Now mind you he spoke to me thru my ipod and Nike+ fitness system. He said Hi I'm Tiger Woods and I just want to congratulate you. Today you ran your fastest mile on record. Whoooo hoooo. Works for me. lol

Last time I had a running milestone it was Lance Armstrong who whispered sweet nothings in my ear. hahaha.

Seriously though if you haven't heard of Nike+ipod you should check it out because it has got to be the most motivating thing out there.

Haaaaallejuhah, Haaaaaallejuhah, halejuhah, halejuhah...Heather's scale finally moved!
Yes it finally moved!
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalejuhah!!!

I guess the men in the white coats won't have to make a trip to cart me away after all, at least this week. lol

Whooo hoooo after 5 weeks of doing all the right things, and starting to get very discouraged, my scale finally moved...only a pound, but it moved and it put me into the land of the 170's a strange and mysterious land which seems to have a mysterious password needed to enter.
I still don't know what the password is...but I'm in and thats all that matters.

Plus this morning "TOM" made an appearance so it could be more than a pound.

Whooo hooo...don't ya love it. The first day of a new month....a month to set goals and shoot for the stars and give it all you got....and dream about what you will have accomplished come the end of the month.

I'm excited...Last month we had a miles challenge at the NEW team. I logged 76 miles all by myself, my 3 other teamates in the challenge, one of whom is in her last couple weeks before having a baby...contributed big time. With just the four of us...we logged over 300 miles. Whoooo hoooo. Its a small team..but mighty.

So that worked so well we thought...what the heck lets go again. We are also going to do a nurtirional challenge for Feb.

So I'm reved up and ready to go. Got my grrrrr factor on and I'm ready to

Zumba....I did it...and I love it!

I first heard about zumba from some people on spark last year. I asked what is it and they
pointed me to a video of zumba. It looked like so much fun and the people doing it were crazy about it. So I tried to find a class but Zumba had not yet arrived on the east coast of Canada. Then it finally arrived at a local dance studio a year later. I was so happy, excited and terrified!

It meant going to this class by myself, and I didn't know what it would be like. The video I had seen looked like fun, but what if it wasn't like that, what if every one in the class was skinny and fit, and didn't have a second left foot like me! What if they went right and I went left. YiKES! I nearly didn't go because of all the scary What Ifs!

In the end though I put on my big girl panties, took a deep breath....several...I think I was hyperventilating...but I went. I'm soooooooooooooooooooooo glad I did.

In the class was every shape and size of woman. There were some young, fit, and very co-ordinated young people, but for the most part...it was women 30's 40,'s and 50's. The class itself was awesome. Soooooooooooooooooooo much fun you don't even realize how hard your working out. Make a mistake, turn the wrong way well thats just one more funny thing to laugh about. WE all had a tremendous time, and although I didn't know anyone going in,
I knew several on the way out. Everyone was smiling and laughing when we left and we can't wait for next Tuesday to do it again.

I'm so glad I didn't let my fear stand in the way of going!

Oh and if you've never heard of Zumba...its a fitness class that incorporates latin dance moves and is done to fabulous latin music that just makes your feet wanna move.

The motto for Zumba is "Ditch the Workout, have a Party" and that is exactly what its like...so much fun. You can see videos of it at youtube.com just search for zumba.

Everyone should try it.

So I nearly didn't go because of my fear and insecurities, what is your fear and insecurities holding you back from????

    I am so excited for you that you stepped out on a limb and did this class despite your fear. Too often we let our fears hold us back rather than just living life on lifes terms and enjoying a good chuckle at ourselves. WOO HOO to you. Now go out and get some more of that GRRRRR factor(when any one of us steps out of our comfort zone somehow it pulls someone else along and encourages them- thanks for encouraging me today.)

    Zumba is in my top 3 favorites for working out. I do it 2-3 times a week. You are exactly right half the fun is laughing at yourself when you turn the wrong way....lol.

I'm so proud of me today I can't stop beaming. I was finally able to run an entire 5 K. Actually I ran 5.48 km in 34 minutes. Its been a long time coming and I'm absolutely thrilled.

It came at a good time too, I was disappointed this morning to see my scale for the second week in a row had refused to budge despite doing the right things.

Then I ran and got to feel the thrill of this achievement I've been working towards for so long and I realized all the different ways to measure progress.

To make things even happier my husband grabbed my arm, and said wow your getting some muscles. Yippie..they are little muscles but they are starting to show thanks to the home gym I got for christmas and taking my resistance band to work. Then it dawns on me....whooo hooo...that's why my scale hasn't budged...I'm actually building muscle which weighs more than fat.

I'd like to see the scale drop I'm 180 and I'd so like to at least enter the 170's its hard to be patient but so nice to see very real gains in other areas.

One thing that really helped me to do the 5 k today was Serena Williamson's Stupendous speed coach for ipod working with my nike plus shoes. With her coaching I was able to push past my usual limitations. I love the whole nike plus system.

    Good for you!!! That's so awesome! I can't wait for the day when I can actually run that far. I'm at about 1.5 miles right now, so I still have a long way to go! And that's wonderful that you are noticing changes in your body as well. Keep up the hard work!!!

I remember walking my first 5K. I *REALLY* want to get there again. I miss competing! Are you considering doing a race?

    Congratulations on running a whole 5K! That is quite an accomplishment. You should be feeling good about yourself. Don't let the scale get you down you'll see those pounds drop soon. More importantly you are getting stronger and healthier. I'm proud of you.
