Food for thought on how body hate affects our health journeys

I'm not saying that we should not try to eat healthier and move, but the self-hate has GOT TO STOP.

I agree, and I am so guilty of it. I am trying to do little things to spruce up the body, I'm working with. Definitely not easy. emoticon

About 10 years ago I read a Newsweek article that said more parents would choose to abort their children if they knew they were going to be fat than if they knew they were going to have several life-long diseases. We are a fat-hatin' country for sure. But, what good does all that hate do anyone (the hater or the hated)?

    Two thumbs up!

After losing 100lbs, regaining it (with friends) and then starting on the weight loss journey again, I made up my mind that I was going to measure my success in what I could do. How much I could lift. How far I could walk with my (fit) husband, and how fast. What things I could try that I'd been scared to do before. (Ice skating! Windsurfing! Whitewater rafting!) I'm far from perfect at it, but I will say I had way more fun and felt much better about life this second time through.

Tuesday, July 29, 2014

I just stabbed my cheek with a fork while trying to eat my kale and Brussels sprout salad.

Those kale leathery, unruly kale leaves can be dauntingly hard to manage sometimes - but kale and Brussels sprouts together? Sheer chaos!
That being said I'm sure that hurt, and the dressing probably didn't help either! emoticon
Hope you are feeling better now . . .

Sunday, July 27, 2014

I am learning to use my foam roller to alleviate pain.
Does anyone have any resources for using a foam roller?

Thanks in advance!
