“Lord, ‘Increase our faith.’” Lk 17:5 NKJV There are times in which we feel that what we need to do and want to do is just too difficult. Sometimes we feel this way because of our need to self-protect ourselves from being wrong, of getting hurt or of failure.I know that those around me may dwell on the obstacles and difficulties, which can cause me to dwell on my doubts, however I will prevail. I know that words are powerful and everyone is not going to give me positive feedback for my life change, so I will use self-talk to keep me focused and to remove the doubt because I am not alone. Instead of “What will I do?”, I will say, “In God’s strength I can handle it.” Instead of complaining how bad it is, I will say, “Lord, help me to learn from this to better my life. Instead of saying “I see no way out”, I will say “It’s not too hard for God.” Doubt will come but I must remember that God is with me every step of the way. I have decide that today, I can make it and change my life for the better, I know because God is my constant companion.

One thing I have notice since I began my journey with Spark People is that I don’t think or dream about food as much as I used too. No, I do not think of the 800 calories chocolate shakes with extra chocolate syrup, strawberry cheese cake or the triple chocolate cake, just a few of the foods that I used to crave and would make a special trip to get. Food is not my first thought when it is time to celebrate occasion—there always was a reason to celebrate with food in my world. As a result of my obsession with thoughts of food, I overate and the weight gain soon followed.
It is wonderful and amazing how much time you can spend thinking of food and eating food instead of facing whatever you need to take care of. In the Word of God we are told, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Phillippians 4:8NLV.When I think on excellent and worthy things, I do not have time to think or dream about food—I think of the grace and mercy of Jesus. No more food meditations, my thoughts are on more admirable and praiseworthy things and these thoughts lead me to reach out and help others.

“We will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Heb 4:16 NLT. Today, my errands in the next town took longer than I thought and I ran out of all of my nutritious snacks that I had packed for the trip. As I traveled down the local highway passing the local restaurants, I could smell the delicious aroma of food—most were food that I do not routinely eat. Mind you, I do not have a list of foods that I have eliminated from my diet--that does not work for me, I choose when I will eat them. The temptation was getting to me and I was just about to turn into the parking lot of the “Tasty Spoon” when a car blocked my entrance. There in my car, waiting for the lane to clear again, I realized that I cannot leave God out of my loop for a moment of my journey to a better life. As I focused on Him and prayed, my hunger was forgotten and I drove home to prepare a nutritious meal. God freely gives His blessing to each of us in His own way and His own timing. Today, I was rescued…again.
