Ugly Duckling

Friday, April 04, 2008

This is one of my teen devotions but it really speaks to me today! You can hit the link below to visit it and the lesson "Searching Through the Brush," and the daily devotions that go with it..or just see if the Lord speaks to you as He does to me through this. Joshua is our special needs grandson and in this one, the critters comfort him after he is ridiculed.

Ugly Duckling?

Do you know someone who is being shunned as an "ugly duckling?" How sad they must feel. My heart goes out to those whom the world labels because of their outward appearance.

God wants us to think about all people the way He does. We need to help others, not hinder them. Every word and action we take concerning others must be for the purpose of building them up, not tearing them down. What a person is like on the inside, in their inner being, is where God is looking to find hearts that are turned to Him. We can help others to have a heart for God by showing them His kindness and goodness!

James 3:9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness.

Cher, I love your story, it is so true, we need to be so very careful of other people's feelings.. I am so thankful the Lord looks at our heart and does not judge us by the outward appearance..It is my prayer that I can be a blessing to other people and show the kindness and compassion that the Lord has shown to me.. Thanks for the reminder..

Heavenly Ascent

Saturday, March 22, 2008

The Bible Says:

"Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God."
Colossians 3:1
Easter - Heavenly Ascent
I hope Easter is a very special day at your house. You will go to church with family or friends and learn some wonderful things about Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Gramma Cherbear wants you to pay very close attention so you will learn the most important lesson of the year!

Our God is an Awesome God. He brings us to Himself when we receive the gift of His Son. Jesus suffered, died and was separated from Father God because of our sins. He took our punishment and has given us the way to escape eternal life in hell. Three days after His terrible death on the cross, Jesus was raised from the dead. This is the day we celebrate on Easter Sunday. He sits at the right hand of His Father in heaven. He intercedes for those who belong to Him. Jesus sends His Holy Spirit to live in our hearts when we ask Him to. We need to tell Jesus we love Him everyday and be thankful He came to save us!

(picture here)

Gramma's Critters have one person on their mind today. Jesus! It is a very special day. It is Easter! Jesus was raised to a new life on this day. The Critters will pray in a special way. They will be thinking about heaven and keep their thoughts turned toward God. They will thank Him for sending Jesus to save them, and for bringing Him back to a new life in heaven. They will worship and praise the Lord Jesus.

There is nothing more important than knowing we belong to God. Because of Jesus we can be sure. If you already have Jesus in your heart and know you are God's child, it is a day to be thankful. If you have never asked Jesus into your heart, pray and ask God to speak to your heart about becoming His child. Tell Him you want to know Him in a personal way. Ask your parents, church school teachers or pastors to help you know Jesus as your Savior. Let them explain how Jesus needs to be in the center of your life and why you need to let Him be the boss of your life! God bless you!
2001 Cherbear

If you have not asked Jesus to live in your heart, you can do that today!
Pray this prayer:
Father God,

I understand I have sin in my life. You are a Holy God and cannot look upon my sin. I ask You to fill my empty heart with Jesus and cleanse me. I believe that Jesus is Your Son. He was punished for my sins on the cross of Calvary. He died for me because He loves me unconditionally. I believe He was raised from the dead on the third day and is seated at the right hand of God to make intercession for me. Please forgive me for my sins. Thank you for sending Your Holy Spirit to live inside of me. Grow me into a mature love relationship with You as I seek to obey Your Word. Thank you God, for Your wonderful plan for my life. I am Your child today and for eternity.

If you prayed this prayer and asked Jesus to come into your heart,
please tell your Church School teacher or Pastor that you did.
They will want to guide you in God's Word!

Bridging the Gap

Friday, March 21, 2008

This is my Palm Sunday Lesson for the Teans on my site and I could not resist putting it up first. For those who are interested, I will try to post the Easter Sunday message on Sat. night.

The Bible Says:
"...We are full of joy in God because of
our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of him,
God has brought us back to himself"
Romans 5:11
Palm Sunday - Bridging the Gap
Have you ever been on a bridge and looked below? They keep you from falling into dangerous places! Having a safe way to get where you need to go, is a real blessing. God has prepared a safe way for you to come to Him. It is a part of the wonderful plan He has for your life on earth and in Heaven.

Jesus was God's only Son and God's Son came to earth. God told us all about it in His Word. He wants us to know how to come to Him! The Bible is God's voice to us about what His Son has done to save us. It tells how Jesus built the bridge to lead us across a huge gap. This gap separates us from God. The gap is our sins, the wrong things we do! God does not want us to fall into sin. Before we know Jesus, we are lost from God. Our spirits cannot know God's Spirit. God loves us and is waiting for us to come across the bridge. Jesus will forgive our sins so we can have the blessing of knowing God and living forever with Him. Our spirit can be connected to God's Spirit forever. This is the greatest of all God's blessings.

(Picture above)

The Kid Cave Critters need to go to the other side of the forest. Liam Leapfrog already went across and is waiting for his friends to follow him. He hopped across this bridge! The waters are very rough below. He did not want to be separated from His friends. Cami Cub does not want to be left behind. Gramma's Critters are very thankful for this bridge.

There is life forever on the side where God is. Jesus is the only bridge that will lead us safely to God.

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me."
John 14:6

Will you hop across as Liam did? Will you tell your friends and family to come to know Jesus? God will bring them to himself if they will love His Son. Jesus made our way to Father God. We need to tell those who have not found God. If we really care the way God cares, we will tell them. God's Holy Spirit will help us!

Lean on the Word

Friday, March 14, 2008

Trust Not in Your Understanding! Lean on The Word!

Have you ever noticed how easily your mind can play tricks on you? You think something for a while and then later, you realize it was totally off the wall? Christians are a prime target for Satan as he seeks to control us with our minds. Satan's relentless endeavors to destroy us with our thinking should lead us to cry out for God to help us discern what is true from what is not.
"IN FAITH, HE..." drew me to His Word! The answer to every question in life is in His Word! That's where we must look for Truth! God says that His Spirit will lead us to all Truth and that we must lean on His Word for our understanding. This holds true in every aspect of life. Love. Faith. Pain. Joy. Good verses Evil. Life Circumstances. All are covered in His Word. God did not leave us in the dark. Seek His Truth in every area of your life. He never changes and His Word is Life! It never changes!

Are you a Believer, in Christ?

Peter was talking to Believers when he said:

1Pet. 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Are you walking a Spirit Filled Life, in Christ?

Jesus was speaking to Disciples when he said:

John 16:13-15 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.

Who and What do you put your trust in? Is it Jesus? The Word?

Solomon was speaking to God's people when he said:

Prov. 3:5-8 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.

Praise you Father God that I do not have to trust in my own finite thinking. Thank you Jesus for bringing me out of darkness into your wonderful light. I praise you Lord for giving me your Holy Spirit, whom I can lean on and trust. Your Word brings revelation, correction and right thinking to my mind! Alleluia! Amen!

Sometimes our circumstances can become so rocky all we can see is the waves. Its really great to get that reminder to look away to Him alone who sees and knows all.

Death to Self - Life in the Spirit

Wednesday, March 12, 2008

Written many years ago, reading this one, is helping me see I must be patient and not get ahead of God on this weight loss journey. I've been so exited that I am not in pain like I have been known to get (Praise God!) that I just want to do more & more. I need to EXERCISE a bit of caution with this and do it ONE DAY AT A TIME! Thanks girls on that team and from the Can't Do This By Myself team. You do help others in your walk.

Death to Self - Life in the Spirit

So often my "self" threatens the quality of my service and commitment to God. It's a natural phenomena. However, it is a very real daily problem facing Christians. The accounts are too many to focus on one. I'm sure you understand.

I find that when I cry out to Jesus for recovery when "self" gets in the way, "IN FAITH, HE..." meets the need. His peace, power, courage, compassion, forgiveness, or humbling spirit, are mine for the asking. A cry for "death to self" brings forth the fruits of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, indwelling every born again believer. He is quick with our recovery. We see instant results, and we get to see Him do it! Yes!

Gal. 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control...!

Precious Lord,
Resting in your goodness, giving you the reigns and trusting not in who I am but who You are in me; Your Spirit lets me know when I am out of line with you. Thank you for the nudges that help me to grow and learn a better way. Thank you for Life in the Spirit. Amen
