My Favorite Time Of The Year

Saturday, November 02, 2013

I love this season and I am well. I also miss communicating with my Sparkpeople friends. It has been to long since I have done a blog entry. I have a new position at work, where I found myself doing both my old job and the new one combined. Once again, I knew that I had to exercise during the day to counter the stress. I started getting up very early to prepare a healthy lunch and snacks for the day. The best thing that I added to my day is my morning self empowering time where I exercise for 30 minutes and give myself what ever self care that I need. Later in the day, I go to the park for lunch and do a 20 to 30 minute power walk. This season is the best time for walks in the park. Exercising before work and during lunch, has really helped me to be more focused and to release stress. It certainly is better than trying to eat my stress away. I also make sure that I take a short snack break in the morning, since I am usually the last one to go to lunch in my department. When I hear that there are treats in the break room, I avoid that area at all cost. Out of sight and off of my thighs works for me. In my last position, I was on the road a lot, working at many different facilities. I now work at one location and can better schedule my life. My focus is to make time to connect with my Sparkfriends again. I really appreciate my Sparkfriends and all the encouragement that I receive. I am grateful for my life, health, family, great friends and this wonderful season. Thank you Sparkpeople and Sparkfriends!

Exercising Again

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

I am so excited to be exercising again! This was a difficult summer for me health wise. I did the best that I could, however I had to take it easy on my body. I had to walk, instead of the aerobic dance program that I was doing. My body took a long time to heal because of my crazy life, school and work schedule. Having just started a new job with long hours and being on the road during the hot southern Summer days; my health took a beating. I was fortunate to get a job in a new field. Most of the staff members are much younger than me. I did not feel comfortable saying no to assignments and I did not get the best assignments. I ate lots of small clean meals and fueled my body in a healthy fashion. I got a lot of rest when I could and most of all I practiced a lot of self care and prayer. After doing my part, I had to let go and let God and my body do their part. Since I am now working in the health care industry, I see a lot of sick people every time I go to work. Health is our greatest fortune. I am more determined then ever to continue exercising and eating healthy to help my body be in a balanced state. I am also making more realistic decisions instead of trying to do everything at an accelerated pace. My focus is to have it all, even though it might not be all at once.

I Am Well!

Saturday, July 13, 2013

It is wonderful to be in good health. I have been working out of town a lot and feeling under the weather. The long hot days on the road are very challenging when the body needs to heal. I did the best that I could to plan and organize every aspect of my day (that which was in my power to control). The problem is that when you work with the public, so much of the day is not within a persons' ability to control. I had to depersonalize so much. Hot and humid Summer days can bring out the worst in people. I see so many unhealthy people everyday. It is a constant reminder for me to be grateful for my health and to have compassion for others. I had to practice a lot of self directed compassion, patience and self care, as I was healing. I am now feeling much better and I can say that I am well. Most of all I am grateful for my life, my health and my wonderful family (some of which are my family of choice).

A Fun Day With My Teenagers

Sunday, June 23, 2013

My son wanted to spend his birthday at an amusement park. We took the long drive to this very unique (old fashion) park. We had so much fun. I got on every ride with them. I was more aggressive on the bumper cars then they were. We played a full round of mini-golf and they were amazed at my game. We spend the day walking around in the hot sun and enjoying each other. I am grateful for my health and my ability to keep up with them. My health and my desire to have a great quality of life is why I joined Sparkpeople. I love all the wonderful tools that Sparkpeople offers. Most of all I enjoy all the wonderful people that I get to connect with from the comfort of my home. I would not have the gift of this sincere supportive community without Sparkpeople. I am grateful for all the inspiration and support of the wonderful Sparkpeople members. Thank you, Sparkpeople!

Self Care

Thursday, June 13, 2013

I worked well over twelve hours today. Once a week, I have to service multiple work sites in one day. I cover several towns in a compact company car. I have to stay calm, be effective and provide excellent customer care. I do have a long break in middle of the day, so I decided to take a long walk after lunch. The walk would prove to be a life saver. Additional work sites were added to my list of stops. Each one being some what time sensitive. My walk was an act of self care, which did help me to think clearly and stay calm. I also ate small meals through out the day and made sure to stay hydrated. The exercise helped me manage stress, be positive and to be a proper representative for me company. One of my most important goals is to give myself as much self care as I can, when ever I can.

It is so hard to remember in this age of Superwoman (I am not one) to stop and take care of yourself. You know like the spiel they give on airlines to put the oxygen mask on yourself and then help your child. Keep up the good work. emoticon
