Tuesday results, Wednesday plan

Tuesday, July 06, 2010

1 mile run done on the treadmill, even got up to 5 mph, felt okay. Also, did 15 mins on my indoor bike. Swimming for 1 hour 12 mins today, and got in my upper ST too!

I did get the garbage cleaned out of both our vans today, feeling good about getting that done.

1 load of laundry got washed, hung to dry. Not everything got put away, but our couch has returned to couch status, no longer laundry central, yay!

It was SUPER hot today, it got up to 92 degrees in my living room. I felt lazy all day because of the heat. Most of my accomplishments happened in the evening when it was starting to cool off somewhat. Tomorrow I need to get started earlier in the day before the heat really ramps up. My ankle is starting to feel much better, the swelling is almost gone, and my run felt the best it has since I twisted my ankle. Hopefully by Friday or Saturday I will be up to fully healed.

Wednesday plan: 1 mile run, 30 minutes swimming, some elliptical? Core ST(I am not going to do lower body until my ankle is 100%)

Vaccum vans and clean windows.

1 load of laundry washed, get all of the rest finally put away.

Get the dishes caught up.

Get out of bed by a decent time, 8 am at the latest.

Girl, you're wearing me out!! Seriously, great job on the exercise...I've found lately that my housework kind of takes second place to my exercise...before I'd try to fit exercise in now I try to fit housework in...LOL!!

My weekend camping, falling on Friday, Monday plan

Sunday, July 04, 2010

My family and I went away camping for the weekend, just the four of us. We left Friday afternoon, arrived at about 5 pm. We got set up, had a bite to eat and settled in. I got in my workout gear and headed out for my run at about 8 pm, a late run unfortunately, but I was getting it done. About five minutes into my run, I put my foot down on the edge of pavement jutting out over a gravel road, and my right ankle turned, my foot went almost sideways, and I went down, in the middle of the road! I quickly got up, because there were cars coming (slowly, but still). I was sitting on the side of the road in the long grass. The first vehicle passed me by, but the second vehicle stopped to make sure I was okay. I said thanks for stopping, but I think I will be okay. I sat for a few minutes and just let my body settle down a bit, just to see where I was at. I got up and got moving, my right ankle was hurting, and my left knee was sore too. Walking felt okay, so I got moving up to a run again, figuring I could at least put in my mile. The craziest thing about falling is this, when I got to the side of the road, the first thing I did was stop my Garmin! Talk about priorities eh? LOL. So, now that I was running again, I restarted it, checked that I had already done .5 mile, but wanted my 1 mile to be without stopping. So, I headed out, did another 1/4 mile, which would give me 3/4 to get back to our site and log my mile. Once I got to the path where I could turn in to our site, I actually felt okay, so I continued my run, and logged over 3 miles. When I got back to our site, I asked my youngest if they wanted to join me, okay Mom! We did a 3 minute run together, and then did a cool down walk back to the site. I told my family what had happened, my hubby was a little concerned, but really just glad I was okayfine. All day Saturday, I debated with the whole family and myself about whether I should continue my running streak. 55 days in, I was not giving up without a fight. My sleep had been fitful Friday night, trying not to jar my ankle while sleeping on a bunk with my youngest child. Sitting was uncomfortable all day Saturday, I kept wanting to put it up. Walking however did not hurt, if anything it provided some relief. I talked with my oldest child about whether I should cut my streak and recover from this very frustrating and disappointing injury. " You don't want to make it worse and wreck your whole summer. If you just reduce your intake, you can still lose weight. Do what you think is best." is a paraphrase of the advice I got. Talk about sensible! However, I have to admit, I decided to try running, my hubby said, give it a try, you obviously want to. If it hurts, stop! My 1 mile went fine, but I am glad I didn't have to do more, because I was very nervous the whole time. Tonight, I did my 1 mile, and tried out biking for 15 minutes. I kept it very low intensity, and kept my time short. I am thinking minimum mile runs for the next 5 days, and maybe a bit of biking. For the most part though, I will get my big cardio in with swimming. I am not giving up on weight loss, I will really track every morself that goes into my mouth until my ankle is better and I can up my cardio burn. Also, I will do some upper body and core training that avoids any impact on my ankle etc.

Anyway, enough about that nonsense, my food was okay for the weekend. The indulgences I chose to enjoy(5 chips, flavoured roasted pumpkin seeds, some fries and gravy) all got logged. I had a super high calorie day yesterday as a result, but today was pretty low, so I am really hoping to see even a tiny drop in my weight since Friday. We had so much fun together as a family, the kids loved playing at the beach for over 2 hours on Saturday, it was too hot and the water was too murky, so I sat and watched, read my Self magazine. We took them to the pier too, and they spent an hour jumping off of it into the water. We had a fire both nights with Magic Fire, which creates beautiful colours in the fire and makes cooking marshmallows and hotdogs over it not okay, so no temptations there for me. We played catch together, walked to the bathroom together a ton(5 mins each way). My hubby and kids got ice cream, and I had a coffee instead. We just really reveled in each other's company, not a care in the world, I loved it!

Monday plan: 1 mile run (Day 58 of streak), swimming at least 30 mins. Core ST, nothing that will impact lower body.

no sugar junk food streak day 57. Eat 10 freggies minimum. Plan Tuesday food in the evening.

Clean out both vans including windows, vacuuming.

Keep screen time to a minimum.

OOHHH...now I know how it happened! Jeesh...that's what I feared...during a run. DANGIT! I'm sorry honey....I'm worried though, you kept running on it! I hope you heal up fast but listen to DH, sometimes they actually know what they're talking about lol. You are doing incredible on that streak, but a bad injury will put you out of commission. Hope you take a bit of time to rest it up.

So glad you and the fam-bam were able to get in some camping time and that you were able to get the little ones to join ya on a run! So cute!!I wish you took a pic of your camping fun...that fire with the colors sounds sooo cool!

xoxo

Years ago I was into a five mile per day routine when I sprained my ankle. I never recovered. Take care of yourself and stay positive as I know you will, and you will come out of this and do fine. I admire your courage--keep on keeping on.

Hope you are feeling better. Injuries like that are so tough and you just never know. A friend of mine recently fell playing soccer with her grandchildren and found out 2 weeks later, her leg WAS broken. She is currently partial weight bearing with a walker for another 3 weeks. I am so proud of your determination for keeping your streaks going. emoticon Have a great day and take care of yourself. emoticon emoticon

Sunday results, Monday plan

Monday, June 28, 2010

Great day today! Late day, 12:37 on Monday morning as I begin this blog.

Mulch moved, pool garden complete, I had a ton of help from a good friend.

1 mile run, done in 10 minutes on the treadmill! I cranked that baby up to 8 miles an hour for 20 seconds, tried to hit 10, but I missed the button. What a rush!

No workout with running buddy, she had work issues, but I did an aerobics session on my own for some awesome variety.

Ate 10 freggies, bang on. I had 12 scheduled, but honestly, I can't eat another bite, and I will not force myself to eat when I am not hungry.

Got 9.5 hours sleep!

Dishes cleaned up, laundry got worked on a ton, still not done though. Did small amount of work at desk, need to do more.

Monday's food is planned, yay! I even prepared some awesome lunches for my family tonight for tomorrow.

So, despite the lofty goals, I got a lot of them fully accomplished today, and achieved some degree of commitment to all of them. The yard work is hard work! My back is really sore tonight after all of the shoveling and wheelbarrow moving. Great workout, and visible results in my yard too!

Monday plan

Work on path gardens, hopefully weed them enough to make first impression of back yard pleasant, not jungle like.

Run 1 mile.

Rollerblading? time permitting, if not, swimming or indoor bike ride.

Eat lots of freggies, minimum 10.

Get 6 hours sleep.

Keep dishes tidy, fold and put away as much laundry as possible. Tidy computer desk, and two dining room tables.

Another lofty list, Tuesday will be the same, Wednesday I will collapse in exhaustion after all of this hard work! Thanks so much to everyone for all of your supportive comments on my blogs! I wish I had time to respond to all of them, for right now I am just so grateful for your encouragement, please know how much it all means to me! You guys are the best!

You continue to impress me...even with the "kidlets" as you fondly call them..you keep on rockin and are getting more and more fit by the second! Super work on that tread. Hope you are able to get in that blading you wanted or swimming. I'm proud of you for doing that aerobics session despite your buddy not being available.

MY IDOL...again, and again!
