30 minutes on the elliptical for my daily cardio

Ate 1730 something calories today with a deficit of -334 for the day.

I tracked all my food, noticed that my protein was super low, need to work on that tomorrow.

I moved my bedtime back 15 minutes last night, working on getting the whole sleep issue worked out.

Great day today, lots accomplished. Got my living room tidied up. My oldest child came home this evening after sleeping over at a friend's house for two nights, said friend came along, and is sleeping over here tonight. My youngest child had a playdate arranged for this afternoon, but no show, so the sibling of the sleepover friend came to hang out for the evening too. Lots of fun for them all, and it gave me a chance to get some things done. I have purged 3 boxes of colouring books from my entertainment unit, the kids just don't have an interest in them anymore.

Wednesday plan

30 minutes cardio
Eat 2000 calories max, track all food, and increase protein intake while reducing fat intake.
Continue working on getting my sleep sorted out.
Drink 10 cups H2O.
Eat no sugar junk Day 108.
Eat no chips Day 3.

My Mom update
I got a chance to chat with my Mom's neighbour tonight, it sounds like things are improving for my Mom's health and outlook. The promise of my visit this weekend has lifted her spirits immensely, and physiotherapy has improved her mobility this week. Still though, the concern is there of her failing health and her desires for how she be cared for, and how her finances be cared for in the event she is unable to do so herself. So, we will chat about that over the weekend, it will be nice to get back to my old neighbourhood again. I look forward to running on my old haunting grounds. I might even take my rollerblades!

I'm happy to hear you neighbor seemed to have a good update for you on mom. I'm so glad you'll be able to visit with her! How far away is she from you? I know seeing you will instantly pick her spirits up. I will keep you both in my good thoughts and prayers!

I loved the flexibility of summer, being able to have friends over at the last minute, and the back and forth that the girls did with their friends! Sounds like you have a great plan for getting in your workouts while you are visiting with your mom! Good for you!

My Mom

Monday, August 23, 2010

I got an upsetting email from my Mother's neighbour the other day. I live almost 3 hours drive away from her, and her neighbour is very concerned about her health. She hasn't been well for 8 weeks now, I wasn't aware it had been going on for so long. My Mom is 63 years old, has COPD, diabetes, Osteoporosis, and has some problems with her back. She has recently required a cane to tackle stairs, and her health is rapidly deteriorating. Her neighbour is suggesting her and I discuss myself becoming power of attorney financially and health wise for my Mom, as my sister is not capable of being responsible even in her own life. I am going to visit my Mom this weekend, my darling husband suggested this, because it sounds like she needs some support. So, I am somewhat worried about her, but in a selfish way, I am worried about my level of responsibility to her being increased. So, I will be visiting with her this weekend to give her some support.

I'm very sorry to hear about your mom, sweetie. Yes, durable power of attorney as well as a conservatorship over her affairs sounds like it's a reality now...and better to do it soon. My mom has been in the spot for her mother and two of my handicapped relatives. She's very lucky to have such an amazing daughter!

Take care of yourself and I will be thinking of you both!

I can relate to this totally...my mom passed away at 50 of cancer and I was total caregiver for a few years, while maintaining my own house as well. It is difficult, but we do what we have to to survive. You will get through no matter what! emoticon

Wow, that's a lot to contend with. I know you'll handle it all well, though. My own mom is 88 and I've had to help her navigate some big changes over the years. Just take it a day at a time - it may feel overwhelming but I know you can do it. Thank goodness you're there for your mom!

Like some of the others, I have been there as well. My mother lived with us the last 1 1/2 yrs she was alive. I was her medical Power of Attorney (POA) and shared general POA with my sister. I have also acted as medical POA for a dear friend who has gone on to be with the Lord. It is an awesome responsibility but if you take this on, it will be a special thing you can do for her. I am sorry to hear her health is failing so rapidly. She is close to my age so it is even more sad to me personally. I cherish each day God grants me in this good health. Your hubby's warm and conforting support is a true gift. Give him a hug from one of your SP friends. God bless you as you undertake another challenge in your life.

I am sorry to hear that your mom isn't doing well. I understand your concerns about increasing your responsibilities. It can be very difficult to care for a relative, and you already have a lot on your plate. I will be praying for you and your mom!

I understand how you are feeling about taking care of your mom. I've been there and it isn't easy. You just do the best you can and don't forget that there are lots of government programs out there to help her and you. If it gets too bad she may need an assisted living program. Be strong and know that God cares. He's there for you and He will help you.

I'll be praying for your mom and for you.
Be blessed, Bonnie

It is amazing how much difference just having things organized can make! I walked around this week trying to figure out what needed to be done, as the kids and I got so much done last week! You will get it done, and feel so much better for it!

That stir-fry sounds yummy! My kids and dh don't really go for stir-fry that much, so I don't usually get to have it. Enjoy!

MOD, our own personal BootCamp

Monday, August 16, 2010

I am so excited that I was chosen for Motivator of the Day today. I downloaded my emails, and there were a ton of page comments, and I was so blown away by all of them! Big thanks to everyone who left a comment, shared a goodie, or shared my celebration in every way today. When I came on today, I was in a mind set of trying to consider getting back on track somewhat. The summer has really been a struggle for me with weight loss. Vacations and visiting folks has been really filling my time, and I have also been drawn into the time sucking devices at home(computer, video games). The heat hasn't helped either! Seeing MOD really put a bug under my cushion to get serious again. I haven't tracked my food today, but I also haven't eaten non stop all day long like I have been. Also, my running buddy called and we set up a plan to meet at the school and run our own personal boot camp. I loaded up my fitness equipment, and we grabbed some rope and workout cards I got from SELF magazine and headed to the school. We set up a circuit routine with strength training and cardio exercises combined, then each of us did 1/2 the circuit, finished up witha run across the field to do tricep dips on raised wood. Then, we each did the other half of the circuit and finished off the whole thing with suicides. Then, we did it again! We did warm up and stretch before hand and do a 5 minute cool down walk at the end. Dripping sweat was the order of the day, and we are going to do it again on Wednesday, see if any of our other friends want to join in! The nice thing about doing this was there was no boredom! To be honest, I have been getting a little bored with my workouts, and spicing things up a bit was just what my brain needed. My kidlets went with us too, and they joined in a bit as well, making this a perfect workout for us.

Tuesday plan

Mindful eating, 10 cups H2O.

Get 8 hours sleep.

Scrapbook 1 page.

Start working towards mini goal of 155 pounds.

30 minutes light cardio.
