Looking for Motivation Yet Again

I've stalled in my weight loss journey. I have no accountability and it's been hard to keep myself on track. Yesterday I came up with the idea to start a 6 week weight loss challenge. $10 to participate. I've invited any of my Facebook friends to join but I think there is a lot of reluctance. It's scary to put myself out there. I hope there is a good turn out.

I would love to join a group of individuals who all have the same goal to get healthy and could meet with in person. Something local. Maybe have group challenges. Accountability. Support.

Trying to Get Back On Track!

So its been 3 months since I've had my son Christopher and I'm still trying to get back on track. I'm eating too many calories and the only workouts I'm getting is when I take my boys on a walk which is not every day.

My doctor set a goal for me to lose 20 pounds by my next doctor appointment in November. I need to get motivated! I got a Fitbit for my birthday 2 weeks ago and it has made me more aware of how much or little I'm moving around a day. It has really helped me. Now I need to get my calorie intake under control. I've given up candy and am trying to drink less diet pop. Wish me luck!

Christopher Paul- 8 days old

Above are pictures of Christopher at 8 days old. He is such a love bug! Over the past week I've been recovering from my C - Section. At first I was pretty sore but starting to feel better. I'm told I'm not suppose to pick up my older son for 6 weeks but I just don't see how that's possible being an at home mom with a 21 month year old but doing my best not to for the first 2 weeks.

I'm not going to start tracking my food until after my 6 week check up. At that point I'll be cleared to exercise which will help me get back on track. I can't wait until I can start taking both boys on walks. Since Christopher has been born I've down 15 of the 30 pounds I gained while pregnant. I'm breastfeeding so we'll see how I average out with weight and calorie intake.

    Such a cutie! Listen to your doctor. If the oldest wants to be held, have him climb up into your lap. I remember that when my youngest was born. It was tough, but it's better than opening anything back up. Take care of yourself!

Week 31 of Pregnancy

I am in week 31 of my pregnancy and I have gained 22.5 pounds since I found out I was pregnant. In my last blog I had just found out I have gestational diabetes. Since then I have taken a class on how I needed to change my diet and workouts. I have stuck to a strict diet plan and have actually stopped gaining weight and even dropped a couple pounds. I test my blood sugar 4 times a day and test for ketones once a day. It's been a quite an eye opener. This makes me want to eat healthier long after I have my little boy. Having to constantly count my carb choices and remember to test my blood on time is a bit annoying but doable. The hard part is finding out which food choices work best for me. I have found that there's some foods I can technically have but my body doesn't react well to and causes my blood sugars to spike. I have gone back to walking on the treadmill about 30 minutes every day since its too cold to walk outside. In addition to the changes in my diet, I also need to see my doctor weekly instead of biweekly. I need to have additional ultrasounds done at 32 and 37 weeks. Which is weird. With my first pregnancy, it was pretty uneventful. Only had 1 ultrasound done at 20 weeks. With this pregnancy I will have had one done at 12, 20, 32 and 37 weeks. I only pray that the next 9 weeks go smoothly.

    Sounds like it's quite an adjustment for you! But I believe the diabetes sorts itself out after baby is born. Only a few more weeks to go!
