Sick. Sore throat. Not enough water. I ate too much today.
But I am going to drink some tea and take a hot bath. Took a sick day tomorrow.
My bed and I are going to get re- acquainted.

What a tease...

I got out of my car to get the mail this afternoon and I saw the first hint of snow on my windshield! I love snow! I love snow days, I love two hour delays, I love bundling up with some hot chocolate, and I love taking walks in it.

Today was kind of a mini fresh start for me. I have been losing steam for my 10-10-10 challenge, so yesterday I spent a lot of time figuring out how I could get some excitement back. Part of today's plan was to get stuff done at night so I didn't eat. Well, that's done. I got my gym stuff ready for tomorrow, I cleaned the bathroom, I Swiffered the kitchen floor, and I planned my meals for tomorrow. And I even had dinner already! I decided to eat early tonight so that I could get to bed without feeling super full.

This morning I even managed to leap out of bed and get to the gym for a run. It felt great - I love this time of year when the clocks go back. It's actually light when I am looking out the gym window! Yahoo! It was either go this morning or drag myself out tonight. There is no way I was going to drag myself out tonight, so this morning it was. I'm sure glad I went... it's crappy weather and I would much rather be sitting in my sweats. I even hopped on the scale just to see what last week's carb-fest did to me, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that I hadn't gained anything. It may show up next week (ugh) but I think if I concentrate on my water and my nutrition this week that I should be ok.

I am ready for some couch time. And I don't feel bad - since I got a lot done right when I came home, I can take some time to relax. I will make my lunch tomorrow morning (I just pulled the marinara and it is thawing in the fridge), and the dishes are getting washed. The counter is clean...

    Sounds like you have a had a great day. I practically role out of bed onto my recumbant bike and I love it.. Get 1/2 of my exercising done before work and the other 1/2 when I get home. I had a knee replacement so for me getting back on my bike after I get home actually helps it b/c I sit all day at a desk..

Maybe tomorrow will be same for you.. We had a few snow flakes the other day too, but was 64 today.. go figure. Donna

Week of November 7 - Fall Back!

Well, I didn't weigh in this morning. I felt kind of poopy when I woke up so I decided to use this day as *another* rest day. After a day of being really lazy, though, I got fed up. So about 30 minutes ago I busted out a quick little strength training workout. It felt really good. Worked up a little sweat and got some motivation. Poured myself a big glass of water, and I'm ready for the week.

This is week 5 of the 10-10-10 challenge. Almost half way done!
This week I will focus on staying busy at night so I don't eat. Night time has been my struggle time... I do so much in the morning that I just sit around at night because I feel like I have nothing to do. I will be productive at night so I don't eat, and then maybe I'll get to bed earlier.

Nutrition: I have this week's meals all planned out. They are, of course, subject to change. I just like to have a general idea of where my calories are going and if my meals are too big, too small, just right...
I need to get my water in this week. I've been slacking and I really feel it in my body. With the cold weather and cold season coming up, I have to take care of my body inside and out by making sure I stay hydrated. I just found some Vitamin C powder in my cabinet, so I think I'll start adding some to my water once a day. (I don't know if it *really* works, but I have it, so I might as well try it.)

Fitness: The workouts for this week are planned out. Monday morning run. Tuesday night yoga and kickboxing. Wednesday morning run. Thursday night stretch and Spartan 300 training. Friday morning run. Saturday is free - maybe a spin class?

Off to put in tomorrow's meals...

The most incredible dinner.

Is what I'm eating right now - a slice of warm, homemade pumpkin bread. HOLY MOLY. It has cranberries and walnuts in it, and I made it with fresh farm pumpkin. AAAAHHH it is so good! The recipe is from the America's Test Kitchen Family Cookbook, which is FULL of really great recipes. I have had good results from about 95% of their recipes.

Today I woke up with a cold - ugh. Didn't do a whole lot today; a little laundry, a little baking, a few dishes, and a nap. I also made some really good tahini dressing (which took about 2 seconds to stick in the blender) for my lunch - Romaine with pears, Parmesan cheese, and tahini dressing. Yum. My tum is feeling a little ugh from being sick, so the bread was the only thing I had for dinner. And a glass of wine. I have to move some laundry to the dryer...

I spent a lot of time today planning out next week and looking at my 10-10-10 chart. I had written in a previous blog that I was kind of losing steam... I think I may have to add some new weekly goals to my challenge. It's so difficult for me to keep focus for this long... I'm on a roll tonight, so maybe I'll work on that.

Brad and I are working on our Very Important Paperwork (VIP) and boy, is there a lot of it! We have an IELTS test scheduled for November 20th... we are excited to get the ball rolling. This test is a big step for us...

I'm planning on tomorrow being another non-gym day. This past week was "that time of the three months," and I totally went crazy with the cereal and carbs, so I won't be too disappointed if I miss a weigh-in day.

    Do you make the tahini from scratch, too, or buy it in a jar? I wanted to make hummus because I have a bunch of dried garbanzo beans for some reason but I am not 100% sure what tahini is.
