Saw an interesting blip on Dr Oz today about eating lower carb(s) to help with brain function, and to focus on above ground veggies, some limited fruit. It is a huge difference in approach from what has been suggested the last decade or so. They went so far as to suggest butter is in the healthy category for fats and to reduce carbs, increase fats. Kinda blows my mind. I really have a hard time following the reasoning with such limited information but they suggested this was hugely important for preventing dementia. Hope there will be clarifying information available in the future b/c I don't feel like I know nearly enough or why to change based on this. I feel like they scared the bejeebers out of me though... makes me wonder if what I know is even true.
