    Its a short sentence and a huge concept to wrap your mind around to the point of acceptance. Yet it is only when you can accept that, that you become able to limit your diet and move to replace the unhealthy eating habits and foods with healthy ones, and move forward on your journey.

    You can do this...Instead of eating a to z....try something new.
Hubby is on the see food diet....eat everything you see and that is why he is in trouble.

Proverbs 15:23b NLT says, "it is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time!" I was getting discouraged and toying with the idea to drop out of Spark people for awhile. The temptation came as a result of eating too many carbs/sugar and refusing to track it. One day leads to the next and before you know it a week goes by. As a newly diagnosed Type 2 diabetic, I'm in mourning over the loss of my quick fix comforter aka sugar. I feel that I'm skipping around in the five stages of grief... denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. I climb up and down that mountain of feelings every day on some days. But praise God, He is faithful. He hears our prayers. He is "always ready to help in times of trouble," Psalms 46:1b NLT. Your post was the right thing at the right time. I'm encouraged today by your Spark friendship. I won't give up. I'll battle on. Keep your distance sugar! I'm on to your tricks!

    I have been a type 2 diabetic for over 20 years. It still has times it is just totally hard to accept that I can't eat like everyone else without diabetes. I get mad and angry and depressed and then I get over it and go back to doing what I know is right for me if I wish to stay healthy. And I do, because the complications and the alternative is too horrible to even contemplate for me. Instead I can finally say and mean it, this is what I choose to do for myself. Will that make the feelings of Damn! I hate that I am a diabetic! ever go away? I doubt it. But as you get thru your stages of grief to acceptance it will lessen it Refined sugar and high Carbohydrates are mortal enemies for sure. They threaten your life. Imagine if you let someone live in your house only to find they were slowly poisoning you to death? That is what is happening and you need to use all your wits and cleverness and determination and yes even courage to take action against them. But you also need to educate yourself to see that you can have a pretty normal life with a little dietary management and a good fitness plan, and you want those in your life anyway. Imagine my surprise to find that I prefer the Mediterranean style of eating to all the heavy fatty sugar and sodum laden junk I was stuffing in, and that I love the way my body feels when it moves and the feeling of accomplishment I get when I finish a workout. Try to focus on what you can have and do and less on what you can't have or do and you will soon feel better. In the meanwhile first diagnosis is devastating and hard to accept as real. emoticon give yourself time and be kind to yourself just as you would be to a friend who was just diagnosed . If you work on it now while it is new you can get yourself retrained into healthy habits and live a fairly normal pleasant life, and maybe escape all the complications that come from poor care and not being diagnosed for too long.

    I am a type 2 diabetic too and it isn't fun...especially when your downfall is sweets and I can't eat those sweetners because they make me sick.
You know that it takes time to get rid of bad habits and it takes focus. My sugar was 108 in the afternoon but that doesn't always happen. I am trying to eat more veggies and I don't eat meat anymore...but it is that darn candybar or frozen yogurt. The best thing is don't bring it home.
You can do this and I am so proud of you for not quitting. Diabetes is a bad disease but you can do this...we all can. I am right there cheering you on. emoticon pam

  to give up is to die . You have to fight . sugar is a mortal enemy . It will take over and your body will be overrun with aches and pains and not work properly . we do not notice the ruin of our life's but it comes slowly and surely . one day you are fine and the next week weak and unfit .

    Never Give Up!! You may lose slow, you may not get in the exercise you think you should, you may feel discouraged, you may have set backs....But NEVER, NEVER Give IN.....YOU ARE STRONGER THAN THAT!!

One Baby Step at a time! Don't let that sugar monster take control of your life.

Large blessing - a weekend with my daughter shopping, eating out (soup & salad) and seeing Wicked

Medium blessing - having the energy from eating right to do the above activities

Small blessing - saying NO! to overeating last night

To All Who Hate Veggies

Here's a smoothie that worked for me:

1/3 cup of cold, cooked carrots
1 cup of frozen mixed fruit
Lime flavored water (Walmart brand)

I put it into my blender on food chop setting, then max ice crush, and Whoa!

It tastes great! Looks pretty. And best of all... you can't taste the carrots.

Just one more way to get in another veggie!
