changing my goals again!

Thursday, March 21, 2013

I am going to listen to everyone and cut back. I just feel like when I cut back I don't find success in my weight loss. but I will try it because this isn't working either. I guess if I do something it is better than nothing. I feel kind of defeated right now but I will plug on.

Eating Goal:
Track everything I eat

Exercise Goal:
Exercise 30 minutes 5 times a week,

Spiritual Goal:
Have a quiet time everyday( 15 minutes a day)

Other Goals:
Work on decluttering my desk (5 to 10 minutes a day)

That should help. Right now my biggest problem is my eating. I just want to eat everything in sight. I need to get more discipline.

I love your goals, simple, do-able, realistic!
1. track everything
2. exercise 30 min 5x week
3. quiet time for 15 min a day
4. Ten minutes on your desk each day.

This you can do. Now stick with it for a month, let it become a habit. On my spark blog everyday I list my goals and how I did at them for the day. And if I accomplished my goals, the day was a success no matter what else didn't get done. If I don't accomplish them, the day was a waste, regardless of what else got done. That attitude really puts your goals in perspective and helps them cement into habit. =)

Week 3/17 - 3/23

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Today I was an ok day I did get exercise in but eating hasn't been good. I just can't seem to master this. I guess that is why I am still over weight. It doesn't seem how small the steps are.

Eating Goal:
Track everything I eat
Eat healthy snacks.

Exercise Goal:
Exercise 30 minutes 5 times a week,
Walk 8000 steps a day,

Spiritual Goal:
Have a quiet time everyday( 15 minutes a day)

Other Goals:
Work on decluttering my desk (5 to 10 minutes a day)

I just want to quit but I know I can't and I wont. I know if I quit I will just get bigger at least right now I am not gaining

Well, you still have 6 goals--try cutting them down some. When you cut your goals back that one week you to only 3 or 4, you had SUCCESS and you said, "I did so well I think I"ll add some more this week" and ever since then you didn't do as well.

Why not go back to what worked (3 or 4 goals) and just stick with that for the month. If you add 3 new goals a month, by the end of the year, you will have 3 DOZEN!!

But if you keep having 6 goals and not doing them, by the end of the year you will still have zero. Give yourself a chance to adapt. It takes a MONTH to form a habit...

And plus, you really can't quit. You would be quitting on yourself, on your family, on your spark friends, on your God that gave you this marvelous body as a gift and then watched you abuse and neglect it...

YOU cannot quit. This is not an option. You deserve to be a healthy, happy person. How about 15 min of exercise everyday. Don't be so hard on yourself. Take one day at a time....one meal at a time. Remember to drink water with every meal and snack.
You can do this. emoticon

Might I suggest starting slower and accepting slower progress as the trade off to continuing to move forward? For me (I am 5'2", 244 lbs mother of four who recently got married to a healthy normal person), my efforts to clean up my nutrition and house along with adding in exercise were a bit too much to handle all at once! I started with my house (very important to the non-messy person I just married) and as it started getting tidier, I felt the need to de-clutter me as well. I started an exercise program, but couldn't manage that AND food at the same time without taking off someone's head. So I simply started tracking my food - didn't matter what I ate, so long as I tracked it - and focused more on my exercise. A few days later, I WANTED to eat differently and have started that (though I have still eaten some well planned high-calorie desserts in there). We don't "master" a subject our first day of college...in fact, "mastering" is another whole degree program away! Just keep learning and applying what you can when you can! YOU WILL GET THERE!!

Also, SparkCoach is a great resource (in my opinion).

Are your goals a bit too lofty? I recall from reading the Spark that even 1 small goal manageable to be done every day is a kicker. I have been thinking about this a lot lately. I like the 10 fitness minutes every day. I think I could muster that energy even on a low motivation day.

Regardless, you'll dig deep & find your motivation. It seems cyclical, so it will be back! Just keep plugging away in the meantime. You got this!

this week 3/10- 3/16

Sunday, March 10, 2013

I did really well last week with reaching my goals. So this week i am keeping those goals and adding a few more. I hope I will be as well this week. I am not adding tons because I know this week is going to be crazy so I don't want to be defeated before I start.

Eating Goal:
Track everything I eat Sun, Mon,Tue.wed. thur, fri
Eat healthy snacks. Mon, wed, thur, fri

Exercise Goal:
Exercise 30 minutes 6 times a week, Mon, Tue, Wed, fri
Walk 8000 steps a day, Mon, tue, wed, fri

Spiritual Goal:
Have a quiet time everyday( 15 minutes a day) Sun, Mon, Tue, wed, thur, fri

Other Goals:
Work on decluttering my desk (5 to 10 minutes a day) Mon, Tue

I feel very motivated right now.

I also lost 1 pound this last week so I am on a roll.

The Mon after the goals are the days i did that goal Like I will add Tue and Wed after I do them. Kind of a check to see how I am doing. i was thinking i should add a new goal or two each week? Do you think that is to much?

You would stick to 5 for six week then pick new ones and do you still keep the old ones? I guess it is hard to pick just 5. There is so much in my life I want to change. It is very hard to be patient.

It works doesn't it, having a few goals that you know you will get done instead of a big stack of goals that you won't. Your new goals still seem reasonable, its basically only 5 things (which to my way of thinking, is ENOUGH!!).

I don't understand the "Mon" at the end of the goals though--is that what you got done today (sorry my question mark key doesn't work--I have to use a period).

But basically you have 5:
1) track everything
2) eat healthy snacks
3) exercise 30 minutes
4) track steps walked and hit 8k
5) quiet time everyday
oh and
6) de-cluttering

Well, that's still not too bad. Me, I would drop one of them and stick with the 5--you know it works and you can do it. Plus I would stick with my 5 for six weeks then pick 5 new ones. That way you KNOW you have them down as habits before moving on. I'm a fan of small to-do lists =)

Monday, March 04, 2013

Yesterday I wrote out my March goals and someone said that was a lot of goals and she is right. i looked back over Jan. and Feb. goals and I realized I haven't done very well with them. I think they are good goals and something I can do but I need to break it down even more, so I am going week by week. I am going to concentrate on 1 goal from each group.

Eating Goal:
Track everything I eat Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thur, Fri. Sat

Exercise Goal:
Exercise 30 minutes 6 times a week Sun, Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri, Sat

Spiritual Goal:
Have a quiet time everyday( 15 minutes a day) Sun, Mon, Wed,Thur, Fri, Sat

Other Goals:
Work on decluttering my desk (5 to 10 minutes a day)Fri, sat

I hope this helps. I feel very motivated right now.

Now this sounds like realistic goals, and I know you will do better than you did in January and February. I used to do that too, every year at New Years I'd make dozens of goals for the year and every year I wouldn't accomplish much (sometimes not anything).

But then I heard this saying "If you chase 2 rabbits, both will get away" and I took it to heart. I realized that I was chasing dozens of rabbits. So last year, I had one resolution: Build my self esteem. And each month I did just 2 things, all month. Then next month (while still doing the 2) I would add 2 more. By the end of the year I had completed 2 dozen tasks!!

This year, my only goal is to get fit, and I have been faithfully exercising and eating healthy.

My 5 goals for this 6-week period are:
1) a blue smoothie and a green one, each day
2) eat 12 freggies (and the smoothies count towards this)
3) Sarah Conners pull up workout 3x week
4) C25K 3x week
5) study Chinese half an hour each day.

We can do it!!
