Reasons on why I want to lose weight

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

I just watched Spark Coach talk about motivation. What are the real reasons I want to lose weight?
The first reason is my own health. I have significant arthritis. Losing weight will make it easier on my own joints and if I have replacements. I could hardly move three months ago after a reaction to levaquin. Fortunately, that is better, but it was a lesson. Do I want a wheelchair lifestyle?
Second, I want to be an example for my children, four very large sons who all need help. We are compulsive eaters. We have some OCD in our family. But we can do this.
Third, I really want to shop for nice clothes, fun clothes and shoes. Fingers crossed and food plan working, I'll get there.

Reasons to exercise vs reasons not to exercise

Tuesday, June 11, 2013

1. I always feel better - I don't feel good enough to go to the gym. Everything hurts
2. I like wearing work out clothes - it takes effort to change
3. I can be careful with my old arthritic joints - I don't want to hurt myself any more
4. my body craves a work out - I tell myself fI don't have the enrgy, etc. to go.

So easys to get discouraged

Wednesday, May 01, 2013

Have slid away from sugar free. Recently traveled to Dominica in the Caribbean and got a travel cold. Ended up with sugary stuff to suppress the cough. Ugh. Also, because I am wheat free, ended up eating a lot of trail mix - so high in sugary calories. Now am trying to regain that good feeling that came with being sugar free. I did have some recent blood work and wow - cholesterol 169. Triglycerides 90. IMPROVED. Am also down a size. I am headed back to good choices. Need a shot in the arm or kick in the pants for more exercise, though.
BTW, Dominica is beautiful. A rain forest. What 300 inches of rain can do. I'm an Arizona girl - we are lucky to get 10.

You will make good choices because you are blogging about doing it.

so easy to catch colds in airplanes, the air conditioning makes sure that everyone gets their fair share of everybody's germs!
glad you enjoyed your time in the Caribbean, the rest will pass. don't worry, you're doing fine. life is not a straight line.

Spring cleaning

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

Citrus trees are blooming, an indication its time to shake of the winter, flu, cold doldrums and move.
Moving some more, stiff, but able. Love the water.
Working to be sugar free. Already gluten free. It makes a difference in how I feel.
Have started juicing - here's a good recipe - six carrots, two granny smith apples, a lemon. WOW.

A bit of a wanderer, then home

Thursday, January 31, 2013

I guess I like to wander, you know, meander through the day without coming here - which I call homebase, but I eventually do return, and find that gentle admonition "you seem to be having some trouble with motivation." If I start here each day, or land here about breakfast time, I'm set. If I put it off - well, the wanders start and it may be a few days before I get back to homebase.

I just read Indygirl's story. Wow. There is so much inspiration and hope here. It's a good way to start the day. Yes, it's 5:14 AM just now, in the Phoenix desert where it's cold this morning. Near freezing but will become a bright and beautiful day in just a few hours.

I'll plant tomato seeds today in pots, put the Bok Choy and arugula directly into the garden, see if I can find some broccoli starts. I picked a 3 lb cabbage yesterday. I am waiting for the bare root roses I ordered to arrive. Climbers this time.

I can hear a rooster crowing - just a little premature.

This is what is happening here, today.

Good day to all of you.

Thanks for being here.
