American Legion

Sunday, May 15, 2011

Monday, May 16, 2011, I will be installed as the new Commander for Post 637 in Citrus Heights, California. Also serving as the District Finance Officer for California District 6. If you are a veteran who served during a time of conflict in the US military, or are actively serving today, then you should look into joining the American Legion. Veteran's, looking out for veterans, and serving the community in which you live in. It is a great organization. Check it out.

My husband joined the American Legion last year. He enlisted in the early 80s and was called back unexpectedly (Army Special Forces) shortly before Desert Shield.

My Dad was active in the Legion post where we live. He really enjoyed it, and was part of the Honor Guard at one time. Congrats on your new position.

Year Ending

Wednesday, December 01, 2010

As the year comes to an end, I look back and wonder where the days have gone! Seems as I get older, they slip by faster and faster. But, with family and friends around, I enjoy my time I have left here on earth. The American Legion has provided me with some fantastic comrades and I am active with the organization and hope to be as long as I am able. Veteran's helping veteran's and active military is what it is all about. Plus community and youth activities makes the Legion a great organization. If you are a qualified military veteran, you should investigate joining. You won't be sorry you did. HAVE A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR SEASON.

Over the holiday season, I ballooned up about 30 pounds. Since then, there have been birthdays, anniversary and events that have prevented me from fasting. May seemed like a good month. So for the past 6 days, I have not eaten any food, and only have drank filtered water... not even coffee or tea, only water. As a result, my body is throwing off toxic waste material and cleaning my body. As a side "plus" so far I have lost 15 pounds. The first few days were "hell-on-earth" with hunger pains, but now that my GI system has shut down, they are just about gone. My goal is to continue fasting until the end of the month, or until my body signals me to start eating again. That signal would be hunger pains. My research on FASTING has revealed some fantastic results information, and I will be happy to share with you what mine are when I finish fasting.

Oh My Heavens! That seems so drastic. Where did you get that idea. There are much easier ways to lose weight.

Please be careful and a good rule of thumb is always check out with your doctor before doing something like going without food .. just a caring spark friend looking out for you emoticon

It seems like an awful long time to fast, Ken??? Have you checked your doctor before doing this? My sister fasts one day a week and says that does her so much good.

I do believe in body cleansing and have tried that with a specialist, lost 4 lbs almost immediately but stopped doing it when I began to feel ill.

Best of luck with this Ken.

What would be a good article to read about fasting, Ken? DH is diabetic and I am hypoglycemic, so I don't know if we dare try it. But cleaning out the system sounds like a good idea.

My husband and I have made fasting one day a week a habit for about ten years now. We give the money we would have spent on food to the hunger program of our church.
We have made Wednesday our fast day and drink only liquids that day. Please do not fast too long or your health may suffer. Sparkpeople can help you to a new healthier lifestyle. Start logging in what you eat and what exercise you get and you'll see results!
You'll get lots of support from others by joining a team. Best wishes on your journey to a new body! emoticon
