June 1- 30, 2013 - Challenge

June 1 -30 Challenge

My initial journey to lose weight started October 15, 2012 and I had a number in mind. I wanted to lose 50 stubborn lbs. that I had gained over the last five years since I joined Corporate America and neglected to make time for ME.

I had dropped 8 lbs. by December 13, 2012 at that time my sister came over to visit me for one month. I continued to watch what I eat and kept my portion control in check, but the number days I exercise kept diminishing until I was not exercising at all. There are days I would get guilty and then start back up for two or three consecutive days and then the motivation will be lost. Oh so the story continues. (then I regained 5 of those lbs.)

I am a chronic migraine sufferer and in the interim of me not exercising and neglecting to make time for me, my migraines were really bad. I will have over 20 days of migraine in a month and I was very unhappy. I was unhappy with my weight and most of all; unhappy with the way that I was feeling. Now I had more on my plate that I can handle, figuratively.

I said to myself, I need to take another approach, this time I am going to embark on a journey to feel better and rid myself of this migraine. I have always been told that juicing will eliminate/rid migraine, so I was willing to try that. However, will power and mindset was the two main ingredients I needed.

I started out with the Dr. OZ three day detox/cleanse. I did it the first three days of the month in February, March and then again May. However, three days wasn't enough for me to see any significant decrease in migraine. I must admit that I felt so much better, but I quickly realized that I had to do it for longer period of time in order to experience results. So on my three day cleanse in May I extended it for 9 days and I had great results. I had no migraine for the entire nine days (only headache one of those days). I was able to do some deep breathing and the headache subsided.

Fast forward to June 1, 2013, this is where I started my one month challenge of going on smoothie and exercise challenge for thirty days.

I have been doing smoothies for all meals and eating a healthy snack of raw food. I am also doing Insanity (by beach body) and training for my first 5K race using Couch to 5K from a UK podcast.

Please see the links below that shows what I am doing. Please feel free to follow me on the journey on my blog.

That is an impressive challenge. My husband and I bought a juicer and a smoothie maker and alternate between the two. Good luck on your June journey.
