I hate to be one of those people who complains about technology, because I think it's wonderful, but today was one of those days where technology was not exactly good to me. My rental car was a Ford Flex, which is a HUGE SUV (it seats 7). I drive a little Jetta, so the Flex was definitely a big difference! Well, I got used to it, but something that made me a little nuts was the back-up warning system. It had a camera (which I kinda liked), beeping and lights. Yesterday I was backing out of a spot, and it kept beeping at me; the display read "object approaching from left." I kept checking, and nothing was there! ARGH.
And the other thing was the thing that was wrong with *my* car. It was an Engine Speed Sensor. Nothing wrong with the engine, just the sensor that apparently sensed its speed. $300 later the sensor is fixed. I like to think I would have been able to tell if something was wrong with my engine without this sensor... but I don't know squat about cars, so I'm sure it was there for a good reason.
Anyway, my car is back, and I forgot how much I love my little car. It zips on the highway, and it handles like a dream. It has over 130K miles on it, and it is a smoother ride than the rental I had! It feels so solid.
I'm running a 5K tonight. It's going to be SO cold tonight. I have lots of bundle-y things to wear, so I think I'll be fine. I'm going with one of my girlfriends, and we'll have hot chocolate and pancakes after the run. I'm actually really looking forward to the post-run - I can't tell you the last time I've had pancakes.
Time to drink some more water!
