When we are not aware of our surroundings, things can quickly happen that could lead to danger. We could be in a parking area and someone approach us who wants to harm us. We could be driving and look down for one second which could cause a wreck. We could be hanging out with people who are leading us down the wrong path in life. We need to be on the lookout for things that could be dangerous to us and others. We should be focusing on God and living by the Spirit so He can help us be more aware of our surroundings. And be on the lookout in every area of our lives.
Galatians 5:25 ďSince we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spiritís leading in every part of our lives.Ē (NLT)
Dear Lord, we come to You to help us today. We want to be more aware of our wrongdoing and the wrongdoing of others. Help us to lookout for wrongdoing so we can stop it and if we canít stop it, we can at least stay away from it. Keep us mindful of what is right and resist all that is wrong. Help us to live by the Spirit today in every part of our lives. Thank You, Jesus. In Jesusí name. Amen.
When we decide to live by the Spirit, God will help us determine right from wrong.
We should be living as God wants us to live in every part of our lives Ė not just one or two areas.
God wants us to give ourselves completely to Him today so He can guide us to be good, love others and help others.
If we see we are doing things that are not right, it is possible to turn away from them when we decide to turn to God.
If we want to be on a firm foundation and be more aware of what could lead us astray, then we need to get deeper into Godís word.
Psalm 143:10 ďTeach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing.Ē (NLT)
Focus: Be open, be ready, be teachable today so we can identify Godís will and lookout for any wrongdoing.

LACK OF SLEEP
Ever not got enough rest? Either from a sick child, or staying up late or just not sleeping well? Lack of sleep affects our focus. When we donít allow our body to completely rest, we will feel it during the day. When we get little sleep, we arenít able to think as clearly as we could. When we lack sleep, we arenít able to focus. Our bodies begin to tell us to rest. There are many things we can do to sleep better. Just google it. However, God gives us a perfect rest when we turn our lives over to Him. His rest is like no other. His rest will help us focus on what is good, what is right and what is His perfect will for us.
Ecclesiastes 5:3 ďToo much activity gives you restless dreams; too many words make you a fool.Ē (NLT)
Dear Lord, help us to learn to rest. Help us to get the rest we need each night so we are refreshed and ready for a new day. We know we canít cram too much into a day. That just leaves us flustered and bothered and distracted from doing Your will. Help us to do what is important to only You today and take time to rest during the day and get our rest tonight we need for another day serving You. In Jesusí name. Amen.
When we donít get the sleep we need, our bodies will slow us down. That is Godís reminder to get some rest.
Taking time to get the rest we need at night will give us the strength we need during the day to do Godís will.
Part of Godís plan for us is to work; however, part of Godís plan for us is to rest as well.
When we are too busy to rest, we are going to eventually get tired and aggravated.
God will give us rest when we lie down at night and put our focus on Him.
Psalm 4:8 ďIn peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe.Ē (NLT)
Focus: Decide to finish up the day in time to get a good nightís rest for tomorrow.

FOCUS ON GOD
We donít lose focus because things or people distract us. It is because we allow them to. We donít lose focus on God because we are too busy or have too much on our minds. We lose focus because we are putting our focus on something else that is not God. When we focus on God despite what is going on around us, we will have peace. When we focus on God, He will give us the courage and strength to carry out His will no matter what else is going on. When we focus on God, He will give us the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.
Philippians 2:13 ďFor God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.Ē (NLT)
Dear Lord, help us today to put our focus on You. Help us today to direct our attention to You when other things or people want to distract us. When we get sidetracked with life. When we get bombarded with troubles. When our thinking begins to move to the things of the world and what trials we are having. Help us to focus completely on You and have the strength and courage to do Your will and not our own. In Jesusí name. Amen.
God will give us the focus we need to put on Him rather than the things of the world.
We can take our focus off of our worries and problems and put our focus on God when we give ourselves completely to Him.
God is all we need and all we need to focus on.
When we put our focus on God rather than the troubles in the world, He will give us peace and the desire to do what honors and pleases Him.
There is only one focus we need to have today. And that focus is God.
Philippians 3:13b ďbut I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,Ē (NLT)
Focus today: Every time your mind wanders to worry, to do wrong, to think bad thoughts, re-focus your mind on God. Give Him your heart, mind and soul today.

In order to truly focus on anything, we have to have deep roots. Deep roots are those that are so far down into something that they canít be pulled up. It would take a lot to pull up those roots and keep them from continuing to grow. Think about weeds. When we pull them up, after about a week, they begin to sprout again. The roots are deep. We have some bad roots that are deep that can only be removed by God. He can remove our bad, deep roots and replace them with new ones that are good.
Matthew 13:21 ďBut since they donít have deep roots, they donít last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing Godís word.Ē (NLT)
Dear Lord, remove our deep roots that keep us from doing Your will. Remove those deep roots that lead us to do wrong. Help us to remember to stay in Your word daily so our roots will become deeper and deeper in Your word and will keep us doing good rather than evil. Help us to grow in Your word so we will not fall away as soon as we have problems or are questioned about our love and faith in You. In Jesusí name. Amen.
To grow deep roots, we can study Godís word, pray and follow His direction.
To grow deep roots, we can fellowship with other believers and share what God has done for us.
To grow deep roots, we can spend time with God every day and be still knowing He is God.
To grow deep roots, we can listen to godly teachers who God gives insight to and instruction.
If are roots for God are deep, we will be able to withstand anything.
Hosea 14:5 ďI will be to Israel like a refreshing dew from heaven. Israel will blossom like the lily; it will send roots deep into the soil like the cedars in Lebanon.Ē (NLT)
Focus today: Decide today to allow God to strengthen your roots so they will be deep enough to withstand anything.

FOCUS ON FAITH
From our faith in God, we will grow. From our trials, we will flourish. From our struggles, we will learn. From bad, God can create good. When we focus on our faith in God and how we know without a doubt that He will get us through all situations, we will become stronger and have great stories to tell that will honor and glorify His name. So in the midst of whatever we are going through now, we should stay focused on God, keep the faith and look for His blessings to share with others.
James 1:3 ďFor you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.Ē (NLT)
Dear Lord, we are so grateful You teach us so much when we are going through hard times. We know we have times where we feel we canít go on, but when we put our focus on You, when we put our faith in You, when we give our troubles to You, You always come through. It is possible. It happens all the time. We know You want us to stay focused on You so we can experience Your will and tell others about You. Help us today, to do what will strengthen our faith so we can remain focused on You in all things. In Jesusí name. Amen.
When we are faithful to God in our jobs and focus on Him, despite what struggles we have with our coworkers, He will help us through.
When we are faithful to God in our finances and focus on Him, despite what struggles we have paying bills, He will help us through.
When we are faithful to God in our health issues and focus on Him, despite what struggles we have doing the right things for our bodies, He will help us through.
When we are faithful to God in our relationships and focus on Him, despite what struggles we have with others, He will help us through.
When we are faithful to God in our lives and focus on Him, despite what struggles we have, He will help us through.
Focus today: List what areas we need to be stronger in and ask God to help us be faithful to Him in these areas.
