GOODNESS REQUIRES HONESTY
Ever met someone who could not tell the truth? Either they were always joking. Or they were always stretching the truth. Or they were always just plain out lying. There are people who just can’t be honest. They may not believe the truth about themselves is exciting enough. They may be ashamed of something they did. They may just want attention. Whatever the reason, if we want to do good, we have to be honest. When we are honest with ourselves, others and God, then He will allow us to do good to others.
Luke 16:10 “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.” (NLT)
Dear Lord, help us to be honest people. Help us to desire to tell the truth in all we do no matter what. We know that honesty is the best policy. We know that You command us to be honest. We know that all things work well when we are honest to You, to others and to ourselves. Show us the right way today to tell the truth so we can do the good You requires us to do for others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
When we are honest, we don’t have to try and remember to keep our lies straight.
Honesty is the best way to make and keep friends.
Honesty is the one thing that will win friends and influence others.
We should not only be honest to those around us but we need to be honest to ourselves and to God, who always knows the truth.
We should never think we are better than anyone else and we should always be honest about who we are.
Romans 12:3 “Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.” (NLT).

HIDING BEHIND A VEIL
We have all met people who are living a lie. They say things that just don’t match up with what they do. Some people wear a veil hoping that no one will really know how they are living. They are hiding their secret lives from others but cannot hide from God. In all we do, we need to be sure we aren’t attempting to hide our sins from God or others. When we aren’t living as we should, hiding behind a veil isn’t going to make things right. When we remove that veil, God can change us to do good.
2 Corinthians 3:18 “So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.” (NLT)
Dear Lord, You tell us to become changed to live in Your glorious image. We can’t do that when we are hiding. We have to let the truth come out so we can remove the veil that keeps us from doing the right things for You. Help us to stop hiding in our secret sins and forgive us for what we have done wrong in the past. Help us to remove our veil and begin doing good and living for You today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
When others hide behind a veil hoping no one will see how they really are, they aren’t hiding from God.
The problem with veils is that people can see through them so why do others try so hard to hide behind a veil of lies, deceit and jealousy?
When we see others hiding behind veils thinking they are fooling everyone, we are to pray asking God how we can help them remove those veils and live for Him.
Veils attempt to hide things which keep us from living for God. We should go to God today to help us remove our veils so we can live for Him.
Whenever we decide to stop doing what is wrong in God’s eyes and turn to Him to do good, our veils which hide our secret sins will be removed.
2 Corinthians 3:16 “But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.” (NLT)

We all know good people. They do the right things. They are always willing to help. They take time out of their days to be kind, to give and to show love to others. There are those who do good because it comes naturally to them. And there are those who do good because they trust in God and know it is the right thing to do. Either way, when we choose to do good, we are being obedient to God and He will take care of us.
Psalm 37:3 “Trust in the LORD and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.” (NLT)
Dear Lord, we put our trust in You today. Help us to see where we can do good for others. Help us see where we can do good for You. We want to be obedient to You and do the right things. Reveal to us what we need to do to help, be kind and love others so we are trusting in You and doing good as You have commanded us to do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
When we choose to do good, we are doing as God commanded us to do.
Doing good isn’t about doing what we have to do – it is about doing what we want to do because we trust in God.
Helping others and doing the right thing doesn’t always come naturally. That is why we need God in our lives – to help us do good.
When we trust in the Lord, doing good will be what we want to do.
God will show us what good to do when we go to Him and ask Him to reveal His wisdom to us.
James 3:17 “But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.” (NLT)

BECAUSE HE CARES
When we do wrong, God isn’t standing by waiting to attack us because we messed up. God wants us to do right but He also knows that we are going to make mistakes. When we make choices to do wrong and we do it on purpose, God still wants us to turn back to Him and live right. When we make mistakes because we just mess up, God is ready to take us back and care for us. Because He cares He is always ready to forgive us when we do wrong. He would much rather forgive us than judge us.
Isaiah 33:22 “For the LORD is our judge, our lawgiver, and our king. He will care for us and save us.” (NLT)
Dear Lord, help us to see where we are doing wrong. Help us to know we can turn back to You, ask for forgiveness and begin doing right again. We know You care and You love us and we are so grateful. We know You are our Judge, our Lawgiver and our King. Thank You for all You are and all You do for us, in love, because You care. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Because God cares, He will forgive us of our sins.
Because God cares, He is waiting on us to turn to Him.
Because God cares, He will help us turn from sin.
Because God cares, He will save us from eternal damnation.
Because God cares, He has created a place of rest for those who choose to believe and obey Him.
Hebrews 4:1 “God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it.” (NLT)
