1 Calorie Left....

Thursday, May 23, 2013

That's it, one calorie left to stay within range today. I'm way over on fibre. I am going to get the heck out of here so that there is no risk. Garden, here I come, get movin' Sweet Peas, regular peas, pumpkin seeds (planting, not eating!)

I always get a giggle out of it when I end up either dead-on the number or just one off --- it's a bit of a morale boost that I've learned enough about what to eat and how much to have the numbers end up there.

Hope you had a great evening in the garden! (I'm envious - between the bunnies and the deer, I haven't got a hope of having a garden here.)

Success - my first 10 km Race ever!

Monday, April 22, 2013

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
I did it! I went at my own slow & steady pace. I ran the whole thing (no walking.) 1 hour, 36 minutes. I really didn't know I had it in me. I still can't believe it.
Thank you Sparkpeople & Sparkcommunity; I couldn't have done it without you.

A huge congratulations to you on such a spectacular accomplishment. Isn't it amazing what the Spark Community can spur us into? I just completed my first 5 km run ever and couldn't believe I did it. It was the furtherest thing from my wildest dreams ever in my whole entire life. But here at Spark it happens. Once again, emoticon on such a commendable achievement.

13 Weeks of Training for 10 km Done.

Friday, April 19, 2013

Tonight, we did our very last training session, of a 13 week program, for the 10 k race on Sunday. I am in shock. I would never in a million years have thought I could do this. Maybe I AM coaxing some of those old habits & beliefs down the stairs & out the door. I keep looking at my race bib & timing chip, that are sitting by the door, in disbelief. It's got my name printed right into it.
MY NAME! Really, it does. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

How do you talk to yourself?

Monday, March 25, 2013

Spark Coach topic for me today was negative self talk. I know I have trouble with this. I have worked on improving it before. You know, the "what would you say to a very good friend in this situation?"
One aspect I haven't thought about previously was how to handle tough situations like when alone & tired in the evening. Would I say, "it's okay, you're just too tired," or would I say, "Let's make the tough choice to comfort you another way. You can do it, I'll help you through the discomfort & we will come out better for it in the end."
What are my best interests & who is looking out for them if not me? Wait, let's change that one. I can guide myself to make optimal & enjoyable choices for me. I am learning along the way, just as every other human being is. Three cheers for trying. Three cheers for working on it.

I get a food image in my brain and it calls to me. How do I stop that kind of self talk? Chris emoticon

It's really amazing how one little word can change the way our self talk affects us, I totally agree with SPSPSP1.

The more your self talk is positive you'll find you don't slip into the negative self talk as much. I remind myself I'm worth more and that helps me see myself as valued and gets me to explore all my options in the situation.

You said, "Let's make the TOUGH choice". I recommend taking out the word "tough". Otherwise, you will always think of it that way as opposed to not thinking about it all like brushing your teeth or taking a shower. Also, I'd say something like I am capable of making great choices for myself. I wish you the best!
