I have a dream. I want to be able to run the distance of a half marathon. Crazy, yes. Possible, I would have never thought so! This morning, though, I ran for two hours straight, and a distance of 9.64 miles. If I can find the time to carve out training opportunites, and keep working hard with my two running buddies, I believe I can achieve a half marathon. I may not do it quickly, but I believe that distance is attainable for me! Also, I played baseball today with my best friend and our hubbies. It was SO much fun! I even got three hits, and achieved my goal of hitting a single by the end of the season. My friend got some hits too! Way to go friend! Before the end of the season, we will be hitting a double! Now, we have to work on catching pop flies!

Okay, so, back in about late January, I befriended the mother of my oldest childs best friend. I was just starting to run at the time, and Sparkpeople suggested including other people in one of my fitness goals as a motivational tool. So, I asked my new friend if she would join me in running a 1/4 mile. She, much to my pleasant surprise, Agreed! So, we would embark on a new journey together, and we have since become fast best friends. We have agreed that we will run the 10K route of the Terry Fox Run together in September, and I have been training since January to do so. About three weeks later, my friend joined my training and then promptly injured herself quite severely. This injury put her out of commission for weeks, and once she was able to return to exercising, walking was her absolute limit. Gradually, her injury healed, and she was able to start again with a little bit of jogging. We have been training now seriously with her for about a month. She started out doing 1K laps, and trying to add to her laps. That was a serious stretch for a beginning runner, and after researching it some more, she concluded that smaller intervals would make it better. So, we have been doing 3 minute intervals of running with 3 to 5 minutes of recovery walking. Today, she blew her record out of the WATER, by running 9 3 minute intervals during our 1 hour session for a total of 27 minutes running! AMAZING to say the least, and I just have to say how tremendously PROUD I am of my incredible friend. Way to go lady! You are truly a JOGGER now! LMAO!

Well, I am very blessed to have some fabulous new friends in my life who are right by my side through this tough and trying weight loss journey. They just won't let me give up! We swap success and cheat stories, give tips on subtle and not so subtle changes that might help improve our odds of success. We also listen to each others complaining and whining which we all do. Every time I feel like walking away from this challenging journey, they are right there to pick me up, help me dust myself off and keep moving forward. This week, after returning from camping which was preceded by a week long binge fest, I had gained 10.6 pounds in 9 days. I started my day off on Wednesday with a butt kicking run with my running slave driver after "confessing" to my transgressions over the weekend. She really pushed me to my limit and didn't let up because she knew that I had let myself down and needed to get back to it. It felt so great to work so hard though, and it really paid off. I stepped on the scale this morning, and I have dropped 5 pounds since Tuesday! The weekend weight gain is gone, and now I am working on the binge pounds! I am going to have to remember how hard it is to lose weight I have lost over and over and over again the next time I want to give in to my weaknesses. Yesterdays run will stick in my head for a while. If I hadn't gained back over ten pounds, where would I have been to by now! No more fooling around(I keep saying this)! I am going to indulge in a small treat every day from now on, and that will prevent the massive binges hopefully! So, I am excited to keep my new momentum going, and sustain it for longer than 2 weeks, to break my 165 barrier so I can wear my snazzy new suit! Here's the pic I took.

So, my plan to be in my new bathing suit by the 15th of June didn't quite happen. BUT I am not giving up, just postponing. I have taken a pic of my beauty, and I printed 9 wallet size prints off to post all around my home to remind me of what I am working for. This will keep me on track! 11 pounds to go.

By the 15th of June, I expect to be wearing my 165 pound reward bathing suit. It is hangin on my wall outside my laundry room waiting for me to shrink into it. I am kinda hoping that I will be ready for it by the 12th of June, but the 15th is an absolute must. To make this happen, I am tracking my calories and trying very hard to stay in the right range. I am putting in a 1 hour minimum on my cardio daily, and getting up at 6 am each day to do my strength training. I am responsible for my results, and I am going to make it happen!
