Track food intake on Sparkpeople daily nope, started again today
Keep sodium intake below 2300 every day no way to know

It's been an interesting week. I knew that I was going to have a potluck on Friday, but figured that would be the only blip for the week. I was determined to stay focused on my goals this week. The first three days didn't go so well, so I thought Saturday would be a fresh start. My husband surprised me with a visit to my Mom and I made some bad choices. Since then, I have done much better, especially in the cardio department. I really want to post a loss tomorrow so I can stay in the Last Clover Standing Challenge I joined. If I don't post a loss, I have already used my free pass and will be out of the challenge. My thoughts for the coming week are: I need to make every day a best day and stop getting sidetracked in the first days of the week so I have to buckle down the last part of the week. If I stay on track every day, it will be much more balanced. So, I am going to make tomorrow day 1 again and have a best day. Let's hope all of my hard work over the last few days will be enough to drop the weight I gained at the beginning of the week.

I know for me I sometimes have to do the morning pages in my head. It may sound silly, but really I'm doing a check in of everything going on in my head in the morning and letting the "flow of thought" go. I run a B&B so some mornings there is NO WAY I can get up earlier to write but I certainly can think while I prepare food. LOL, one of the things I loved about attending the Nordik Spa in Hull was for the first time in my life I stopped thinking. Must be what it is like to be a man, hahaha. Anyways, the idea is to check in with yourself so for me I had to brainstorm how I could do this and still feel like I was "following the plan" and move on to the next step. I suppose having a shower and using those crayone soaps to make notes on the wall would work.. or in my case write myself messages in the bread dough. Ahhh... well I do have a notepad and can jot down anything that is really important but already I have realized some thoughts are helping direct my choices later in the day. From Ontario, eh? (I read it somewhere) I'm near Ottawa. Little town called Richmond. My DD is at University of Waterloo until next September and I have a best buddy in Bancroft so I do a few roadtrips.

Week end review

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

Drink 8-10 cups of water daily: 7/7 this issue is not a problem anymore, and I am going to remove it from my goals for September, but going to continue to focus on it for the remainder of August.

Walk 20 minutes daily : 6/7 The one day I missed was a day of visiting and traveling. I could have gotten a walk in, but neglected to do so. Forgiving myself anyway!

Write 3 morning pages daily : 5/7 The days I missed it were hectic busy days with traveling, visiting and visiting a museum.

Keep my food journal: 4.5/7 I stopped doing this on Thursday morning. The next 2.5 days were very very busy, but I still managed to track my main goals those days even though I didn't write down my food all day.

Eat 8-10 freggies daily : 5/7 next week I intend to get a 7/7 on this one.

Track food intake on Sparkpeople daily: 7/7 I made sure of this one because I am tracking my sodium to keep it low.

Keep sodium intake below 2300 every day: 5/7 and after the two days of going over by less than 100 each day my weight skyrocketed by 5 pounds due to water weight.

My weigh in is tomorrow and I am optimistic. I have three levels of goals for tomorrow. Silver medal is 226.2 to be down from two weeks ago weigh in. Gold Medal is 224.8 to reach last week's weigh in goal. Platinum Medal is 223.2 to reach my goal for this week's weigh in and be one track for my August goals. I am expecting to be nearer the Gold Medal than anything, but I am hopeful that I might come close to Platinum.

I had a very productive week. Lots of goings on. I traveled to the big city on Friday to visit the Royal Ontario Museum, specifically their exhibit on Mesopotamia. My younger child and I spent 8 hours exploring this incredible treasure our province is home to, 3 of them in the Mesopotamia exhibit. Thursday was spent preparing healthy foods for the trip and after our return home as well. Friday we slept at my Mom's house and then spent the afternoon with my relatives in the city before returning home. The next few days have been spent unpacking and returning our home to it's usual state after being so busy. I have been able to achieve the majority of my goals all week long and I am still healthy and energetic. Major victories for me this week! I will set some goals for the coming week relating to my weigh in after I weigh in tomorrow morning. Will I be able to sleep with all the anticipation! I hope so!

I suppose I could count the tracking as a success for my food journal, but I didn't think of it that way. Thanks Cindy!

So if you are tracking shouldn't you count the food journal as a success for that? I would think it should be either/or. emoticon emoticon

I had a very laid back day today, didn't feel up to much after such a day on the road yesterday. I did get the fridge cleaned out, the dishwasher run, a load of laundry washed and dried. Feeling pretty optimistic about tomorrow, got big plans.

Vacation review and restatement of August goals

Wednesday, August 07, 2013

I spent twelve hours on the road yesterday to get home from my vacation. I am drained today. My vacation was better this time than the last trip we took to the same place. I made sure I packed my own breakfast foods(yogourt, almonds, grapes) and ate them every morning instead of eating the bacon and eggs my husband insisted on serving. Also, I packed a large amount of fresh cut veggies, and ate them all. I drank lots of water every day. Some of my downfalls: 1) no exercise. I could have walked in the woods every day, but it would have involved forcing my husband to go with me. I should have done that. 2) I drank a lot of alcohol. It probably wouldn't seem like a lot to most people, but I am typically not a big drinker, so it was a lot. 3) I left my food journal at home and used that as an excuse to stop tracking my food. BAD IDEA! I had blank paper and should have used it. 4) I did not overcome the obstacles and write my morning pages every day. I got them done 1 maybe 2 days and that was a HUGE struggle. My family needs to be made aware of how important this practice is for me. 5) I did not take the time to eat healthy food on the trip home yesterday. However, my "bad" choices were huge improvements on the choices I would have made in the past. At Tim Horton's, I chose a Turkey Bacon Club sandwich and a decaf coffee black opposed to a bagel, a donut and an Iced Cappuccino. At Harvey's, I chose a junior burger with cheese instead of fries. At the last rest stop we made, I had a Shrimp wrap from a Japanese restaurant which had lots of veggies on it with a whole wheat wrap. The high sodium high sugar sauce was probably a very bad idea though.

When we returned from this identical vacation one month ago I set my mind to reaching some important weight loss goals which I was able to achieve. My plan for today is to check in with the goals I set one week ago and make sure I am using the habits I developed over the last month so I can make the good choices I did make stick! My weigh in today is 227.4, which puts me up a pound from last week.

Goals for August

I am still aiming for the same weight loss goal. So, my goal for weigh in next Wednesday is 223.2. That is a loss of 4.2 pounds. It seems a little outrageous, so my smaller goal is 224.8, and my absolute must is to be 226.2. A new goal I am adding is related to my Cloverleaf commitment. I will begin tracking my food daily on Sparkpeople. A secondary goal to this will be to aim for a daily sodium intake below 2300.

My goal for August is to lose an additional 6.8 pounds to reach 219.6. I will continue to build the habits that served me well in July to achieve this goal.

Drink 8-10 cups of water daily
Walk 20 minutes daily
Write 3 morning pages daily
Keep my food journal
Eat 8-10 freggies daily
Track food intake on Sparkpeople daily
Keep sodium intake below 2300 every day

You have some good insight into your behaviour here and some good plans for moving forward. Hopefully you can find some time to talk to your family about how important your weight loss effort is and how the morning pages help you with that.

Tracking is very enlightening, especially if you do it honestly. I have gone back to it too. If you change your settings it now will give you extra food for exercising, which I really like! Helps not get hungry and binge!
