SparkCoach today was about setting SMART. goals.
Here are my thoughts and notes.
Specific - be detailed including who, how, what, when
Measurable - how much, how often
Attainable - within my skills and ability
Realistic - set goals am I willing and able to reach
Timely - setting a deadline (specific date)
which includes several mini goals
Positive - emphasis on positive: what I can do/have
rather than what I can't (restrictions)
Healthful living is a continuing series of good choices
(personal, nutritional, fitness and weight loss choices)
supported by setting & attaining short and long range goals.
Coach Nichole encourages that these goals be written down (SparkPage, bulletin board, etc.) and kept where they can be seen to serve as reminders, and progress recorded in daily blogs.

On Day 1 of my new journey, I wanted a change, something different.
I needed a kick start so I put on some music . . . I picked one one of my fav music dvds and got it done with some geriatric Zumba.
Here's my go-to song when I want to kick it up a notch
(Hope the link works . . . if it doesn't, you can do a web search (using Spark's web search of course) for Be Good to Yourself with Steve Perry & Journey.

Here's my motivation for today: the Daily Visualization from SparkCoach
"Today, picture yourself paging through a flipbook that shows the progression of your body from the beginning of your weight loss to the achievement of your goal weight. How does it make you feel to see yourself shrink before your very eyes? If you find yourself having trouble today, imagine that every little healthy choice you make gets you one page closer to your healthier self. "
This just happened!!! Yesterday (Day 2, no blog) was very warm and I was wishing for a pair of short pants. Hey! I wonder if I can fit into any of my old ones, you know, the ones in the bottom draw I haven't been able to get my rear into in years?!
Being hopeful, but without getting my hopes up too high, I pulled out 3 pair. THEY FIT!!! They REALLY fit!!!!
The second part of SparkCoach today was about the Power of 10. How easy it is to get motivated at the beginning of a fitness program by thinking "I'm going to do 1 hour a day!" How easy it is to become discouraged when we just don't have the time or energy to do it. Staring in the face of failure or defeat will often cause us to just give up. But making a commitment to 10 minutes a day is do-able. And 10 minutes makes a difference.
So, my commitment is 10 minutes, twice a day, five days a week.
I know I can do it because I've had a Spark Streak going for 101 days .
Now it's time to kick it up a notch and see even more results!
