My March Madness....
1. Try to go a little hungry....I was told that by my Dr. in 1960 and it is a good for me idea. Not starve.....but be willing to go a little hungry.
2. Get those veggies/fruits and protein in daily.
3. Be reflective and read the Lenten study book.
4. Use the sleep apnea machine and the meds for heart daily.
5, Accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative.
6. Move it, move it, move it!
Got my blood work this morning to check on the statin med. I have Been regular with it. I forget my chlorestoral med sometimes.. Must get better.
Basically I want to eat right, exercise, do meds.... and prevent a stroke .
I Modified the paleo meal plan cause of my diverticulitis. Meats, protein, raw veggies are great, but i need the cooked veggies et al. too. I am satisfied with my adjustments.
Dr Oz has a Paleo playbook I started with www.doctoroz.com/videos/paleo-diet-p laybook Adapted for my personal needs and health. I especially like building a paleo plate for every meal. And eliminating inflammatory foods. Having a protein at each meal is a key for me.
I like some of the Paleoista recipes from the Dr Oz Website The paleoista cinnamon baked apples are a favorite.
It is tender to be elderly....old...on Valentine's Day and have a companion you love. So many of my friends are widows. Almost all. I am so lucky. Thank you God.
Our Valentine's have been modest. Mostly centered around the kids taking cards or treats to school class. My dear mother made me treats for Valentine's day since I had a summer birthday, and we did the same for granddaughter. As a teacher, I continued the Valentine Day for children.
Sometimes DH would buy me small gifts...stuffed animal, plastic red roses, licorice, or other items that I enjoyed ans said he loved me. And I have kept them.
When our oldest granddaughter was growing DH would gift her on Valentine's Day so she would have a treat since her folks were divorced. And we now send a card usually with $2 bills to all 8 grandkids, sometimes mor.
Back to our aged Valentine's day.....big changes. I got waterpoof bed pads. And Breeze nutrition drink that has 250 calories and Boost VHC protein drink that has 550 calories to build DH up. He got treats for our dogs. And vacuumed the carpets. And I try to make him feel good and comfortable, but he often thinks I am nagging as I explain a PBS tv plot or what they said to this formerly brilliant man. It's Fri so we will enjoy watching Blue Bloods. And enjoy supper together.
Times have changed and our wants and needs have too. But it is more special to have each other. We are caretaking for each other.
May you have a nice day Spark Friends. Glad you are here.
