Focusing on one goal in this blog

Friday, February 03, 2012

So, a few people have commented on my 1 photo a day goal for this year. I love photography, and with the busy day to day schedule, it often goes by the wayside. So, with this goal, I will be forcing myself to pick up my camera at least once a day. The photo can be of anything I want. Wednesday was a shot of our floral arrangement on our kitchen table. Last night, quite late because I almost forgot, I took a pic of a leftover science experiment my oldest child needs to clean up, and today my oldest looked so great, I took a pic before school. I will have to archive these pics and make sure I print them out small so I can fit them all on one page and make a scrapbook out of them. This goal will help me prevent weight loss from becoming all encompassing, and help me remember to enjoy the little things in my day to day life also.

GOH, the way you have set it out makes really good sense: marrying your love of photography with "being in the moment", not letting weight be "all encompassing"! i like your idea so much, I might do it in a smaller version. What a wonderful gift to your self and the family at the end... absolutely emoticon idea jan

Taking more pictures is one of my goals this year too. I haven't taken a single one yet but like the idea of setting a smaller goal of maybe 1 or 2 a week. Thanks for the idea!!!

love that idea! a neighbor of mine started a fb group of taking a photo of yourself everyday, but it up for interpretation. I only took about 5 during the month of January. But I like your idea of just one picture a day! :)

I am going to leave January in the snow, and start 2012 all over again!

Wednesday, February 01, 2012

January was one of the most difficult months of my adult life. I am going to leave it in the past, and start February like it is a whole new year! So, same goals:

1. Reach my goal weight of 135 pounds.

2. Run a marathon.

3. Take 1 photo every day.

Goddess I am so sorry, I have been absent most of this month. :( I struggled this month but nothing even close to what you have been going through. What a great strategy to just start over and forget January. I get hung up in missing goals and give up before I have begun.

Many many many hugs and prayers headed your way.

End of Week 1 progress report

Sunday, January 08, 2012

So, my first weigh in was a success today! I am down to 208.6 from 211.2, 2.6 pounds this week! Yippee!

Things I did right this week: Got in delierate cardio 4 times. Did upper body ST. Tracked my food on 4 days and stayed in range for 2 of them. Dedicated a lot of time to family.

Improvements needed for the coming week: Track my food 5 days, stay in range for at least 3. Get in cardio at least 5 days. Do upper body ST and add core and lower as well. In order to get that cardio in, I have scheduled my workouts each day at a certain time.

I was actually quite surprised by my weight loss this week. Not complaining at all, but I know for sure that I will have to make the improvements to see continued success. So, my mini goal was 210, and I met that goal today. I was going to reward myself with a bubble bath, but I was really sore yesterday morning and had one for pain relief. So, instead, I am going to reward myself by doing my nails today. My new mini goal is 205 pounds, and when I get there in a few weeks, I will get my hair cut.

As an end note, I just want to say a great big thank you to all of my sparkfriends. You guys are all totally awesome, your support is so appreciated. I love all of the sparkgoodies not to mention the many page and blog comments. I feel so blessed to be part of this community! Thanks guys!

EXCELLENT blog and GREAT job! I really like how you approach your goals. acknowledging what you did right and what you want to change, but within that... that you don't expect perfection. Sounds like a wonderful recipe for SUCCESS!!! and CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss! emoticon emoticon

Day 3 of The Plan

Tuesday, January 03, 2012

Yesterday I procrastinated too long and left my run for after company left which was after 10 pm. It was after 11 by the time I completed my 45 minute run and upper body ST, but I was pleased to have gotten it in.

Today was really good. I slept really late and missed breakfast which worked out okay as we were having chinese takeout for dinner and it usually racks up the calories. I did a light workout on the kinect including some African dancing and a virtual run through New York City. I am feeling so sore in my core muscles, and I am reminded often throughout my day why I need to lose weight. I am so uncomfortable and awkward! I look forward to being limber and energetic again. So far I am feeling motivated and ready to make this happen.

Way to stick to it! The kinnect sounds like lots of fun!

I had a long hard day, first day with the kiddos back to school and I found myself working out at 10pm, but it is done! :)

Plans for Monday

Monday, January 02, 2012

I am needing to do an upper body strength workout and a run today. I have company coming for dinne, so I'm not sure if I should workout before or after they come. I should probably get stuff ready for tonight and then if I have time, I will workout. If I run out of time, I can workout after folks head home. I tracked my food for breakfast already, and I will track the rest as the day goes on.
