Woke up at 5am & had a cup of coffee w/hubby before he left for work. Noticed the backyard light was on and wondered what had tripped the motion sensor. . . . there was a beautiful fox just sitting by my Cosmos corral. I stepped out onto the back porch and it didn't run away. Wonder if it's the same one that was raising her family of 3 kits under our woodpile a couple years ago because it didn't seem to be phased by me being around whatsoever.
Took the pup out for a walk in the garden (several hours later) and gathered some of the last of the thornless blackberries we planted a couple years ago. Yummmm... what a treat. Seems like not that long ago we were so excited to see the new shoots where the vines would be growing, then the first blossoms, then green berries turned to blackberries . . . and now, the freezer is full of them, and they're drying up on the vine, nearly gone. Our maple tree with its pinks and reds and yellows, is also showing signs of the seasons' change.
It's been a good year. It's been an eventful year. And I am not the same person as I was when the first vines began to grow.
