I lost the fluff! Before and After Photos

Wednesday, February 12, 2014

Before-

After -

Those pillows were were my excuse for not exercising. Hand me downs from my mom that I probably don't even need. One was tossed , the other two not quite put away (new shelves to be built when the rain stops) but not on my treadmill anymore.

I started two classes in January in addition to full time work so this whole exercise eating well and suffered BUT this aspect of my life is getting some love again. It is just hard to manage it all.

Now, off to use the treadmill before work.

Three Pieces of Pizza And an Early Sleep

Thursday, January 16, 2014

Yup, that is enough of a celebration for me and they were small pieces too. If I go to bed early I can get some exercise in before having to work. This is a much better way to indulge than buying even a half bottle of wine. Plus, I was great about packing my lunch all week, not stopping for coffee etc. so saved a bit there. I did buy two cookies today and yesterday though but not pricey ones. I want to stop that. No more cookies from the deli.

I have had sugar cravings since I stopped drinking wine after my friend left and I guess I shouldn't be too surprised as it happened to me last spring when I decided to stop drinking wine at night. Well, last summer I was able to stay sugar free for 100 days and that shows me I can do it again. Tomorrow would be a good day to start again.

I can! I will! Tomorrow is another day!!!

Sure glad I won't feel like there is fog in my head tomorrow. Yippee!!,

How about some natural sugar like a sweet potato or a bowl of carrot soup or a tangerine or even a tiny piece of dark chocolate until the cravings subside?

Yeah, your sugar cravings are probably stemming from going AF. Now that you have that under-your-belt, you should be able to tackle that sugar. Like you said, you've done it before! I was so impressed by that & I have no doubt you can do it again, if you so desire. emoticon emoticon

Cooking Weekend = Saving Money plus healthier eating....one hopes

Saturday, January 11, 2014

Big shopping day at Costco, well, big because of the dog food and bulk toilet paper. Did anyone notice that packing on toilet paper only says "bathroom tissue?" I think everyone still calls it toilet paper still? No?

Anyway, this time I planned a few meals and went in with a list and have vowed to pack lunches to take to work and save money. Actually, I did that all last week too and vow to carry on the same. Will make a big difference in my food expenditure.

Also planned for the weekend, dehydrating sweet potatoes for doggie treats. A bag of fresh sweet potatoes was $7.99 and hydrated chicken jerky was $19.99 so I'm hoping I'll have a similar volume of treats once the water evaporates out.

Yup, this is the year to get my finances in order. One step at a time.

When I was in College I spent 8 weeks in England student teaching. I always said, "where is the bathroom?" The English people would said, "why? Do you you want to take a bath?" They would refer to it as the toilet or the loo, I could never get used to it!

I think "bathroom" sounds more sophisticated than "toilet" but let's face it: the same job(s) actually happen emoticon

Sounds like you have been struggling with your finances for a while. I know I've been struggling with being AF. I guess we all have our "weak spots". There's always something in each of our lives that is more challenging to us. Keeps life interesting.

You can do this Lisa!

I guess I'm unlikely to die just yet

Friday, January 10, 2014

The doc says I most likely have heartburn. Probably too much coffee probably isn't helping. I did start drinking more when I started working more in the office so, lifestyle changes are in order I guess. Apart from coffee that have been happening.

I won't be having much of a garden this year unless is rains heavily soon. Water emergency is the talk in California. So, the hay bale garden I had for fall and winter will be broken apart and used to mulch the standard garden beds. My front yard will not have grass either nor any other type of grass substitute. Oh well..... I was going to plan an extravagant veggie garden this year but who knows how high the water surcharges will be?

I'm happy to have better health insurance again. That has been such a worry.

I'm sorry you're having to deal with heartburn...but so glad you've got better health insurance once again! I've had heartburn in the past, and the good news is, that by following my doc's advice, I completely got rid of it. I hope you will, too. I'll be hoping CA will get lots and lots of that badly needed rain!

I guess you'll just have to wait & see, as far as your gardening goes. Glad your health problems weren't as bad as they could have been, although heartburn/gerd is certainly uncomfortable to deal with . . . sorry. emoticon

I'm so glad you aren't in Canada because the only garden you can think of this time of year is an indoor one, and they don't fair too well emoticon
Glad to hear that it's "only" heartburn... at least there are remedies for that.
I don't know much about the American health system expect for that you need to be rich to get medical attention. I'm glad you have better health insurance. It sounds like our health system is much better in Canada but we certainly pay through the nose for it!

A year of making do ahead

Monday, January 06, 2014

Bulbs are planted! Grass is a dirt patch and unfortunately will probably be staying that way as I suspect this will be a water rationing year and my front yard is full of shade.

The whole yard needs landscaping but it probably won't happen this year either. It doesn't mean I can have annual flowers around to brighten up the place. Making do with what I have. I am looking forward to having some fresh flowers in the house come spring......small pleasures.
