Imagine that you are perfectly content with every aspect your life.
What does that life look like?
What steps do you have to take to make that life a reality?
Instead of WISHING, start DOING.
Put a plan into action today!
The above was my SparkCoach Daily Visualization for today and isn't that timely?!
Tomorrow is New Year's Eve and I've been pondering resolutions. I've never been one to make a new years resolution, but then I've never felt sufficiently confident or empowered to actually set a goal before. But that was before I got SPARKED! Wooohooo!
I retired last year and have been working towards simplifying, reorganizing my life and getting healthy. That is a work in progress. One of the things I really need to focus on is to slow down and relax.
Here is a part of my daily SparkPeople check in, short term goals:
Keep a goal journal.
Keep your goals in front of you.
Begin each day with the end (our goals) in mind.
During the day, do and pay attention to one thing at a time.
If faced with a mistake, failure or tough situation, think of two lessons you can learn from the experience.
When making a decision, follow your values and believes, not popular opinion or social pressures.
Let your imagination soar.
Do fatigue/tension self-checks throughout the day.
Pursue a creative outlet or hobby.
Visualization technique, using all five senses.
Aromatherapy, candles or oils.
Prayer or Reflection.
Shake it out (as needed).
Once a week, spend time near or listening to a body of water.
Choose a positive word or phrase to use each day.
Take some quiet time alone to reflect on problems, possible solutions, and your vision of a better day.
Practice saying "No" to those things not relevant to your goals.
Work toward an activity that you consider "bigger" or more important than yourself or your life.
Sit still and enjoy the blessings that you're working so hard for.
I just added these to my daily SparkCoach goals:
Eat a healthy breakfast
Use a piece of fitness equipment each day
Give yourself a 5-minute pep talk each day
More to come . . . .

To kick off our 4 day "out with the old, in with the new" weekend, for breakfast this morning hubby grilled steak and pineapple and served them with twice baked potatoes and a yummy salad with beets and garbanzos.
544 calories including salad dressing and a cup of hot chocolate.
My tummy is very happy and it may be time for a nap or another cup of coffee. Hopefully the weather will stay calm and I can get some yard work done. We still have a lot of limbs down from the wind and snow.
Have you made any plans for the day or weekend????

Bad Leroy Brown doesn't care much for SparkPeople.
He's written a letter and asked me to share with you:
Hi. I'm Bad Leroy Brown. That's me in the picture above, beside the elephants, guarding mom's desk in her office. That's where I spend a lot of time now.
Before mom joined SparkPeople in October, I had it made. Mom would usually sit on the couch most of the day reading a book or chatting with her friends and family on Facebook. So, being the faithful companion that I am, I would snuggle in her lap or right up against her on the couch. It was great.
But because of SparkPeople, she doesn't sit down very often anymore. She's always up and doing stuff in the house or outside. Used to be when she tried to do stuff outside, she'd always have to stop because her back or hips or shoulders would start to hurt. I heard her tell dad the other day that the workout videos she's been doing with Coach Nichole has made her feel so much better. Well, Coach Nichole might be kinda cute but come to think of it, I don't think I like her very much either.
The other day mom was acting really weird - walking fast from the bedroom into the living room and then into her office, and walking circles around the couch and chairs and stuff like that.
And if that wasn't bad enough, she started teasing me with one of my favorite treats and wouldn't give it to me. She made me get out of my comfortable bed to try to get it. And then she started running again and I had to chase her all over the house to finally get it. Whew! I was tired and panting afterwards! I think I slept the rest of that day!
I guess I should be really happy for mom because she is so much happier. She smiles all the time. She's always doing stuff, listening to music and dancing around the house. She even tries to sing sometimes. (Ewwww.) She does a lot of stuff that dad used to do like bring in firewood and do stuff in the yard and around the pond.
Maybe it won't be too bad if she doesn't make me chase her anymore. But I notice she's beginning to call me names like 'Tugboat' and 'Piglet'. What's up with that anyway?
Mom has been telling everybody about SparkPeople and how she's made so many really cool SparkFriends.
Anyway, thanks for being nice to my mom. She gets a little bit weird some times but she's relatively harmless.

BACKGROUND: When I started at SP in October, I just wanted to lose weight.
SP asked me for a goal weight, so I plugged in 158. (I didn't really care . . . just wanted to be under 160).
Well, I am 162 right now which is 5 pounds away from that number.
However, 158 is not my final destination. ( And I'm still not sure what number that will be.)
A few weeks ago, when I dropped below 170, I switched my goal weight to 155, and that's what the tracker is based on today.
Okay, now I'm thinking about setting goals for next year and am considering resetting my goal weight to 145, thinking that may be where I want to hold and do maintenance for a while.
MY QUESTION FOR YOU:
Do you think I should attain my goal at 155 BEFORE resetting my goal?
Do you think I should reset my goal to 145 NOW and go for it?
(And if you care to share the reason for your answer, I'd like to hear it.)
Thank you! Let's make 2013 our best year yet!

I thought this was funny and thought some folks may be able to relate as I've seen a number of blog titles implying folks are 'starting over' after the Christmas festivities.
We ate well during the 5 day Christmas mini-vacation. Hubby wanted something sweet and asked me to make the Quaker Oat Apple Crisp again. We polished that sucker off in 2 days! But I calculated for a couple of double servings. With 4 Tablespoons of whipped cream. Yummmm.
I haven't been as active as I normally would be and was feeling a bit reluctant to get on the scales this morning. But I did it. Couldn't believe I was half a pound down.
So, how did you do over the holidays?
