel universe right now. We are having relatives in for a large party in
August and are getting the house ready. The shower is our next project. Later we will bike on our local R to T, the Katy Trail. Happy biking.
