During this 5 day Christmas ''stay-cation'' (staying at home for vacation!)
I want to keep in the forefront of my mind just how thrilled I am with
my forward progress in my journey at this point,
and I want to hold on tight to my dreams for reaching my goals.
I want to:
FOCUS keep my goals before me
THINK before I stuff some tasty morsel in my mouth
ASK myself "Am I really hungry?" "How am I feeling?"
"Why do I want to eat this?"
TRACK it BEFORE I eat it.
Measure my hunger using SparkCoach chart below:
EAT at 3 or 4
STOP at 5 or 6
Hunger Level Sensations and Symptoms
1 Starving, weak, dizzy
2 Very hungry, cranky, low energy, a lot of stomach growling
3 Pretty hungry, stomach is growling a little
4 Starting to feel a little hungry
5 Satisfied, neither hungry nor full
6 A little full, pleasantly full
7 A little uncomfortable
8 Feeling stuffed
9 Very uncomfortable, stomach hurts
10 So full you feel sick
REMEMBER, it's been hard work to get to this point.
Don't do anything I'm going to regret afterwards.

Snow has been coming down since about 11:30 this morning. Within 2 hours, when I went for a walk, we had 5 or 6 inches. It hasn't let up yet.
Road conditions between home and where hubby works were so bad that the road was closed a number of times due to wrecks. Cars, trucks, SUVs jack knifed semi's, propane trucks and school buses all over the place.
Hubby made it home safely and the boss told him not to come in tomorrow . . . so Christmas vacation starts NOW!
We've already had a lot of snow laden branches fall around us and I'm not sure how long we'll have power so I'll say it now . . .
Wishing each of you a very Merry Christmas.
Remember how important your goals are and how far you've come already. Be good to yourself.
Make it the best Christmas you've ever had!

When I began with SparkPeople in October, I started putting together a chain of paperclips. As each pound came off, I added one paperclip to the chain to represent each pound that's gone forever.
They're hanging from a lamp over my desk. I have to move them in order to turn that lamp on and off, so I see them and touch them every day.
There are 17 paperclips hanging there right now.
Today, I placed 8 more paperclips in a separate container on my desk where I can see them. Those represent the pounds that will go away by the time I reach my first goal.
It's a good reminder for me.
I'm want to do something really special with that chain of 25 paperclips when I reach my goal . . . . Any ideas?

As is the case most mornings, this morning while straightening up the house, I found myself walking from one end of the house to the other. Then back again, and again. And again. Why not make this count ??
And in an attempt to create a list of fitness options that fits MY life, I decided to accomplish two goals with one gallant effort. (I think that sounds way better than killing two birds with one stone.)
So, on my next trip through the house, I didn't take the shortest route from here to there... I walked the outside perimeter of the rooms. Then I walked a loop around the island in the kitchen. In my office, I pulled the hassock away from the chair and walked a figure 8 around them. Then I did the same thing with the piano bench and keyboard. Then I pulled the recliner away from the wall and walked circles around it and the coffee table. You get the idea.
Then, I began to pump my arms like when I used to run. Okay, I did a couple laps like that. Now I'm starting to break a sweat. Then I started cornering alternating between 'airplane' and 'Superman' style (one arm out front or side, guiding my flight).
Okay, by now, Bad Leroy Brown is starting to freak out, looking at me as if to say "What's up with mom?"
Well, that backfired on him cos I said "you little tugboat, you need some exercise too!" So I grabbed one of his treats and teased him with it until he started chasing me.
I'm REALLY glad we live out in the country on 5 acres with a gate across the driveway so none of the neighbors can see what's going on inside!
That was fun!

Well, hubby's stuffed chicken breasts that were planned for dinner last night went into the oven about 5 minutes before the electricity went out. Thankfully, the oven had been pre-heated and he'd left the iron grill in by mistake. So, dinner was over an hour late . . . and I was already starving. I was ready to raid the kitchen . . . but didn't.
When the chicken finally cooked (thank God for the grill!) I ate my portion of cold green beans out of the can and stuffed chicken breast which only filled up one small corner of my empty tummy.
Half an hour after dinner, I was still hungry and had a piece of bread and half a tablespoon of peanut butter thinking that would fill the gap. (Still well inside my nutrition range but didn't know it because I had no internet.)
I woke up several times hungry last night and drank cold water.
The high winds in last night's storm brought down a lot of branches (we live on 5 wooded acres) so this morning after breakfast, I spent almost an hour huffin & puffin, dragging limbs and debris and clearing our driveway and lawn area.
By 10:30 I'm starving again. So, I had a second breakfast (ham & eggs w/veggies & mushrooms). More water.
By 12:30, I've already had 8 glasses of water, chewed some gum, everything I can think of . . . Same thing. Starving again. So I had a tuna salad with a double helping of salad, and a 100 cal bag of popcorn.
I still want to do my scheduled core/ab workout routine.
I already have dinner planned out and I'm still within range. But I know I'm going to be famished before dinner at 6:30.
This doesn't happen very often, but I recognize that in the past . . . this spells B-I-N-G-E !!!!
HELP!!! What do you do when you can't eat enough to fill you up?
