Nature -- Miraculous as always. Dolphins and Orcas

Sunday, March 16, 2014

Of late, there is a discussion in our community about a company wanting to build an LNG plant (liquified natural gas). they want to ship this commodity to china.

we have had mining and pulp mills, etc in this area for many years. the area became a dead zone. it has been several years now since closure of the last plant and the remedial work done to make these areas safe again. it has only been recent that fishing has opened again. and now in the midst of new attempts to put in polluting industry we get to see this beautiful sight. whales and dolphins returning here following the herring run. i went and watched for the afternoon. what a gorgeous and energizing sight. these are not my pictures, but, they are taken today.

Watching the show

how can mankind continue to put profit before life?

please write to your congressman,. tell him what you told us about the unsafe area, and that their are whale. You need to take some kind of action. Materialism is destroying our world. I bet if you did research you would find out something about that kind of plant hurting people somewhere too! Please. eva

The answer to your question --- pure selfish GREED for the almighty dollar!

I sure hope the folks in the area fight & succeed at not allowing the LNG plant coming in.

Thank you for sharing the photos --- I so enjoyed viewing them.

God bless!

There are much stronger controls than there were in the past. I hope the threats to the environment will be controlled if the LNG plant goes forward.

I hope the powers that be don't approve that project. I agree with Jules, mess up our country to send something dirt cheap to another country is just an insult. Beautiful pictures, Gail!
Thanks, Linda

    That's the question!!

It's bad enough to bugger up our natural world for gas etc, but then to sell it dirt cheap to another country is just a double insult.

Snow Day Today

Monday, February 10, 2014

After many, many days of sunshine--chilly sunshine, but, lots of glorious sun--we have snow. White stuff everywhere. So pretty. I have been out there for a while this morning, but, now back in my cozy office with a cup of green tea and my computer. Thought I would share this funny video with you:

Hmmmm. "Pretty" and "snow" in the same sentence? Sounds like November to me! By this point most everyone I know is more apt to describe it as something that rhymes with "pretty" but really isn't very. Pretty, I mean.

LOL!! Great pics!

Met a Young Person Today. I Think There's Hope for Our World.

Monday, February 03, 2014

i picked up a young man from the university today. he was particularly funny and a joy to have in my taxi. to make conversation he asked who i wanted to win in the super bowl. i said i wasn't into that. he said he wasn't either. that while he respected the athleticism and the sport itself, he couldn't support the amount the athletes get paid. he thought it was crazy. he said people who do something worthwhile for our world should be paid a million dollars, like teachers! gotta love that kid. if the young people out there are like him there is hope for our world.

then he said, thank you ma'am for the ride, so, i had to hate him again emoticon just kidding. i thought he was terrific.

January pontification

Monday, January 13, 2014

First of all, things are going to move at a faster speed this year. I’ve got a nice little life going here and it is time to kick it up a notch. Work just a bit harder. Exercise just a bit more. Ride my horse more. Anything good I do, I'll just do a bit more of.

Did I tell you, I am getting married this year? True fact. We have lived “in sin” for 17 years. That’s what you get when you hook up with a man turning his back on his Catholic upbringing.

I will be 50 freakin’ years old on February 29th. Oh….wait…..there’s no 29. Scratch that , I’ll only be 12 and a half. What am I worried about?

So, so far this year, I am doing well. I have kept close track of my food and drink. I have a couple of goals I am tracking. One is 100% and the other is over 50%. I am happy the goal is going with the expectations.

I think I'm taking good care of my soul. That's important.

Pure truth people emoticon My earrings are perfect.

2014 is a year I am hoping to make some changes, but, I am going to try to keep my expectations reasonable.

Our son finally got married after 15 years, but it was because his wife found out how much medical insurance cost when she got a job without any. Our oldest daughter is about to get married for the first time after a lengthy relationship - so I think you're probably just one of the crowd. Congratulations.

BLOG, YOU'RE IT!

Thursday, November 14, 2013

the times are changing. i can't believe how things are moving since i joined sparkpeople. everytime i go to the grocery store, i see more and more healthy food. is it my views changing and i'm not looking at the junk or is it the world view changing and the junk is starting to take a back seat to real food?

not diet related, but, some things need to be said.

i hope i can come up with a "pool noodle" in my time.

not my best artwork, but, the cutest.

I doubt if I'll ever see the words "Fat-free" or "Lo-fat" again without also thinking "Chemical S@#@ Storm". ROFLAO

Thanks for posting these, hugs, Linda

Strange! SparkPeople would not let me enter my comment until I changed the middle work in the Chemical....Storm phrase. Naughty word I guess, lol.

OMG, I gotta grab my cats and do that right now!

I'm not sure either if organic and whole food really IS making a difference, but there must be SOMETHING big going on when a store like ALDI begins to feature organics as well as Atkins knock-offs.

That's true about the chemicals. This is why we get sicker and sicker.

Love the one about the "fat free" food labels. emoticon

I know what you mean. I'm always grateful when I go to the store and see so many healthy (especially organic, fair trade, non-GMO, and cruelty-free) options. I'm especially grateful when I see them at the lower-end grocery stores, because everybody needs those foods, not just those who can afford to buy the best.

I think it is both. You see healthier food because you are look it and the stores are starting to bring it in because of consumer demand. emoticon
