Daily goals is not working

Wednesday, November 21, 2012

I just don't seem to have the interest I used to in achieving daily goals. So, I need to change it up. I am going to set myself a goal to accomplish over the week, just one thing to work on. I will set the goal on Wednesday since that is my weigh in day. For this week, it will be my goal to track all of my food. I am aiming for at least a 5/7. If I accomplish that goal, I will reward myself by purchasing a new book for my Kobo.

    Hey There!

Just as a suggestion - I make daily goals BUT I allow myself the flexibility to finish those goals by the end of the week so that way I do not feel defeated when it doesn't happen due to family obligations and other *stuff* that gets in the way. So on Monday I write it all out for the week but surely I end up switching up certain workouts and then I have some things that I do consistently as well. Just don't be so hard on yourself - at least you ARE writing at goals because you HAVE them and that is important. You do have a PLAN!!

Hey there, thanks for commenting on my blog. I get you, I should be aiming for 7/7, and that is a goal I take seriously. However, I have learned about myself that aiming for perfection sets me up for failure. Right now, i need to do what works for me, so I am going to accept progress before perfection. As I am able to gain some consistent success, upping my expectations is fair, and certainly will be necessary. For right now, I am going to gain a measure of success that I can achieve and build from there.

You wrote down a contradiction.... goal for week is "to track all of my food", which contradicts with "goal of 5/7". Its like you are giving yourselp permission to fail. Why not track all of your food? What's to keep you from doing that 7/7? Does tracking your food help you to make better food choices or result in weight loss? Then give yourself the use and commitment towards that tool wholeheartedly.

Sunday goals

Saturday, November 17, 2012

So, my daily goals haven't been happening consistently lately, but giving up will not make them consistent, so I am forging on.

Sunday goals

1. Drink 8 water.
2. Walk
3. Eat cabbage soup for lunch
4. Clean up living room and get out holiday decorations.

Thank you for the always-needed reminder of consistency ... which includes consistency of showing up again whenever I've missed some things for a while. Also glad to know I'm not the only one cleaning the living room tomorrow! (Although I could get a great workout stepping over the piles on the floor!) I recently cleaned out closets (a good thing!) but the residue piles are still sitting in the living room. Tomorrow: gone!! :)

Thursday goals

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

1.Walk 30 minutes
2. Drink 10 cups H2O
3. Track food
4. Clean up the living room
5. Fold laundry

I have been an emotional mess this week, working through it. Not well, but working through it. I didn't weigh in this morning like I planned on, I will not weigh myself again until next Wednesday now. In the meantime, my focus is on eating right and getting my walks in. I have fallen behind on my training a bit, but that isn't entirely true because I built in some extra time to give myself wiggle room before my 5K walk in December. I did my walk on the treadmill this evening, I am pleased to have it set up again, it will drop one obstacle from my path to exercise.

1. Mom duty, done, and done well.
2. Drink my water, still need a couple cups, gonna have it when i am done here.
3. Have a healthy lunch, yuppers!

Very busy day, out of the house for many, many hours. I spent a lot of quality time with kidlet #2, and a little with kidlet #1. Helped out a couple of family members, updated our banking. I didn't eat the best, having a couple of Halloween goodies and a mostly unhealthy high calorie dinner. I will track it as best I can before bed, which I did last night too. Getting there, little by little.

Saturday goals

Love that you have daily goals and you "write" them! Great idea. I have the most difficulty with the food tracking.

Thursday review, Friday goals

Thursday, November 08, 2012

1. Walk with a friend. I did this, it was a great walk.
2. Drink 10 cups water, not so much.
3. Track, did not happen past lunch.
4. Checking in right now.
5. Planning did not happen.

Pretty brutal day in terms of my goals, but I still feel like I had a nice day. I spent some much needed time with a good friend, did a little bit of Christmas shopping, and my kitchen is still clean. I had a munchie attack after school, but I did track that. I think I will attempt to track my dinner after I finish posting this.

Friday goals

1. Mom duty
2. Drink my water
3. Have a healthy lunch
4. Blog
