The More i Run, The more i realize

The more i run, more i realize its my own running journey, going little furter or bit faster, i am not a natural runner but a struggling one trying harder and not backing out

I have saved my past records and compete with my own numbers, have my own set of personal bests and it feels good to set a new PB whether its just 20 seconds improvement in average pace than my previous time

I shifted to slow pace to cover distance, never thought i would finish a 10K though it took me 74 minutes to finish it

Its a good feeling to improve on our own numbers, to accomplish those tiny goals, it will take weeks but i will eventually finish 10K in a more average time rather 74 minutes ;-D

Afternoon cravings and Damm That cake

everyday afternoon i want a peice of creamy milk chocolate :( but today i picked a chocolate cake slice from bakery shop near my office, and excuse was - i went for that run early morning :(

i had 2 cups of coffee with that slice of cake, i loved it so much, but the guilt is killing me

it would have been better if my office was in some remote areas with nothing around, or may be a running ground around, i hate that all my favorite food shops are just walking distance away, i walk past them morning, lunch time and while going back home

i need strength to ignore them

    one slice of cake is not the end of a journey...we have to work indulgences in sometimes, or we'll never make it to the finish line

    Guilt is the enemy. It's not like your entire lifestyle is indulgent and unhealthy. You enjoyed it, and you will continue to be healthy.

    Fight the guilt! emoticon You had a slice of cake, not the whole cake! Take that as a positive! An indulgence is just that an indulgence. You're doing so wonderful and every healthy lifestyle should be able to include a slice of cake. Just track the calories and move forward! Keep up the great work. emoticon

    well now that u indulged its over. dont think about it but move ahead...u are doing so good and not indulging once a while is fine..now try to see if you can not have it for 3-4 days....thas the key...complete cold turkey makes it worse...

My First 10 K Run

Sunday morning our group planned a trail run in a small island away from buzy life of city, we all met at ferry dock and crossed the river to reach the island

we made 2 groups, one for 10K run and another was 15K
as its my first 10K, i was nervous and crossed my fingers to be able to finish it, we took a small break at 5K near a nice floating market and continued our run, it seemed to be easy for everyone and i was slowest running with jelly legs, running and then slowing down to recover and then run again to catch up with people running in front

i was the last one to reach the dock, and thanks to the sports drink i carried with me i was not out of energy

i loved the run and though it was slowest as compare to others i am still proud of finishing 10K in 86 minutes, yes i really need to improve on the numbers, still on my baby steps

    That's a fantastic time, well done you! I'm new to running to so for me, I know I'm nowhere near as fast as others but just completing the distances and feeling good at the same time is the buzz that gets me through.

I've found something that totally works for me that a colleague advised me to do: run/walk intervals. I run for 5 minutes, power walk for 1 minute. And I do that the WHOLE run (I did 10 miles last weekend using this technique). I managed to get a faster average mph than if I just tried to jog the whole thing. AND I feel great at the end. Maybe give that a go if you feel you are lagging when you run with your group. emoticon
