October 22, 2014 BE BLESSED

There is a saying about what we donít know and how it wonít hurt us. Well what about what we do know? What things in our lives do we know about yet we still donít do them? If we know something and we donít do it, there could be disaster. Not doing what we know God wants us to do will lead to misery. However, being devoted to God and doing the things He has called us to do will make blessings in our lives that we can share with others.

John 13:17 ďNow that you know these things, God will bless you for doing them.Ē (NLT)

Dear Lord, we are so grateful for Your word. We are grateful for Your direction and Your teachings. Help us to be devoted to You in our actions today. Help us to take what we have learned and take action for You. Help us to take what we have learned and share it with others. We thank You for the blessings You give us when we are obedient to You. Show us ways to share our blessings with others today. In Jesusí name. Amen.

There are blessings in store for those who are obedient to God.

The blessings we receive because we obey God should be shared with others.

Knowing what to do and not doing it is just wrong.

Satan wants us to ignore, procrastinate and forget about what we are supposed to be doing for God. Letís not let Satan win.

When we donít do what we know we are supposed to do, we are sinning.

James 4:17 ďRemember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.Ē (NLT)

Focus: Going the extra mile today to obey God will pay off with multiple blessings that can be shared with others.

October 21, 2014 LISTEN

When we are devoted to God, we will want to listen to Him. We will want to obey Him. We will want to be wise as He calls us to be. When we are devoted to God, we will be wise and spend Him with Him daily. We will pray daily. We will read His word daily. When we are devoted to God, we wonít have to be told to do these things. We will have a strong desire to listen, to learn and to follow.

Matthew 7:24 ďAnyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.Ē (NLT)

Dear Lord, we come to You today to show You our devotion to You. We need You. We need Your word. We need Your teaching. We need Your direction. We know if we follow You, we will be wise as the person who builds a house on solid rock. Give us direction today and allow the Holy Spirit to work through us to give us the strength and desire to obey You. In Jesusí name. Amen.

When we really listen to God, we will want to obey.

God calls us to hear His word and to also put it into action.

When we are devoted to God, we wonít have to be reminded to listen and obey Him.

Just as those who listen and obey are wise, those who listen and donít obey are fools.

How many of us hear Godís word with our ears but we donít really listen? Or we know what is right but we donít do it?

Isaiah 42:20 ďYou see and recognize what is right but refuse to act on it. You hear with your ears, but you donít really listen.Ē (NLT)

Focus: Listen to Godís word today, pray about it and ask God how you can put it into action so you can best learn from it.

October 20, 2014 PROTECTION

If we were open up and share with each other our deepest burdens or secrets, we would better understand each other. Sharing with one another helps us grow stronger together and allows us to pray for one another. Many times we donít want to share with others what troubles we face every day because we donít want to appear weak. So we keep it in and continue to struggle. However, we can open up and share with God every day. He will guide us and protect us. He will comfort us and give us rest. When we are devoted to God and share everything with Him, He will protect us.

Psalm 86:2 ďProtect me, for I am devoted to you. Save me, for I serve you and trust you. You are my God.Ē (NLT)

Dear Lord, help us to share with one another today. Help us to let them know how they can pray for us. Help us to let them know what problems we are having in our lives. When we open up to godly people, they will pray for us. When they pray, You will open up opportunities to help and protect us. When You open up opportunities, we will find protection and can share of Your goodness and mercy with others. We want to devote ourselves to You, Lord, and build relationships that with glorify You and make disciples of all we meet. In Jesusí name. Amen.

As we share our sufferings with others, they will share with us. Then we can both share in the comfort from God.

When we are devoted to God and share everything with Him, He will protect us.

When we open up to godly people, they will pray for us.

When we are devoted to God and share everything with Him, He will give us protection and comfort.

We can share with others in our sufferings and in the comfort God can give us.

2 Corinthians 1:7 ďWe are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the comfort God gives us.Ē (NLT)

Focus: Being devoted to God means we share with others about our shortcomings as well as how God protects and loves us.

October 19, 2014 WHAT BELIEVERS DO

When the first churches emerged and the first believers got together, they did what God called them to do. They did it because they wanted to do it. They did it because of the love and devotion they had for God. They didnít stay home because they felt bad. They didnít choose to lay in bed all day. No, there werenít the distractions of television or computers back then but there were just as many temptations. Yet, they chose to worship together every day. Every day. That is what believers do. Do you worship every day?

Acts 2:44-47 ďAnd all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lordís Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.Ē (NLT)

Dear Lord, we come to You today asking You to reveal in our lives what we need to give up. We know we donít spend enough time with You. We know we donít worship You enough. We know we arenít as devoted to You as we should be. Empty us today of all wrong, and fill us with what is right and good. Give us the desire to share what we have, meet together and praise You. And, Lord, show us opportunities today to make disciples as You have called us to do. In Jesusí name. Amen.

Believers want to read Godís word and talk to Him every day.

Believers want to sell what they have and give to the poor.

Believers want to meet together and worship God.

Believers want to share their meals and fellowship with one another.

God calls all of His believers to go and make disciples. If you donít know how, ask Him.

Matthew 28:19 ďTherefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.Ē (NLT)

Focus: If we truly believe in God, we will want to know Him and obey Him.

October 18, 2014 DEVOTED TO BEING AN EXAMPLE

When we are devoted to live like Jesus did, we will be an example for others to follow. Being devoted to learning about His life and what He did will help us to be a better example to others. If we want to be devoted to Christ and follow Him, we need to study His life. We need to know how He reacted to situations while He was on earth. We need to look for godly examples in others as well so we will know the right things to do.

John 13:15 ďI have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.Ē (NLT)

Thank You, Lord, for the example You have given us to follow. We want to do more than just read Your word. We want to follow You and obey. We want to mimic the things You did on earth to resist temptation, to obey God and to make disciples. Show us godly examples in others as well so we will become more aware of how to be a godly example and to be completely devoted to You. In Jesusí name. Amen.

When we read Godís word, we are to take action from what it says so we can be a godly example to others.

Being a devoted godly example while on earth requires we read Godís word and obey Him.

If we donít know what to do to put Godís word into action, we need to seek the advice of other godly people.

One way to know how to put Godís word into action is to pray.

After reading Godís word, we need to apply it to our lives. That requires being devoted to Him and seeking His direction.

Titus 2:7 ďAnd you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching.Ē (NLT)

Focus: We can be a godly example to others by focusing on being devoted to doing Godís will.

By reading the scriptures and following in Jesus' footsteps every day we lead by example. We must put this into a daily practice and walk the talk and live the talk as well. Thank you for sharing.
