week one

My main focus this week is to keep up with the BLC fitness challenges. My son and DIL are coming to visit from NY- we will all be down south with my other son and DIL. In the past I have NOT had great success with exercise while down there visiting-too many distractions. One thing I will try is to get people or a person to take walks with me. It will be great bonding time as well as get me moving. Also I will have access to a new pool this trip so will try to indulge in that. So that's the plan!

day 2 of March Madness

I made 5 out of 5 baskets on day #1
I realized I need to up the step challenge so I am "shooting" for 11,000 steps.
My goal of this exercise is consistency at "aiming" for my goals
I have to acknowledge I succeed when I am accountable.
When I am left to my own devices...I wander (Kristin will vouch for that)
So if I put myself and my goals "out there" maybe I will keep my focus and this will be one heck of a productive month

    Good first day! I read my goals everyday that way they are fresh in my mind everyday. No excuses that way. I stay mindful of what I want to accomplish! I know all of these steps we are each doing will really be helpful in us making our goals! Keep up your good momentum!

Trying to earn baskets in honor of the basketball excitement this month.
1. basket- 8 glasses of water daily
2. basket -1 Fly Lady mission daily
3. basket- 10,000 steps daily
4. basket- Mountain Climber/ 1 more each day of the month (so, for instance, March 2=2 mountain climbers
5. basket -M, W, F 30 minute cardio video
6. basket -1 mile walk video

Walk It Out Challenge Blog

So the assignment was to find ways to change up your walk!
1. I love walking sideways. Totally feels like different muscles are being used!
2. I have lots of trees to water on our property. 7 are about a football field away from another 7. Have discovered I can set the hose in one tree well, walk the "football" field, set a hose in another tree well. Then return across the "football" field and move hose to another well. Repeat 14 times- hey that's a way to increase walking, rather than stand and water each tree.!!!!
3. Tried walking with my dog. uhmmm....not so great. He has to stop and pee on everything. Was a much slower walk!
4.Haven't tried this yet but am going to speed up for one minute, then go slower for one minute. Repeat for entire walk.

  i love your walking ideas! i think i am going to try them out for myself...well, except the tree thing. we dont have that hahaha. but the sideways walks sound like a fun way to change it up! keep up the awesome work!

    Sounds like a great plan!
I can relate to the dog stop-and-go issue. Now if I take them walking I make sure they have done their business first. When they want to dilly-dally along the way I use a strong "WALK" command and keep moving. They learned pretty quickly. If we've done well I give them the chance to sniff and pee on the last quarter mile close to home during my cool down time.

    Sounds like walking with the dog might be more effective if you figure out something to do every time he stops. (Then again, not sure what he'd think of jumping jacks as he's leaving his calling card. =P )

    Great Ideas. I have actually been doing the walk fast for a minute, then slow it down and even a slow jog for one minute and then slow down and it does increase your stamina if you keep at it and according to my heart rate monitor burns more calories.
