Today I am to list at least 3 things I've accomplished recently to further my journey to health:
1. I've switched my focus from numbers (specifically, the number on the scale) to focusing on my health.
2. I've sent a goal to attempt at least one new recipe each week.
3. I'm doing research on meditation for dealing with chronic shoulder pain. (Xrays reveal nothing, and I am not willing to undergo exploratory surgery.)
4. Continue dealing with & dumping repressed issues from my past.
5. Continue MOVIN' IT at least 10 minutes, twice a day.
6. Learn to like me.

A well known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In the room of 200, he asked. “Who would like this $20 bill?”
Hands started going up. He said, “I am going to give this $20 to one of you – but first, let me do this.”
He proceeded to crumple the 20 dollar note up. He then asked. “Who still wants it?” Still the hands were up in the air.
“Well,” he replied, “what if I do this?” He dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. “Now, who still wants it?”
Still the hands went into the air.
“My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20.
Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless; but no matter what happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value.
Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who love you. The worth of our lives comes, not in what we do or who we know, but by …WHO WE ARE.
You are special – don’t ever forget it. (Author unknown)

I think I'm finally learning that I don't have to be addicted to a certain fitness routine.
(I just read a blog where a sparker just can't allow themselves NOT to work out for fear they'll lose momentum. I am in NO way judging my fellow Sparker. I'm just saying that way doesn't work for me. That's the beauty of SparkPeople . . different strokes for different folks. And so on, and so on, and...)
I want to be a willing participant on my Spark Journey towards better health - not a captive slave.
This past couple weeks (not long after I set my goal to lose another 10 pounds) I've had to deal with this shoulder thing, again. It's really cramping my style. But I know, if I don't listen to my body, I will pay. Big time trouble. But, rather than throwing the baby out with the bathwater (so to speak), I am trying to be consistent with what I CAN do . . . and using this time to check out other things. . . like a couple new recipes each week. But it's all working together towards my BIG plan.
So, no, the weight is not coming off like I'd hoped. . . . and I'm certainly not setting any land speed records in my journey. But I AM going to get there, just the same, because I am dedicated to my goal.
So, I'm just gonna keep on truckin . . .
The official definition of that phrase is: To continue or persist, regardless of circumstances or setbacks; to keep trying or striving towards a goal.

Answering machine message,
"I am not available right now,
but thank you for caring enough to call.
I am making some changes in my life.
Please leave a message after the beep.
If I do not return your call,
you are one of the changes."
Aspire to inspire before you expire.
My wife and I had words,
but I didn't get to use mine.
Frustration is trying to find your glasses
without your glasses.
Blessed are those who can
give without remembering
and take without forgetting.
The irony of life is that,
by the time you're old enough
to know your way around,
you're not going anywhere.
I just took a leaflet out of my mailbox,
informing me that I can have sex at 66.
I'm so happy, because I live at number 72.
So it's not too far to walk home afterwards.
And it's the same side of the street.
I don't even have to cross the road!
This quote by Jay Leno
gives us something to think about:
"With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control,
mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms
tearing up the country from one end to another,
and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks,
are we sure this is a good time to take
God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"
