Hello Fear, How are you today?

Monday, June 18, 2012

In the cafe (spark message board) there is a question, "are you afraid of being thin?"

My first reaction was not, but really, I might be.

I have bee heavy for so long, it has become a part of my identify, my way of relating to the world. It has something to do with first impressions, and where I shop.

It includes some of my excuses for not engaging in the world around me, and it is am unknown.

Well, Hello Fear. How are you today? You think you can stop me from my goals? This is from a quote by Thich Naht Hanh from a book compiled by Benjamin Dalring

ehhhhh computers

Sunday, June 17, 2012

Finally I found the reason I couldnt blog - chrome is now blocking pop-ups. Wouldn't I have remembered changing that?

Oh well, everything seems to take longer to do than I anticipate. I spent some time planning this morning time for all the chores around the house this summer. I automatically doubled everything.

I am hoping whatever is slowing me down, or causing faulty estimation, is resolved with better diet and exercise.

Last night's walk gave me some foot pain today. Time to add a pool membership so that I can get in my cardio without hurting my feet.

Everything is falling into place....slowly.

I don't like Google chrome. It keeps popping up on one of our laptops, and I didn't delete it last time. Wonder if that is the reason why the Hoyle card game quit working on that computer. Probably not. Still haven't figured that out yet.

Everything takes longer than it did when we were younger. When I was retired early, it took a few months to realize I didn't have to do everything today (late into the night) because now there truly is tomorrow when I can do whatever needs done.

A pool is an excellent solution when dealing with pain. I wish we had a public pool available. The YMCA is very crowded. Too much maintenance to install one at my house. Hope your pain lessens. Is that plantar fascitis?

getting motivated to run

Saturday, June 16, 2012

I used to love to run. Now i procrastinate to avoid it.
I wish I could figure out why.
the longer I wait the hotter it will get.
It's 8am.
The dog's stomach is making alien noises.
He needs some plain rice.
I need to wash dishes.
I think I have some kind of a stress pattern, that keeps me from enjoying the run.
The run is under siege from all the other to do's.

why will this time be any different?

Friday, June 15, 2012

I am back after a long absence. I read posts like confessions, and think yes, I also repeat my errors or sins against my health.

I was getting this grim sensation staring truth in the face and felt like why will this time will be any different?

so let me count the ways it could be different, if I choose them.

I know that my sights are less on the scale and more on the habit (maintenance).
I know from experience that I must love myself now, not "when..." (maintenance).
I know that I need my body to live (maintenance).
I know that burdens are halved when shared, and joy doubled (spark friend maintenance).
I know that the quality of my life is perpetuated, not achieved (maintenance).

got any maintenance truths? let's be brutally honest and then have some fun this summer!

glad to be back
Aleksandra

Planning and prepping are so key for me. Since our 3+ month period of bouncing between hospital and rehab with Dad, starting last Oct, then my sister moving in to help me care for Dad, my planning and prepping have been off. I am finally realizing that I am just going to have to do it on my own, and let her prepare what she wants. I joined a challenge this Fall, too, to help keep me focused. I'm not asking for the moon...just a downward trend in weight and inches, no matter how long it takes.

Go shopping! You will be glad when you have healthy food there.

I went to Walmart this morning & got the "bargains" which included chicken breasts (no skin & deboned) for $1.88# so I got 10# since my son, Neal is still doing the P90X work out. He's been faithful for 7 months now and he really looks good.
I buy the Great Value Store brand & save on tuna, hamburger helper, etc. I normally go to the military commissary but some of the store brand at Walmart is cheaper since the Navy only have full brand name products. I get the 4# bags of frozen strawberries since my son makes Protein shakes. I go to SAM'S CLUB and get the 5# bags of Protein Powder & I get those Premium Protein Bars that have 30 Grams of protein which are a good deal. They are about 290 calories & he has one for a "snack" about 7 PM. If I get a real craving for "candy" I have about 1/2 of a bar & that does me since they are very chocolate.
