(as i mentioned last month:
www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_jo urnal_individual.asp?blog_id=2650066
i'm selling smushed pennies with the angelman syndrome awareness logo on them to help raise money and awareness for angelman syndrome. my niece has angelman syndrome so this is a cause that is especially close to my heart.
i got my store up and running:
shop.greensquarecreations.com
i ordered 300 smushed pennies. after giving it a lot of thought, i decided the easiest way to package them was to order business cards from vistprint.com with a little blurb about angelman syndrome and slip the business card along with the penny into a little plastic zip baggies. in terms of packaging, i got 500 #000 bubble envelopes.
if you were wondering what 500 #000 envelopes look like, here's a picture:
and if you were wondering what 1,000 little plastic baggies looks like:
i've started putting return address labels on the envelopes:

i'm waiting for the guy who is making the pennies to send me an actual picture of a penny so i can upload that and start selling.
i had to favor to ask my sparkfriends, though. a few of you mentioned you were interested in purchasing pennies, if you are still interested, would you mind ordering them before i get an actual picture uploaded so you can test out my shopping cart and let me know if there are any problems? in addition, i want to make sure my inventory system works because i only ordered 300 pennies. if i sell out, i'll need to place another order with the penny guy.
if you are interested in purchasing a penny, you can go here:
penny.greensquarecreations.com
i accept money order, cashier's check, personal checks and paypal. checks are preferred simply because paypal takes a percentage [$0.30 per transaction plus 2.9% of the total] but i also realize how convenient paypal is so i decided i would go ahead and offer that option.
if you have any feedback or suggestions on my store, please send me an email at info at greensquarecreations dot com.)

(as i mentioned in my wardrobe debut sparkblog, i discovered i needed a warmer layer i could wear with my new work shirts to keep me warm in this unusually cold southern california weather:
www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_jo urnal_individual.asp?blog_id=2798956
i tried to find a cardigan but i just couldn't do it. cardigans seem so girly to me - it was just too much. blazers seemed so stiff and almost suit-like. i finally managed to find a light jacket at ross for $16.99. it's much more girly than anything i'd usually wear but ever since my bold red shirt purchase, i'm a changed green girl. and get this, my sparkfriends, i managed to fit into a size large. like a normal size large, not a plus sized large. crazy, i know.
i liked the black jacket so much that i stopped at the ross by my work today on my lunch break and they happened to have the exact same jacket in beige.
i'm so glad i didn't have to make another emotional decision to branch out even further. the funny thing was they also had the jacket in red. i laughed to myself because i imagined my sparkfriends urging me to buy the red jacket.
i also have a confession to make. when i was at the limited with my sisters, they kept telling me i could have fit into a size 6 and i thought they had seriously lost it because i felt the size 8's - while they fit me - were practically spandex. now that i've been wearing size 8 pants for an entire week, i realize size 8 isn't spandex on me. it's certainly much, much smaller and fitted than anything i've ever worn in my life but compare to my coworkers, my pants are still on the 'baggier' side. it hit me when i was looking at myself in the full length mirror in the bathroom today that i probably could fit into a size 6. it would be so tight that i would never be comfortable, but my sisters were right. i'm not the same green girl who thought her size 10/12/14 pants fit her.)

(as most of you have probably noticed, the green girl has been sick pretty much non-stop since october and this led to my current self-induced workout hiatus:
www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_jo urnal_individual.asp?blog_id=2783752
i got the results from my blood test back yesterday. the doctor said my lymphocyte count is really low because my body has been fighting off a couple of viruses for over five years now. he feels my inability to fight off these viruses probably has to do with my stress levels and my high acidity level. high acidity is based on genetics or diet - consuming large amounts of coffee, soda and spicy foods and smoking raises a person's acidity. in the green girl's case, it's purely genetics.
for those of you following me, i started trying to become a 'morning worker outer' back in october. i wanted so badly to be able to wake up early in the morning and get a workout in before work but i was so tired. as part of my stress reducing, i'm going to accept that i am not a morning person and i need to sleep in until 5:45 every morning. i'm sure getting less than six hours per night didn't help my situation and probably explains why i kept getting sick over and over again.
in order for me to fight off these viruses, i need to improve my immune system. he said the rest of my numbers look good and i'm actually really healthy. my kidney and liver are good. that's a relief.
so, the green girl's number one priority going forward is to strengthen her immune system. everything else is going to be secondary.
here's my current plan:
[01] reduce stress with stress management techniques
[02] find ways to simplify my life
[03] do chakra yoga to strengthen immune system
[04] increase intake of alkaline foods to help lower acidity - goal of 75% alkaline 25% acidic
the doctor commented that he was really impressed with how smart i am and he said if anyone could do this, he knew i could. i'm assuming this had a lot to do with the fact that i brought a notebook and pen and was asking lots of questions. i caught him off guard when i asked him if he thought my low folate intake was contributing to this - he couldn't believe i tracked my nutrition.
i already ordered a chakra yoga dvd specifically for strengthening the immune system this morning.
the green girl is going to do this.)

(the green girl's new wardrobe:
www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_jo urnal_individual.asp?blog_id=2712128
finally debuted this week:
for those of you just joining us, this is the first time in the green girl's entire life that she is wearing non-plus sized tops. that's an xl!
marathonmom26.2, don't look below the knees, i know you don't approve of my geriatric sas shoes.
to celebrate my new look, i even got a new cute green purse last night from sears:
don't tell anyone but, i splurged. it was actually over my usual $20 limit - it was $29.99 but i gave in because it was so cute and i felt it would be great with my new look.
there's only a slight technical difficulty. i'm still trying to recover from being sick and southern california has been unusually cold lately so i am trying to keep warm. i bought a cute new wardrobe but nothing warm. so, while my wardrobe is technically being debuted this week, it's being hidden by giant fleeces. yeah. about that. so, i need to find some appropriate layering pieces - my cousin suggested i try a cardigan. my sister said she also wears camisoles under thin pieces for extra warmth. all foreign words to the green girl but she will work through this.
in other big news, i finally ordered my custom prescription oakley sunglasses:
www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_jo urnal_individual.asp?blog_id=2609801
the guy gave me a break on tax so the total was $473. i decided against the green after going to the oakley store and realizing they managed to pick the most inferior shade of green ever. ::shudders:: i ordered them in dark grey with black polarized lenses with iridium so they will be shiny and mirror-like.)
