2. Money will buy a fine dog, but only kindness will make him wag his tail.

3. If you don't have a sense of humor, you probably don't have any sense at all.

4. Seat belts are not as confining as wheelchairs.

7. Business conventions are important because they demonstrate how many people a company can operate without.

8. Why is it that at class reunions you feel younger than everyone else looks?

9. Scratch a cat and you will have a permanent job.

10. No one has more driving ambition than the boy who wants to buy a car.

11. There are no new sins; the old ones just get more publicity.

12. There are worse things than getting a call for a wrong number at 4 AM. It could be a right number.

13. No one ever says 'It's only a game.' when their team is winning.

14. I've reached the age where the happy hour is a nap.

15. Be careful reading the fine print. There's no way you're going to like it.

16. The trouble with bucket seats is that not everybody has the same size bucket.

17. Do you realize that in about 40 years, we'll have thousands of old ladies running around with tattoos? (And rap music will be the Golden Oldies!)

19. After 70, if you don't wake up aching in every joint, you are probably not dancing enough!!

20. Always be yourself because the people that matter don't mind, and the ones who mind, don't matter !

    Love 'em!
ENUFF81020 2/9/2010 11:55PM

    Hi there,
Thanks for the emoticon, I enjoyed these, shaking my head in agreement as I read. There is nothing like humor to make someone feel better!!

Thanks for your comments on my blog as well. I wanted to consider low-carb ideas simply becasue of the way we need to measure and keep track of my important nutrients as ordered by my doctor. Since I am no longer able to get in enough of anything through my diet, protein is the big part of what I do eat. Eating is a far more complicated thing for me now and I need to learn a lot about food so that I stay successful and reasonably healthy. It sure would be nice to have everything be straightforward, but as you well know, our bodies don't always cooperate with things.

I am sure glad that we crossed paths, I learn from you and am motivated by the way you handle things and keep at your goals and good choices. I hope that you are doing okay with that elbow as well. Take care of it and of yourself all round!!

I thought our cat was unusual. But according to #9 she is a 'Normal' Cat. No wonder I'm a Dog person.

Celebrate With Me! Maintenance! Survived My First Week!!

Monday, February 08, 2010

In spite of my broken elbow and not being able to do my usual high intensity cardio or strength training, going from two hours a day every day exercise to simply nothing but some light walking, I maintained my weight of 126!! Woohoo!!! It can be done! This in spite of Spark increasing my calorie requirements to 1440-1790!! Higher than I ever been since losing!!

    Good job!!! Congratulations!!!
JACOBSS914 2/8/2010 2:38PM

Great job, you shold be able to maintain, with in a few pounds, realize it won't be rock solid. Un-like me past few weeks they seem to be rock solid, held down with bolts, screws, a few tones of concrete, and a roll of duct tape just to make sure.

Great Job, glad to hear its going well for you.
LJR4HEALTH 2/8/2010 2:04PM

Quiet Sunday

Sunday, February 07, 2010

As I can't wash and cut up my own fruits and veggies, just bought a big batch that Mom did up for me. So for a week I will be working on cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, red bell peppers, bananas and honeydew. Next week Mom will make up a five bean salad. Not that she needed these extra chores of looking after me. She injured her right hand quite some time ago and its still in bad shape -very swollen and not getting any rest at all. It may be partly arthritis flaring as well. Tomorrow, Mom is cooking up a turkey for my sister and family who are coming in tomorrow, one day earlier prior to the leaving for Mexico. Here is hoping I can be disciplined with this meal, especially the dressing. I can't afford any binging right now. Will get on the elliptical, shower, then settle in for a good read (another Gary Jennings book in the Aztec series), remembering to take fitness breaks every hour.

You are handling your setback like a champion. Keep it up! Your body is probably benefitting from the change-up in routine!

I know that managing your elbow and sticking with the good health habits is reqauiring thought and planning on your part, but you are managing it perfectly. You have planned healthy eating and the type of activity you can do without damaging yourself any further-- emoticon So many could learn from just watching you!!

I hope that you aren't having a lot of pain and that this all goes according to plan. Enjoy your reading, we are finishing the big weekend family room project I inflicted on everybody. (It is such an improvement and everything has been cleaned and decluttered. I am deciding the next project for after the completion of the bathroom remodeling!)

You just keep on a steady pace. You will be back at it full speed soon enough. You are so lucky to have your mama. But I'm sure you knew that already. You are doing a great job. Just keep going emoticon

Smart plan! Can I borrow your mom?

Saturday

Went to the mall for some fast walking for just over an hour. Got one of those cactus T-Shirts on sale -Royal Garden, Mom bought the Vancouver one so we got 15% off the sale price for buying two of them! Went home had my usual fresh veggies for lunch broccoli, cauliflour, diakon and carrots, using yogurt for a dip. Mom made some spinach ricotta lasagna using spinach and whole wheat noodles, but it wasn't ready until after lunch, and I didn't want it for supper, just my usual egg whites, and had to add an apple to make up calories and carbohydrates needed for the day. We went for a walk outside, enjoying the frost and fog all over -yes -we had heavy fog yesterday and some today -in the middle of winter!!! It makes everything look greyed out like a photo fading away.. I am missing my regular exercise though, Sunday would have been aquafit day :((. Walking around and around in a mall is going to get old fast -I realize there people who do only that for exercise, but it doesn't challenge me.
