10-10-10 Tracking

I guess I'm just like an elementary school kid... I like to see my progress and I like to see when the "end" is. For my latest challenge, I made up a chart to track my three goals.

- Daily workout
- Five Siggs of water
- Stay in calorie range

It's nothing fancy, and I love using art supplies, so I did it by hand - the only thing I printed out was the calendar.




It's a little blurry, but you get the idea. I can see the number of in-range calorie days add up quickly. I wrote in my daily workout plan and I also jotted in there days I knew I'd be away from home, just so I can assume that those days are going to be out-of-range days. Seeing it as a big block of time is better for me than seeing it as three months. My mindset isn't "once a week i can go out of range" anymore. I guess I'm just very visual.

This morning is a walk with my fitness buddy, then the crazy Intensity class at the gym. I am ready with my Powerade today - I am determined to not let today's class get me run down for the whole week, which is what happened the last two times. Geez!

Today:
- drink WATER!!!!
- finish the laundry
- cook something for the freezer
- clean! the kitchen, living room, bedroom... and the list goes on
- take some evening time to relax

    I can TOTALLY relate to the elementary school chart!! They are the best...I LOVE seeing how I'm doing...and this way, my husband can see the progress, too...he doesn't log on to Spark to see the things I accomplish, so it's a nice visual for him as well! You're doing so great!

    That's a cool idea with the calendar. How do you track each goal? Do you have a different color for each goal, or how does it work? I'm pretty visual, too, which is why I ask. I wonder if it would be helpful for me to try it, as well.

But I was SURE that last night I ate over my calorie range. Honey was home and made fried rice and shepherd's pie... I was all ready to count yesterday as one of my 10 days out of range, but for the heck of it, I entered in my calories. And what do you know, I'm about 200 calories *under* my high limit! Yahoooooooo! I am totally amazed. I mean, mashed potatoes? ground veal??? It's amazing what a little portion control can do. Everything was in little dishes, and we had a big glass of water with dinner. Huh.

So I am TOTALLY in a wonderful mood this morning. It's Friday, my hair is doing what I need it to do, my calories are in check (which means that *tonight's* calories will be in check, too, because I'm having shepherd's pie again), and it's a rest day. HOLY MOLY I am just feeling so happy right now!

AND! Last night Brad (my honey) told me that he thought I was still changing - for the better, of course. This was after my stretch class and a little training for my Spartan 300 Challenge. Last night I did:

- box jumps (with two risers and a step) 50x
- pushups - 50x (YES!!! 50!!!! 50 man-pushups!!!!!)
- ab work
- leg press

AAAAAHHHHHHHH I'm so excited!!!! I don't know that I'll be able to meet the 15 minute part of the goal (phew!), but I am feeling good about the rep part of it.

Today:
- water water water (the silly band counting method works really well for me)
- REST DAY!!!!
- spread my good mood around the school (although I'm sure to get smacked)
- clean the veggies as soon as I bring them home

I totally agree with you...its amazing what portion control can do. Also taking your time while eating. I was always one that ate so fast and now I am amazed at how portion control and taking my time makes a toll on my fullne3ss and how I feel later.

    SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY. IF YOU NEED ANYTHING JUST ASK WE ARE ALL HERE FOR YOU. I DO THE SAME BRING HOME MY VEGGIES AND FRUIT MEASURE THEM AND PUT THEM INTO BAGGIES THAT WAY THEY ARE EASY TO GRAB AND GO AND GET ALL 5 SERVINGS IN OF THAT AT LEAST 3 BEING FRUIT AND WATER I ALSO HAVE THAT WORKED OUT IN THE MORNING BEFOR EI LEAVE FOR WORK I HAVE ALLREADY HAD 32 OZ. Tonight my honey has a night off. Woohoo! So I know I won't be Sparking tonight.

We are going to make some soup for dinner (kale, white bean, and soy sausage). Yum!

I have stretch class tonight, and I'm going to start working on my Spartan 300 Challenge moves. They are super hard, so I really need to work on my training. Even if I don't do the 15 minutes, doing all the hard stuff is still going to be good for me. So maybe tonight I'll work on some box jumps, pull-ups, and ab work.

10-10-10 Challenge - Day 4

Still going strong! I am really motivated by my goals and REALLY wanting to see that scale go down for this challenge.

Went for an after-school walk with my workout buddy - the weather was crisp and cool, and just perfect for a walk/run.
Made some WONDERFUL butter-braised baby turnips for dinner. I didn't put *too* much butter in them. Didn't bother tracking the butter because I've been so careful - a little butter is OK by me in the name of good cooking.

I am SO looking forward to my rest day on Friday. I have been working really hard and my body is definitely ready for it. I am also looking forward to my Friday glass(es) of wine and perhaps a little chocolate. Trying to decide if I want to track wine and chocolate on Fridays... I am giving myself ten days of being over in calories, but I really consider that more for nights when I go out to eat or I'm away from home. Friday Night Wine is a really wonderful part of my week, and I don't want to lose that... I don't want *everything* to turn into something I have to watch like a hawk...

Pick out clothes for tomorrow, clean up a bit, plan breakfast, hot bath, BED.

    I always track everything... when I'm in a tracking mode. If I'm over, then I'm over, and I know it. I can adjust the next day to be in the green for the week. Great job on the challenge so far!

    I think that we go through phases starting with tracking obsessively (phase I am currently in) and then we can go more on intuition. You've got this so do what you have to do!

    I agree! I just started and trying to stay on track, but it seems once that weekend comes around and I get to drinking I feel guilty. I just got to stay motivated, do right throughout the week, and make up for it somehow.

Another challenge!

And this one's a doozy. At my gym, they run a yearly challenge called The Spartan 300 Challenge. Every time I see it, I'm totally intimidated, because it's hard. Like, REALLY hard. But this year I took a paper, and I am going to train for it. This is what it looks like:

- 25 Pull-ups (with 45% body weight assist)
- 50 dead lifts - 95 lbs
- 50 push-ups ("man" push-ups)
- 50 box jumps
- 50 floor wipers - 65 lbs
- 50 dumbbell clean and press - 20 lbs (I think it's 25 per arm)
- and finish with another 25 pull-ups (with assist)

And the kicker is that it has to be done within 15 minutes. AAAAAAAHHHH am I totally nuts??? Yes. But, I'm also motivated, and this will give me something to challenge myself. I am meeting with my trainer next week to work out a plan to get me ready. I am a little scared - it's pushing myself harder than I've ever pushed! But I can do it.
I've pushed myself before, and I can do it again.

Phew!

Met my 10-10-10 challenge for today... yahoo!

    Sounds like the Filthy 50 - ten different exercises, 50 reps, in 30 minutes - only harder! 15 minutes? That's not a lot of time. I LOVE/HATE time challenges - because I am so competitive, I push and push myself to beat the clock, so I enjoy that feeling of "winning" - but man! Does it ever hurt. In a good way, of course.
