Life and the holidays sort of derailed my actual starting date for Round 2. I completed Round 1 in November. My original plan was to take a month off and the start again in December. But we had a LOT of unforeseen things (and stress) taking place around here, and it was just too much to try and fit in the rigors of P90X along with that. I've learned that sometimes you do need to cut yourself a break. No, this is NOT to be used as an excuse! But there are certain events that take place in one's life that just take priority.
So where am I at right now?
Well I've lost a bit of weight since Round 1, and for those who know me, that is NOT my goal. I am trying to gain weight. And I know that I probably lost a bit of muscle there too since I've not had a structured workout in 2 months. Most of that was because I have not been eating enough calories. That is always an issue with me. But given the result I got the first time, I'm sure that will all correct itself again as I start this next round.
My workouts are a bit different this time. I'm doing a hybrid of P90X Classic/P90X Doubles/ P90X Plus/One-On-One. Yes, I know I'm a lunatic! My workouts are twice a day like in Doubles. However, Doubles puts less emphasis on strength training which is not what I want, so I'm doing the Classic P90X, but just adding cardio in the A.M. Granted this means I now have to eat more (ugh!), but we'll see how that goes. And I'm alternating between the regular P90X workouts and those with Plus, and One-On-One. It's enough of a variety to really challenge me and keep me from getting bored.
So off I go... time to Bring it!

As of today I am officially a P90X Graduate!!!! Wow. I can't believe it.
I am traveling right now so I can't post my measurements or photos yet. But I'll be home on Wednesday so I'll do it then. I did bring my DVD's with me so I could complete my workouts while away.
It feels SO good to call myself a graduate! I'll post in a few days with my final thoughts and info when I get back.

I'm really close to the end now. Though it's been a rough few days with the passing of my friend. I skipped Thursday's workout because I was just too upset (see previous blog).
Friday, Day 82, Legs & Back - My last leg workout. :-( Made the most of it though and smoked everything.
Saturday, Day 83, Kenpo X - I find it pretty funny now that I can pretty much recite word for word what Tony says. LOL!
Sunday, Day 84, Rest - Today was our friend's funeral. There were a LOT of people there. It's a true testament to what a wonderful person she was. :-)
Monday, Day 85, Yoga X - OMG... my LAST recovery week! Wow.
Tuesday, Day 86, OOPS! - OK this was supposed to be Core day, but I was cray running around trying to get stuff done before my trip this weekend (I'm flying to NJ for 5 days to attend my cousin's wedding and to visit with family). Then one of my clients called with an urgent computer issue that i had to go take care of. It took me 4 hours to fix it! Why do people who have no idea what they are doing insist on touching things they shouldn't? LOL! Needless to say, by the time I got home it was after 7:00 and I was mentally drained.
Wednesday, Day 87, Core AND Cardio X - I doubled up today to make up for my missed workout from yesterday. I love Core! And wow have I progressed! In the beginning I could not do the Stacked foot/Staggered Hand Push Ups. Even on my knees I only got to about 10. Well today I did 40 on my toes! Woohoo!!! I opted to do Cardio X as my second workout instead of Kenpo X, only because it's a workout I've only done once. I just wanted to do it again before my 90 days were over.
I've only got a few workouts left now. In fact, I'll be out of town for my last two workouts so I'm bringing my DVD 's with me so I can finish. I won't be able to take my 90 pics until I get back home on Tuesday, so I'll post those then.

So I had every intention of doing Yoga X today. That is until I got some sad news about a close family friend.
Her name is Sandy, and she's been "adopted" so to speak, by our family. She is actually my mom's boss at work. She's 76 years old. Full of life, always doing for others, and always happy. She's sort of become my surrogate grandmother.
Several months ago we found out she had cancer and it was spreading quickly. She had already beaten cancer twice before, but she was also 20 years younger then. We had a scare about two months ago and she had to go to the hospital. But she bounced back and was sent home about 2 weeks later.
Then a couple of days ago she started to not feel so great. She was admitted yesterday with Pneumonia in her lungs. Her body is just too weak to fight it off this time and she has gone down hill since then. She was on a respirator, but they took her off it a couple of hours ago. She is still breathing on her own at the moment, but it is very labored. She's probably "waiting" for her other son to arrive (he's flying in from out of town and should be here in about an hour). All they can do at this point is try to make her comfortable.
It's really sad. She has been so good to our family. I'm going to miss her terribly.
So I'm sorry Tony Horton, but I just do not have it in me to bring it today. I can't focus on my workout right now. I'll just have to double up tomorrow.

Week 12 has arrived. I can't believe I'm so close to the end now.
Tuesday, Day 79, One on One - I'm loving this series.
I cut myself a break on food today. It was my mom's birthday and her favorite place to eat is Benihana. We go there every year on her birthday. While the food is not terribly bad for you, it does have more fat than I normally eat due to the oil. But I've been on track since April and really have not deviated since then. So I decided to splurge on this one occasion.
Wednesday, Day 80, Back & Biceps - I took the advice of many of my friends and opted not to use the pull up bar today. My elbow is still not feeling right. I did however use the bands and had no pain. I increased my reps a bit on the bicep moves. I'm now looking for a way to increase my weights in micro increments. Jumping another 5 lbs is too much for me. So I searched online and found these nifty little things called PlateMates. They attach to your hex dumbbells so you can increase the weight by small amounts. I also found something called Fractional Plates that slide on to standard dumbbells. Both of them look like nice options to increase my weights just a bit until I can get to the next size up.
Now for some really cool news. One of my goals when I started P90X was to be able to do 10 push ups on my toes. I have never been able to do push ups. Even the ones on my knees. Since I started the program, I have gotten stronger and have been able to go from my knees to my toes. Last week I managed to do 15 on my toes. Now granted, they aren't as pretty as Tony's. And sometimes they aren't as deep, but they are push ups on my toes none the less.
So today, one of my coaches threw out a challenge (they do this all the time, lol). It was to do as many push ups as possible to failure. I knew I could handle at least 15 so I took the challenge. But when I got to 15, I felt like I could do a couple more. In fact, I actually got to 30! 30 push ups!!! Woohoo!!! I couldn't believe it! After I hit that I was pretty tired, so I went to my knees and did another 15. I was SO happy!
I've already smashed the goal that I set for myself in the beginning. So now I can't wait to see what will happen when I get going on Round 2. :-)
