I'm getting ready to paint another wall. And as so often happens, it's not as simple as it sounds. Before I can paint, I have to move the furniture and all the stuff covering the wall. But before that, I have to find somewhere to put the stuff that I have to move before I can move the stuff that has to be moved so I can paint.
On this particular wall we have the old garden gate that had been part of the deer fence around our garden for many years. It has a really old hand-sawn wood frame and some ratty, mangled fence wire that's survived the years. I love that old gate.
On another wall, we have the old barn door. Hung over the top corner is the rope my hubby's dad used for his horse. And on another corner hangs a rusty bunch of barbed wire that he coiled up and left on a nail 30 years ago.
Next to that is our Cabinet of Curiosities. Odds and ends. Stuff we've collected over the years. Woodworking tools, grading instruments from hubby's days as a lumber grader, an old watch and chain, old kitchen utensils, a belt buckle, a tobacco tin, an old cigar box, a set of china Collies given me by my dad when I was a kid. Not much worth a nickle but I wouldn't take a million bucks for any of it.
After all the clutter has been moved, all that's left is a bare wall, in desperate need of a makeover.
An empty canvas. Sort of like each new day.
What shall I do with it?

Our first annual Polar Bear ride to the coast was magnificent. Snow covered mountains surrounding our valley, as well as along side the road. The 41 degree temp reading on the bike must have been inside the engine compartment!
We stopped for a couple tacos in Brookings but I'm sure I had shivered them away by the time we hit Hiouchi on the way home..... well before we hit windy windy canyon (windy #1 - as in a lot of wind racing through the canyon, windchill decreasing temp significantly!) (and windy #2 - as in windy road -- lots of curves and switchbacks).
The coolest thing is that after I got dressed (4 warm layers under my lined leather jacket PLUS leather chaps, heavy jeans, 2 pair of heavy socks and insulated boots) I stepped on the scales and I was still 2 pounds BELOW what I weighed naked just 3 months ago!!!
