I have a ton of stuff to do. Gotta go into the city today for a couple appointments (chiropractor and mammogram) so I might as well take care of some other 'busy' stuff.
Started my day with a good breakfast and will get my workout in before I leave.
Time for SmartCoach . . . . which is something I really look forward to everyday. I'm learning so much.
Yesterday's lesson addressed stress and how it impacts our lives. It suggested that we post a blog about it. So, I got started on it right away. Five pages later, I've only hit the highlights. Decided it was much too personal and nobody would believe it or want to read it anyway. So, I'll pass on posting it here. But it is a great way to put it all in a box and stick it on the shelf with the recycle stuff.
So, off I go for another adventure. Hope you make yours a WooooHooooo day!

I just read a blog written by someone with an addiction to those yummy commercial lattes being served up on nearly every block of every town all across the country.
Hey, I can relate . . . . . One of the things that gets me out of bed in the morning is looking forward to a mocha . . . . yes, coffee with chocolate and whipped cream.
I have always loved the smell of coffee, but never have been able to tolerate the taste UNLESS it's heaped with CHOCOLATE,
When I first started trying to lose weight, I thought it'd have to go. Completely. Out of my life. Forever.
But who can resist pulling into the nearest drive-thru for a cold frozen mocha on a hot day OR a hot mocha on a cold day?
Well, I can. Today.
And I'll tell you what makes it possible.
I found fat free hot chocolate in packets. 20 calories each. (Nestle makes one, I'm sure there are others.) And I've been adding one packet to my morning cup of coffee. And for those mornings (most of them) when I want something special, I'll add a few drops of (Torani or DeVinci) sugar-free Carmel or Almond or Vanilla or Marshmello or . . . the list is endless. Then I top it with 2 Tbs pressurized whipped cream.
Calories: 35. Carbs: 5. Fat: 1. Protein: 1.
I can do that!!!
It took a few days to adjust my taste buds but now I think it's yummmy.
It sure beats the cost and the nutritional impact of the commercial ones.

Exercise that is . . . . A couple days ago I found a "Sweating" video with Richard Simmons from the mid-80's at a local thrift sale. (Yes, we still have a VHS player.)
I tried it out yesterday, and although I thought I was warmed up and took it easy, I guess this ol' bod just ain't up to that kind of gyration just yet..... cos today I woke up with a crook back (left ribs, right shoulder). So, we cranked up the temp in the hot tub (which really felt good since it was about 34 degrees out there!) and soaked for a while.
Afterwards I eased into some stretches, and it felt good. So, I kept on going. Yogapalates with Kathy Smith; and then some more stretches with Coach Nichole.
Then I read a friend's blog about doing time on the treadmill and got all inspired (you know who you are) and I got on the elliptical until the battery on my iPod died. (Then it got really boring and I stopped.) Then I had to cool down. A lot.
Over all, I got in over an hour of workout today. Now I've gotta keep my 'activity' level up because I know if I sit down for long, everything's gonna freeze up.
Sucks gettin' old . . . . but it sure does beat the alternative.

I'm so excited that my hubby has slowly succumbed to my new eating habits. In the past, he lost about 50 pounds by doing the Atkins program. When we got together about 4 years ago, I tried Atkins and it didn't work for me. (Having been vegetarian/vegan for 28 years, I still like my fresh fruits and veggies.)
So it's been hit and miss the past 4 years. Mostly miss. When I started SparkPeople, I tried not to say too much about it. But I was so *SPARKY* and kept having all these *WoooooHooooo* moments that he began wondering what was up with me. (When I have a WoooooHooooo moment, I just can't keep still about it!)
Well, without saying much about it, he's been following my lead in making changes to my diet. This morning, when he stepped off the scales, he said he's lost 12 pounds!
How cool is that?!!!

60 years ago, I kept my mother from voting on election day! (ha!)
But more important than that, it was on my 28th birthday (in 1980) that I finally surrendered my heart and life to Jesus. He is my constant and true Companion. I have failed Him so many times, but He has never given up on me. He is the Greatest Gift, and for that, I rejoice today!
