A New Year's Eve Prayer

Monday, December 31, 2012

A New Year’s Eve Prayer
“Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea And a path through the mighty waters, “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:16, 18-19 NKJV . We thank You, Lord for the year just past-the difficult times that we did not thank you for and the wonderful times that we did think of you and gave thanks. We look forward to the future, asking Your blessing upon it. Be with us, Lord, and with all our loved ones. Keep us in Your care. Shine Your light upon our path, and make us acceptable in Your sight. Amen.

If Only...

Sunday, December 30, 2012

Many of us live in a world of “if only”. If only I had gone to college or trade school. If only I had told John or Sue how I really felt. If only I had taken that job. If only I had move to wherever. If only I had eaten better meals. STOP. In order to move on with our lives and forgive ourselves and perhaps others, we must choose to live in the “right now”. Right now, I choose to live the life that God has given me to the best of my ability by taking one day at a time. Right now, I choose to enjoy this day and to enjoy my life.

Quick Forgetters

Saturday, December 29, 2012

We are not slow learners, we are just quick forgetters. We forget what God has already done for us. God does mighty acts in our lives every day. There are times when things don't always work out the way we want them, but God is there to pick us up and help us deal with our trials. Today, we praise the Lord that He is good and kind. His goodness is unending, and we are always in His care. Psalm 16:2, 7-9: O my soul, you have said to the LORD,“You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.” I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.8 I have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. Today, no matter what we face, God is here for us. emoticon

Most of us will never be famous, LINWASH , nor will we accomplish great things after the world’s standard. If you live for Jesus, faithfully serve His church and His people, raise your family to honor Him and His word and tell lost sinners about Jesus, your life is extraordinary! Live for Jesus and glorify Him! In His Glory! Vic.

Smile

Friday, December 28, 2012

There is an old saying, author unknown-" smile and the world smiles with you cry and you cry alone". I don't think that is true for today. We are a caring people and we reach out to strangers in need all the time. So I say today, "smile and the world smiles with you, cry and strangers will reach out with a helping hand and a warm heart". emoticon

There is also the old adage that I like even better..."SMILE! It makes people wonder what you're thinking"!

I've always been one to keep people on their toes, so to speak...while keeping MY thoughts to myself! And, it ALWAYS makes me SMILE, when people look at me with that look of wondering about what I am smiling about!

When I was a little girl...I use to stand on a street corner, and just STARE at the sky...JUST to see how many OTHER people would look up to see what I was looking at!

NEED a good laugh...TRY it! It will do your heart GOOD to see how many people shake their heads & SMILE when they realize what YOU were REALLY doing!

Had to laugh at that smile comment.. I make a point to smile almost all day at work,,it drives them all crazy, they want to know what I am "up to".
My grandma told me that if you are in pain or feel bad for any reason, smile and it will help.. my pain lessens when I smile, I focus on something other than the pain,, smiling...

Blackeye Peas--The food

Thursday, December 27, 2012

emoticon Today, I purchased my blackeye peas for my New Year's Day meal. I did not know how nutritious they are. In a 1/2 cup of blackeye peas, there are 96 cal, 0 fat, 24g carbs, 9g protein and 18g of fiber. emoticon They have more protein and fiber than black beans as well as, less fat, and carbs. emoticon Next I have to get my cabbage-they did not look great at the market today. emoticon
