I am feeling a little discouraged right now because after the last year of working out 4-5 days a week I started having problems with my feet I have been to the foot doctor and started getting cortisone shots in one heal and some medication, it is starting to feel better and I will need some arch supports and some more shots, but then the other foot started bothering me. I love to walk on the treadmill because I can't do the eliptical machine and how the heck can you exercise without your feet! Uggghhhh....I am hopeful that between the shots, medicine and arch supports that I can pass this slump soon, it just gets so frustrating. I am thankful that I have not gained any weight during the last couple of weeks and have maintained but i do have a workout buddy that I feel I have let down. She probably understands because she has had some foot problems too, but I hate not being there. I guess that the important thing to remember is that this is just a set back and I am not giving up I am looking forward to spending the Thanksgiving holiday with my family and plan on only tasting some of the desserts, not chowing down on them. I am grateful to be alive and pretty healthy and that my family and friends are as well. Happy Thanksgiving everyone
I am glad that the weekend is here and I am feeling very positive. I have been doing really well on my tracking and exercise and I am very proud of myself for doing it all! I woke up yesterday and today feeling super motivated and excited about going to work out. I have a great friend at the YMCA that keeps me in check, I don't want to let her down or myself. I have been lifting weights more and I just feel great! A little more til my goal, but i know i can do this. I am so glad I found sparkpeople 2 years ago, it has changed my life. Happy Friday everyone
So when I started my exercise routine i was getting headaches every day. Some days it would last all day and a couple of times it lasted for a couple of days. After consulting my doctor she said to keep my heart rate at 150 or less. Well I am thinking based on my age and weight and such that I should be able to go up to 180, but I don't want the headaches.
So i have been walking on the treadmill and as long as I stay at 150 or less there is no headaches. I do have a very damaged vein in my thigh from a massive blood clot and a filter in my aorta to catch any potential clots that i may get and I started thinking that the headaches could have to do with one or both of those things, the doctor said it shouldn't. Well it has been a couple of months without headaches so i decided to do the eliptical today. As soon as my heart rate got to 120 I could feel the headache coming on so I slowed down some. Now i feel like you use your thighs much more on the eliptical than the treadmill and with that vein I really think it has something to do with the blood not circulating to my heart and head alot. I am not sure, but that is my conclusion at this point. I think that sucks because i am getting bored on the treadmill even with changing the incline. Well i don't want the headaches so I guess i cannot do the eliptical any more . Such is life I guess.
I recently have hurt my back working out. It started last thursday after walking and i have started lifting weights and i think that the machines just feel so much easier that i wasn't paying attention to my back. I walked slowly this morning and wore my back brace. I had a little pain, but i am sure it will get better. I had back surgery 3 yrs ago but sometimes my back still hurts. I have decided to lift hand weights manually and i can do the ab machine and leg press. I can probably do a couple of lower body machines, but the upper body machines is the culprit of this pain. Oh well, live and learn I guess. I am excited about lifting weights and gaining more muscle so that keeps me motivated. I just have to be aware of my back the whole time and wear my brace. Have a great day everyone!!
I am so happy that i have a workout buddy to go to the gym with! I have never been more motivated to stay on track and get healthy. I have been going to the gym 3 days a week to do cardio and usually i do 2 other days at home of yoga or resistance bands workout. I am thinking about going those 2 days to the gym now and lifting weights. I am a little leary because of my back problems but as long as i am careful i think that I will be fine. I am just feeling so good right now and I have been tracking daily and earning my spark points. I am just so grateful to have such wonderful support here on sparkpeople! Today and tomorrow I will also be doing alot of yard work so that will burn up some more calories as well. I love summer because i can get outside and enjoy the sunshine while doing what i love!
