I had a much better day than I posted about on Thursday. My BFF made me laugh until I cried, I had my running rest day, raked leaves with my kids. I had a high cal day, but my body was crying for good food, so I gave it what it wanted! I will get back to my normal range tomorrow. I got some cleaning up done, my kids even got in on it with no coaxing or asking from my oldest. I am all set for a 14K run tomorrow, we'll see how it goes with a 13K under my belt yesterday. Hoping I can complete it!

Crappy crappy day

So, the weather sucked on my 3K run today, but I got it in, I was damp by the end though from the rain. I came home and my hubby surprised me with some wonderful news about the magic of Christmas and informed me that Santa will indeed come through for our oldest child this year, despite the request for an item unavailable in any store or online in North America! That cheered me up, so I got going on my aerobics session to top up my deficit. I had a quick shower, prepared and quickly ate my planned lunch and headed off to take my oldest child to a doctors appointment. The doctor was WAAAAY behind, which made me late for picking up my youngest child, and that is just a whole other story of fun fun fun. The attempt to wait for me in the office was shrugged off by a teacher! "Wait outside!" Thank the good lord that another parent cared enough to stick around at the end of the day when he noticed I was not there. He kept an eye on my little darling until I arrived. Then, we had parent teacher interviews, just to check in after report cards. Both kidlets are excelling academically, just wanted to determine where the teachers thought some tweaking could be done. My youngest had 3 different meltdowns in this time, and I handled the whole thing cool as a cucumber. My patience was pushed to the limit, and I didn't crack. I also didn't indulge in the cookie binge I considered! I ate my planned celery and peanut butter snack and browsed SP to calm myself down, much pride for my decision ensued! Supper was thrown off, but I still managed to prepare the healthy tofu veggie concoction I had planned for myself instead of just taking the easy road with the mac and cheese hubby prepared as a "rescue". I had a day that would have sent me reeling months ago, and still came out with a 24 on the healthy lifestyle scale because I had planned my food and got my cardio in early! I think this balance thing is really working, and I finally feel like this is a lifestyle again not a diet.

Doctor visit, finally.

I finally got to see my family doctor today. He has prescribed me Antibiotics and an easier to use nasal spray. I didn't get it today though, my day got away with me. I will pick up in the morning after my walk and run, get started on them. I have an inner ear infection, and some redness in my throat. However, he is not sure that the vertigo, his word, is caused entirely by this infection. He has requested, that once this infection clears up in 2-4 weeks, I get my hearing tested, to rule out Meniere's Disease. This is detected by determining any hearing loss, and sounds kinda scary. I am very very hopeful that this is not my diagnosis, that is is simply the ear infection causing it, but to be honest, I would not be in the least surprised by such a diagnosis from what I read on the internet and what my doc told me. So, onto the rest of my day. I got in my run, hill training 2 down 2 up, and a total of 1 hour running. I also walked to pick up the kids from school, which gave me an extra 27 minutes of light cardio. I was pretty hungry today, and all of my food and snacks except for a chicken breast were eaten by the end of supper. I wasn't too interested in the chicken, so I decided to have a pudding and some air popcorn instead. I was still kinda munchie after that, I had a banana. This put me over my cals by 108, but I decided to have a 60 minute light bike ride to bump up my deficit. It felt good, except that about 10 minutes in, I got a NOSEBLEED! AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH
HH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like I have time for this....... I was dealing with it when hubby walked in and immediately discerned that my nasal spray is probably causing it! I will have to keep an eye on that, take kleenex for my runs from now on, in case it happens again. It stopped quickly, so I got back on the bike and finished off my hour. My deficit today is 769, feeling strong and not too hungry right now. I am heading for some much needed sleep, and ready to face a new day tomorrow!

    Okay, this is so strange. I just had my hearing tested yesterday because my ENT is trying to figure out if I have Meniere's Disease. Lol, and then I came on here and read your blog. Small world! It turns out that I have significant hearing loss in my right ear, which I already knew without the test. Three years ago I had excellent hearing. (I was tested at work.)
We definitely do not want to have Meniere's. I've been doing some reading online about it as well, and it sounds dreadful.
My hubbie and I both have used nasal sprays for allergies and they've given both of us nosebleeds. His were so bad that the "cure" was worse than the original allergies.

Take care, I'll keep my fingers crossed that you don't have any hearing loss.

Is it ok to train when you have an infection?
I'm also sick and missing running, but hope to be much better by the weekend.

Weigh in this morning for the end of November

Well, my goal for November was to be at 165 pounds by today. I weighed in first thing this morning at 166 pounds. Considering the dizziness I have been coping with for the last 10 days or so, I am quite content with my 2.4 pound loss, because it certainly wasn't a gain! I am working towards 162 pounds for the end of December, it seems to work when I set my goals to a reasonable range rather than trying to lose a million pounds in one week! Now, when I returned from my run this morning, I must have sweat a ton, because I weighed myself again, and the scale said 164.6! So, I kinda did reach my goal for November, but I don't count that as official, because it wasn't my first thing in the morning weight. I should be able to reach my December goal for sure, especially if I can make some balance!

    Congrats on a successful month and sorry to hear you weren't feeling well. I fell off the wagon for nearly two weeks: knee injury, GI bug, party for 85 people, Thanksgiving, houseguests - you know, life. I hadn't gained any weight but feel like I'm starting all over again.

Let's finish the year out strong!
