Picturing myself at my goal

Friday, June 14, 2013

SparkCoach visualization:

It is encouraging to imagine myself at my goal weight, a point where I see myself as strong and capable. I have seen it in the past – the more I work out, the easier it becomes. The best part is that once workouts become “easier,” I am more comfortable with challenging myself and pushing past what was previously my limit. It is such a motivator to feel my body get stronger.

The thing that worries me when it comes to working out is how quickly I slide back into weakness after taking time off from exercising. When something else in my life comes up that takes priority, working out, and eating right, fall to the back burner. This makes it so much more difficult to pick up where I left off when I get my motivation back, and creates another setback and another discouragement.

When I picture myself at my goal, I see someone who enjoys being active and working out, for its own sake. If I keep focusing on that mentality, it will be easier to see exercising as less of a chore, and more of a priority in my life. I need to keep the mindset that working out is something I enjoy doing (and it really is!). I need to remember that the stronger I become, the more I enjoy activities that were previously seen as “too hard,” or “boring,” like practicing yoga, or rock climbing. Keeping these thoughts in the front of my mind should help me when I start to let exercise slip toward the bottom of my priority list.

What habits can I work on today? Allowing myself to enjoy working out and getting stronger, for its own sake, not necessarily as just a part of the path to losing weight. Feeling that strength and confidence is its own reward, no matter what the scale says.

Started the day with some bad news. I'm a bit lost right now because of that, but the good thing is that I have learned to deal with stress in better ways. Made sure to work out today instead of moping around, and I do feel a bit better.

Now I just need to figure out my summer plans.
