Spark Solution Challenge by Candle Light!

Monday, June 24, 2013

I have been gearing up for this challenge for a week or more. I thought this is just what I need to get focused on my weight loss and healthy living goals. So I read the sample download on my Kindle last week and decided I wanted the physical hard cover (canary yellow) book. I couldn't get to the B&N until this weekend but I thought," what the hey I have already read the intro and more on Kindle...I will dig in on Sunday." Well family came and went and I did not pull out the book until the evening.
As my luck would have it--in the meantime-- our power grid goes down and we are camped out in the house with candles and flashlights. Nevertheless I was true to my word and I sat reading the book strategizing my food and exercise--by candlelight.
Hey, you do what you gotta do to stay on track and not miss the bus heading for where you need to go. See you there!

Winter Blahs!

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

I used to hibernate in the winter. You know, I figured that it was a good time to take a break from exercise. Now I know there is no hibernating like "there is no finish line". I am a better me if I stay active. If I am cooped up, I love pulling out the "Wii Walk It Out" and building my island. I have a bench that I picked up second hand for cheap and increase my intensity by stepping vs walking. I have an arsenal of fitness tools like dvd's from SparkPeople and others, dance dvds, hand weights, a ball, jump rope and other non expensive stuff to help me on my way.

It may not be easy but giving up is not an option...neither is hibernating!!

Thanks SparkGuy for your vision & leadership!!

Wow! What a great attitude and determination you have. We just got some nice temps here today; so I was finally able to get a long walk in outside. But, I have the Wii Walkout too; so I shouldn't use the excuse of bad weather. Back to building the island the next bad day I get. Thanks for the push!

Real Life vs. Real Weight Loss

Friday, August 03, 2012

I have concluded that real life gets in my way of real weight loss because I am a stress eater. I must learn to maintain my focus on my healthy goals during life's insanities. I need to figure out how to ride stress like a breaking wave and not get tossed around in the surf. I lose & I gain--the vicious cycle. Why do I hold onto this? Where is my motivation & why does it flee like a summer breeze on a hot Southern, summer night? Is success simply the sum of may small changes--I think the changes must cut much deeper.
Nevertheless, I put myself back on track being the eternal optimist and
I refuse to give up....

I can relate to the stress eating, or bordem eating. Its a matter of realizing it before it happens, when that hunger hits stop and think before you act. This seems to help many who suffer the same infliction. It all takes time but it gets better. Hang tough and keep pushing on.

Real life gets in the way for a lot of us. The stresses and changes are hard to cope with. But, cope we do. We can do this! By not quitting, you ARE succeeding. emoticon
