A carpentry weekend, OH NO!

Friday, July 13, 2012

Its a carpentry weekend, not my forte.
Pray for my thumbs, theyll be in the way.
Hammer and nails, maybe a saw or two.
Other nails too, soon will be blue.
Spark Friends will be of support.
That will prompt my only retort.
The only upside, that I can see
is that my helper is worser than me.

I keep thinking that if I just get more power tools, then things will be perfect.

I would help, if I were there
But Im not sure how we would fare
The only problem that I would see
Is those darn nails would end bent in a V

Youth is so...

Saturday, December 24, 2011

... wasted on the young. (Tounge-in-cheek here) I'm sitting here, ten days into no weight lifting due to a pulled Trapezius and really figiting about it. So, Monday my wife comes home from the night class and one of her students, a big soccer player, was walking around on the ball of one foot complaining of pain in trying to set his foot to a normal position after Sundays league game and, as she's mentioned my playing the game, asked what he should do for it. Hardly thinking about it I grunted something about knee hyperextention and heat to treat it. By Wednesday he's fine. "Wow, that really worked!" he says to my wife. I know my injury and am doing everything right to treat it and it's not ready to resume after a week. This guy is fine in 24 hours. In the original movie Arthur, Dudley Moore asks John Gielgood what he wants. Gielgoods' response, "I want to be young again" Dudleys' response "Sorry, it's your job to be older". Sigh...

We should aim to be young at heart, literally, by doing our most to keep healthy in mind, body and spirit.

We will all get there if we are lucky enough to make it. Glad you helped the problem.

No retreat, baby no surrender.

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

Thanks to The Boss for the header but I'm here to talk about the worst month in my fitness program, December. Here we are at the edge and I've sworn to emerge 01/02/12 the same weight as 12/01/1. This will take real concentration from now until 01/02/12 to make this real. Who's ready to come along in this effort? No retreat, no surrender! C'mon!

Well, what a great idea! I'm vegan, so typically, the holidays aren't too tough for me in terms of food, but I love the idea of setting a specific time-defined goal during what is commonly the craziest time of the year. So here's mine:

I'll get my exercise in 6 of every 7 days between now and Jan 1.

Thanks for the "Spark!"

This is my goal, too. So far I'm hanging in there, but not by much.
